State Visit from the President of the United States: June 3-5, 2019

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
As none of us, I believe.., can read Harry's mind anything is possible.
Let us for the sake of argument imagine that Harry really can't stand the sight of President Trump and that he deeply resents the Presidents because of his wife's opinion and for what the President said about her.
I cannot, I simply cannot imagine, a seasoned and professional royal as Harry letting that influence his behavior in something as important as a state visit.
The thought that he would make things awkward for his grandmother is even more remote from my mind.

So by that you claim Harry to be even more "seasoned and professional Royal" than his father, who has kept away a few yards away from BP in his London home Clarence House (I guess you will know the distance from CH to BP - you can reach it on foot in a couple of minutes) from the chinese state banquet?!:whistling:

Pinch of Salt indeed but that just proves my point! Government officials have always traveled with the President when traveling for official state visits. I seem to recall Madeline Albright went on a state visit with President Clinton to Mexico.

That is business as usual,Foreign Ministers ALWAYS travel along with State Visit regardless which country, plus the Trade minister etc etc et tout and a caravan of leading business men.....and their,well,entourage...:whistling:

According to Richard Palmer, pinch of salt please, apparently the contingent travelling with The President on this occasion appears to be much smaller than those that have travelled with the Obamas and Bushes on previous occasions.

When the source isn't great, I look to other factors. In this case, it wouldn't surprise me as many positions in this administration remain vacant. For example, Mick Mulvaney is filling for two positions in addition to holding his permanent position, which is the Director of Office of Management and Budget. When you have situations where people are over stretched, there are fewer people that will travel to begin with. Then there is the people that simply cannot afford to leave the states and go as they can't drop whatever they have going on here.

I also think its a matter that a lot of Trump's senior staff have a more of a public persona than past administrations. Kellyanne Conway for example or Sarah Sanders.

And, he has 4 (out of 5) very public children as well.

If I recall, the Spanish brought one of the biggest delegations for a state visit in years. The DM felt it was being clever with some "Spanish Armada" headlines ?

??? No,not.Becaus Harry just became a dad and he and his wife have other things more important on their minds, their son Archie. There is paternity leave in Europe for dads too..!!And he did show up at the welcome.so what?
Nothing special to be sought after in his attending or not.it has been explained...but hey OK,todays web goes bezirk over nothing while important things are, well, twisted out of courtesy where others don't even know the ABC of courtesy.?...Such a funny world these days..

My comment wasn't critical of Harry.

It is a fact that the Queen's cousins have been supporting her in many ways for years and years. So the poster who said Harry was more important to attend the State Banquet because he is 6th in line for the throne than Princess Alexandra who is 53rd is wrong.

The largest part of delegations consist of the Trade caravan, always & everywhere..

I'm not going to speculate about what and why Prince Charles did at the Chinese visit.
I will however point out that Prince Charles is in another position than Harry, in regards to "taking an individual stand."
Charles is the heir, and he has seniority in the job (with about 50 years or so service as an adult behind him) and he has a history for having an opinion, that is sometimes political and controversial.
Harry has none of the above.

As the guests were walking to their seats, Duchess Kate kind of broke the line to shake some lady's hand, I wonder who she was!!

Apologies if someone has already responded to you but I did wonder if it was Steven Mnuchin's wife Louise Linton??

The fact the Royals line up as they do has to do with the courtesy towards the guest to meet all of HM extended family, and they pop up at HM's request, and Her's alone..

What? Your comment has nothing to do with what I wrote. I said nothing about how they line up.

Yes, the Queen wants her cousins to attend and so they do. They have faithfully done so for 50 years or so. That is my point.

If she had felt strongly about Harry attending the Banquet, he would have also.

No one has responded yet, and I'm still curious to know who that lady was, especially for Duchess Kate to break the line to shake her hands.

I saw several responses here already, (maybe they got deleted for some reason?) and yes, it was Louise Linton--the wife of the man escorting Kate-Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin. Louise is a Scottish actress.

Well ofcourse..I write what I wish,no-one dictates that,and I did understand your point,unlike some others,thank you.Next!

what happened to her?

She is the Duchess of Cambridge or, if you want to be informal, Catherine or Kate. “Duchess Kate” is not the correct way to refer to her or any Duchess, I think that’s what was meant. I know it sets my teeth on edge as soon as I see it.

Did you see the wink from HRH The Duchess of Cornwall? LOL

It's the talk of social media. I have never seen so many wild, hilarious theories about a fraction of a second wink...WINKGATE?!

Here too, very much so..it's like the DM talking to you...?

Piers Morgan tweeting away that The Queen, Charles, Harry and Meghan should tune into his interview with Trump tomorrow. I can only imagine...

I can only imagine...

Presumably that's his intention.. to create a frenzy of fevered anticipation ?

I shan't be 'buying it'...

Has tonights event at the residence of the Ambassador already started and do we have pics somewhere?

Return Dinner hosted by US President and 1st Lady at Winfield House in London

It appears so,they are representing HM. If i recall correctly only HM and Philip attend the similar dinner hosted by the Obamas.

Had expected more members of the RF as this is the case at return Events in other countries.
