I dont think the tiara is that bad, if the buttons were a little bit closer and didnt stand out like antennas it would be a nice. I am not a fan of Queen Silvias tiara. What is the history behind that one.

It's the cameo tiara. She wore it when she got married to the King. All 4 of the king's sisters wore the same tiara. From Danjel:

"The bridal tiara of Queen Silvia was given in 1932 to King Carl Gustav's mother, Princess Sybilla as a wedding gift. Before she left it to her son her daughters Birgitta and Désirée were also allowed to wear this piece at their wedding. Now it is only reserved for Queen Silvia. Such an historic jewel is only for special occasions. In the treasure chamber of the Bernadotte Foundation, installed in the palace of Stockholm, this showpiece rests in a display case.

Originaly owned by the French Empress Josephine, it was inherited by her granddaughter Queen Josephine, born princess of Leuchtenberg. Then it went to her daughter princess Eugenie, who left it to her nephew, prince Eugen. He gave it as a wedding gift to princess Sybilla of Saksen-Coburg-Gotha, when she married Crownprince Gustav Adolf in 1932. Her mother in law, Crownprincess Margaret has also been seen wearing this tiara. The color of this historical bridal tiara is very special; it's white: it consists of pearls, heightened with 7 cameo's who depict mythological figures. In the centre there's the crowning of love (mother and child), to where portrait-cameos of a man and a woman aim their sight. On the backside portrait-cameo's are interchanged with a godess who has a putti on her lap (caretaker) and a man with a staff (guard). Amongst the Polish and British aristocracy there is a smaller diadem and a necklace with exact the same cameos, which leads to the suspection that all these parts have been a parure. This fine piece was made by Biennais, the parisan Court Jeweller of Napoleon, who was the predecessor of Chaumet."

Thank you for the sum up. When I saw the tiara I thought of Charlamagnes and the Holy Roman Empire crowns. It kinda looks like those.

You're welcome. It's cool that you see a connection between this tiara and those from the era of the Holy Roman Empire. A connection in style between the Napoleonic era and the era of Charlemagne. Not a mere coincidence though. :)

Madeleine look at her best, she looks gorgeous... perfect, very very pretty :D

Princess Madeleine looked a little pouty at the ceremony (much like how a model looks), but she cheered up at the banquet. I love the pictures of her being so animated with the banquet guests! For the longest time, I just couldn't understand why everyone thought she was so beautiful, but now I see. Her hair, makeup, dress, everything was just perfect on her. Beautiful girl!

I liked CP Victoria's dress. I think it wasn't too bold nor too delicate for her -just right!

Prince Carl Philip is HOTTTTTTT! The brunette Orlando Bloom!

I think the King always looks sour and I'm never impressed with him, his demeanor, anything. It makes one wonder how he got such a special wife who looked wonderful!

i agree on Carl-Philip... looking hot as ever.. too bad there aren't more pictures & close-ups on him..

tell me about it! he's blindingly good looking. some pictures of him make me swoon.

it's just astonishing to me that more media haven't picked up on him. I guess it would be different if he were the crownprince.

Wonderful pictures. Thank you all very much.:) The ladies certainly looked great in my opinion, although I must admit I wasn't too fond of Silvia's dress. Carl-Philip looked hot indeed;), and too bad there aren't more pictures of him. Hilarious captions Dennism.:D Great job.:)

some more from ANP

btw, who's the lady (behind the one in red) wearing a tiara on the last pic?

That is Countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister. She is the mistress of the robes.

Well, the countess is an adviser to the queen. The Mistress of the Robes is in charge of the ladies-in-waiting. She is the richest person in the household. Also it is said that she has more titles than anybody else in Sweden.

Countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister's official title is "överhovmästarinna" which is roughly translated as "Head of the court's ladies-in-waiting." She has some duties at state visits. An ancestor of her husband was överhovmästarinna at the court of Carl XV(19th century). :) Three others were Prime ministers. Actually two were Prime ministers for Justice(which was the one of the original titles for PM. One of whom did not actually take office) and another was Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs which was the other title. All 3 lived in the 19th century as well.

can you imagine...Victoria, Madeleine and Christina fighting over who gets to wear the four-button tiara? it's terrible.

i could envision myself coming to blows with someone to snag the Baden tiara for myself. but the four button! I'd say, "take it. it's all yours, baby!"

hehe lol..i tooootally agree with you;)

The yearly fashion-grading from Aftonbladet. Done by Sofia Fahrman (I think I´ve made the one or another snappish comment on her and she has proven me right again.)
Madeleine: 4+
Madeleine is beaten of Mamma Silvia: 5+
Victoria: 3+
Lilian: 4+
Anitra Steen (Wife of prime minister Göran Persson): 3+
Laila Freivald (witch hunted minister for foreign affairs): 1-

Obviously here not many agreed on her choice of Silvia as best dressed. I would give Madeleine and Victoria the same grades (but the difference between 3+ and 4+ also isn´t very big)
It´s a little OT...but I´ve to say it. IMO it´s an extremely cheap shot to give Laila Freivald the worst possible grade just because she´s now criticised for her slow reaction in the Tsunami catastrophe. IMO she didn´t look bad. Surely not worse than Maud Olofsson, who got a 2+. I hate people, who can´t differ between the look of a person and the personal feelings of antipathy/sympathy they have. Even worse it is, when it´s done to impress other people

i couldn't believe it when i saw those "+"...
since i totally disagree with them

but i got to say one thing in her defence...at least she's right bout one thing...that Maud had some colour on her dress unlike Laila...

:D But looking at her good grades for "colourless" Madeleine, one can´t really work with this argument :D ;)
Laila and Madeleine are even both blondes (even though Madeleine could have worked with her roots for the festivities  )

but she says the reason why she doesnt give laila a higher mark is coz of the lack of colour... maybe...just maybe that's why maud got higher than laila?

Yes...yes...but haven´t you seen Mauds stuffed sausage dress?? I think it´s hard to deny, that Laila looked more elegant.
But I think we should let it be, and should simply agree, that Sofi is stupid, ok? ;) :D

yaaaay! finally!! :)

altho..i think it looks like most of the other dresses she wear...a dark colour and something sparkling...and then her grey hair and the four button one..well no surprise there..but cant they "give" her the 4 button one to use as long as she wants? then it wont risk appearing on V or M...Christina is the only one who can wear it without looking ridicolous...abit like lillian and the six button one..

of course i've seen it... i was the first on here who described it as a stuffed sausage:p and sure laila looked more elegant...but no one in the media society seem to like her these days so... but ok.. i can agree on that..no problem..she's stupid;)
