The Nobel Prize 2002 - 2012

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Why, oh why did Victoria recycle that dress? Madeleine looked fantastic, the dress was beautiful. And Lilian, breathtaking. I didn't really care for Silivia's gown though.

Princess Lilian - amazing, wonderful, elegant, gracious, classy. As ZandraRae said, breathtaking. I'm very proud to see a British-grown Swedish Princess exuding total glamour and bewitching charm.

Queen Silvia - obviously forget to change and attended in her dressing gown.

But good people that Leuchtenburg parure is out of this world. I could not even look at the dress with that in the show. Cheers.

Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures!

Madeleine, looked wonderful, just like I knew she would. They dress, the tiara and the necklace were perfect.
Dissapointed with Silvia's dress but so glad she wore the sapphires.
Victoria looked nice but I just wish she had worn a new dress. Her jewels were gorgeous though!
CP looked as handsome as ever! Love him.

Wow! I just saw the images on Nobel and I have to say Victoria and Madeleine look wonderful! I love Madeleine's dark blue dress (my favorite. Silvia reminded me of an accordion! I didn't like her dress at all.

Does anyone have a picture of Princess Christina? I thought she looked fabulous.

Are there pictures of the banquet rather than the actual ceremony? Or maybe even the procession?

where Prince Carl Philip! he didnt attend at nobel prize award

he was there i saw him in some of the pics from Getty

Some pics from ANP

Silvia & Lilian

Madeleine is by far the best dressed at the event! Simply stunning, as was Lilian. Silvia needs to remember that she isn't a bird....

Madeleine looked wonderful - beautiful dress and necklace were perfect for her. I'm pretty dissapointed with Silvia's dress, however, the tiara was gorgeous. Victoria looked nice but I did not like her hairdo. Carl Philip looked very handsome.

I agree. One fine leftover from Empress Josephine.

This year, Silvia was absolutely ravishing

Victoria was beautiful too. Madeleine's dress, new or not, it was nice but it didn't really thrill me.

Now a few  words. I didn't see the Prize Award live, so I missed princess Lilian, who was banned from the banquet. And I only got a glimpse of princess Christina. Old or not, doesn't the Nobel committee understand that these princesses BELONG in the setup !!!

It was my understanding that Princess Lilian only did attend the awarding ceremony and skipped the banquet on her own request,
due to her frail health.

There is no way that the Svenska Akademien has 'banned' Princess Lilian.

Haha. I understand what you mean. But to prevent misunderstandings to other posters who might not know the Swedish royal family that well: Princess Lilian is the spouse of the late Prince Bertil, a brother to the father of the present King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and also a brother to the mother of the present Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

So Princess Lilian is inside the core Swedish and Danish royal family:

a sister in law to:
Carl-Johan Count Bernadotte av Wisborg

an aunt to:
Princess Margaretha, fru Ambler
HRH Princess Brigitta, Princess of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen
Princess Désirée, Baroness Silfverschiöld
Princess Christina, fru Magnusson
HM King Carl XVI Gustaf
HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark
HRH Princess Benedikte zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn
HM Queen Anne-Marie of the Hellenes

a great-aunt to
HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden
HRH Prince Carl-Philip of Sweden
HRH Princess Madeleine of Sweden
HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark
HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark

Madeleine looked really fantastic! It seems she has gotten, what the event is about (about the laureates of course ;) but the whole circus wouldn´t be half as much "prestige", if it wouldn´t be done this special way)
I agree, she looked magnificent this year

I though think about skipping next years NPA, because I felt so disappointed by Victoria. How could she recycle this dress AGAIN, ok it´s not her worst...but we have seen it at least 3 times before...and I don´t like the plastic looking skirt with the strange mix of colours...and all together it´s typically Lars Wallin, who makes only "girly" dresses...and this doesn´t do a woman AND crown princess of nearly 30 years justice. Didn´t like her hairdo either...and also not the earrings.
that is my biggest issue with Wahlin, he still dresses her like she is a girl of 19 but she is now a grown woman, soon 30 with a fantstic body, why not show it of in something mature

After many fantastic evening appearances of late I had really high hopes for Victoria...and now this. I think I need to found a self help group with HenriM. And in the light of my disappointment I hope, that Victoria generally will go back to dull, so that never ever again a spark of hope could come up
Oh dear, A "Im not happy with how my Crown Princess dresses supportclub":ROFLMAO:

Madeleine looked really fantastic. For me she was the queen of the night.

Wow!
Princess Lillian looked so classy! And who knew she had it in her..?? She's showing off some skin! Ha! Ha! Just kidding.

Love the dress and the color. She looked so regal, as did Victoria, Madeline, the King, Carl-Phillipe, but Queen Silvia's dress....um...I did not think the large sleeves were very becoming. Other than that, she also looked nice.

Apparently Lilian isnt invited to the Nobel dinner. Aftonbladet writes that she was unaware of that and said she wanted to call the queen to check whats going on.
The royal court says Lilian is to old and not strong enough to be able to attend the party

Looks like they need to work on the communication ;)

Henri, I'm merely referring to what's been said here and in Swedish papers the past week.

Lena > As a tax payer in Sweden I'm happy that Victoria, as well as the other royal ladies, actually do recycle their gowns.

And apart from the ''economic angle''; given the fact that so much effort and man-hours are put into every one of these creations, it would be a waste not to use them at least 10 times. (Sorry if I made you faint here  )

Costs of gowns

That is true, it saves taxpayer's money indeed, but let us keep things in perspective. The costs of gowns are peanuts compared by the costs for the upkeep of the royal residences, the security, the transportation, the staff, the military ceremonial, the royal apanages, the royal archives, the royal parks, the royal stables, etc.

The costs for gowns are maybe 1% of the total royal budget.

Mmm, I don't agree with you .
Madeleine looked far less beautiful than she usually does . I think she looked a bit tired and her face and eyes were not as glowing as usually . And this hair-do doesn't suit her, IMO .

This time, I found Victoria more beautiful .:flowers:

Oh why, oh why couldn't Victoria have gotten a new dress? I've seen that dress way too many times!

Maybe becouse she has worn few new dresses during this year?:ermm: Or maybe becouse her mother and sister wore new? Or maybe she wore new one today?
Or...who knows...

I agree. The awarding of the Nobel Prizes is the highlight of the year. Man would expect that new garderobes are purchased for such a major event and eventually re-use it for another, less important event.

For me it is unimagineable that Dutch royal ladies do wear the same gown on Prinsjesdag (Princes' Day / State Opening of Parliament), which is not the most formal white-tie-and-grand-jewelry event (because it is held at Noon), but is aired live on television, like the Nobel awarding ceremony.

But said that, Crown Princess Victoria did look every inch a Princess.

I'm pretty sure Queen Silvia's gown wasn't new, it's just one she hasn't worn much. I believe she wore it on a state visit to Thailand (I don't mean the Thai king's celebrations but a separate visit to that country).

Wow photo royal couple!! Photos Princess Victoria,Madeleine,Carl Philip, Princess Lilian gala tonight?
