Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: Church Service, Carriage Procession - May 19, 2018

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Well either were Anne, Edward and Andrew on the steps of the church. Only the parents, Harry's brother and his family, and Jane were on the steps. Charles Spencer was not the only Uncle who wasn't out there. Jane seems to have only been out there as she was involved in the wedding.

My take on it was only Harry and Meghan's immediate families were on the steps, and Lady Jane was representing his mother.

Hmmm...that's a very good question. As the mother of the bride she's entitled to be at the front of the church. I suspect she and Andrew may even want to sit together at their daughter's wedding. I wouldn't be surprised if she sat with the Royal Family but somehow apart from Philip and Charles who (I believe) are her main detractors.

That is what I think will happen. :flowers::flowers:

All I can say in that in the US, scrolling through the lists of shows to choose from in the wee hours of Saturday morning, it was quickly obvious to everyone that can read that the Royal Wedding was being shown all over the place.

I don't know the facts and the figures but I imagine they're off the charts for this wedding. I believe at one point I heard that this wedding was being viewed globally by over 1 billion people. That's amazing. :D

Please, what have been US interest in this wedding ? Was it shown on TV, talked about in magazines and so on.... Thanks in advance

Yes, it's been talked about everywhere. Ail the major television networks carried the wedding live and many had specials leading up to the day as well. All over the newspapers and magazines as well. The ratings are In and apparently 30 million American viewers watched the wedding yesterday.

The big three television networks - ABC, CBS, and NBC - all broadcast the wedding live and had correspondents at Windsor. So did CNN and PBS. It may have been covered by other television networks as well. CNN also repeated their broadcast Saturday evening.

Does anybody know the three songs Elton John played? Everybody has been treating it like a state secret.

I know one is "Your Song."

What about the other two?

Ha! Ha! If you scroll down the screen on this page, you can see Prince Charles and Doria Markle step on Henry VIII's grave as they leave St. George's Chapel.

The old Bluebeard must have had quite a shock when Meghan Markle "proud to be a woman and a feminist" walked right over him!

Serves him right.

?

This made me giggle. Serves him right, indeed.

Not surprised about the ratings either. It will be interesting to see the over global numbers and streaming tally because A LOT of places streamed it including Twitter.

CNN was still at it this morning. Don't know about the other channels since I was out of town this weekend and hasn't had time to watch.

For Doria to be the only blood relatives at the wedding, it may have just have been the plan for only her mom and dad to come. There is precedent, only Sophie's mom and dad came to her wedding to Prince Edward

Unfortunately the media didn't bother to pick up this detail. The Markle shenanigans led up Tom Sr not coming, along with his surgery. It was too late to fly out a Ragland at the last minute to take the spot, and KP and BP were not going to reach out to the uninvited Markles that were in England and invite them. I believe Doria got support from Meghan's friends.

Not true that only Sophie's parents attended. Sophie's brother David attended the wedding and a few other people that were not identified probably because the media didn't know who they were.

I don't have the time to be here on the forum that much today----but I'd like to say I agree with you. Tina Brown texted last night that she found out the idea for the wonderful choir who sang "Stand By me" and 'This little Light Of Mine" was HIS idea. He is a Gospel fan.

My mind was blown. In a good way.

Frankly, I don't like Charles, because of what he did to Diana (or supposedly did), but I am willing to admit there are shades of grey to everybody.
I do hope Meghan and Charles expand their relationship. ?

He might even become like a second father to her. ?

Funnily enough, despite 20+ years of PR ,spin and tireless work, Prince Charles maybe gained more sympathy and credit in just one day thanks to his attitude towards Meghan and Doria.
From now maybe a lot more of people will see the Prince of Wales as who he really is :a profoundly good man.

:previous:
Prince Charles has always been a very good man yet most people seem to forget that we as humans make mistakes and learn from them, hopefully some learn from them.

Prince Charles has always been highly underestimated in MHO. He is a brilliant business man (look what he has done with the Prince of Wales title and the Duchy of Cornwall), an artist (his paintings are wonderful and have sold all around the world), he is a devoted and loving father (just ask his 2 sons) and a very loving son to his mother (many pictures of them in places like Scotland where they enjoy the games) and so much more to this man.

The way he treated Doria was not unusual for him, that showed his true character as a gentleman and a loving husband to his wife for she would I bet expect that of him being who he is....yep, I like this man and someday far off in the future I know he will do wonders for the country....I have no doubt about that all.

And that's not including those of us who watched from the internet.

It was covered by multiple major US networks.

Huge interest--the wedding was broadcast on every major network with nearly 30 million viewers. There were a number of TV specials over the past weeks, Meghan has been on the cover of many magazines frequently. I expect the wedding to be the cover story in many/most magazines this week.

Well, there was a scientific IPSOS poll barely a week ago where the PoW’s net favorability score was zero and the lowest among all senior royals. His wife’s net favorability rate was not reported, but she was at the bottom of the list of people mentioned as “ my favorite royal”. So, yes, they are still pretty unpopular. I doubt that will change because Prince Charles was gentleman-like to Doria, which, quite frankly, is no big deal and just what he was expected to do given the circumstances.

On the steps discussion, the invitations to the wedding were issued by the PoW , and the wedding was organized largely by Clarence House and Kensington Palace staff. So, it seems to me that Charles was the host, and the rest of the RF, including the Queen, were guests like everybody else. It makes sense that Charles and the rest of Harry’s immediate family should be seated at the front row and should be the only ones to process down the aisle behind the bride and groom. That was not a royal event, but a private wedding organized by Harry’s immediate family. There is no deeper meaning than that.

TBH that time can’t come soon enough for me. He is genuine, not a fraud...

Wow, I guess maybe that came out wrong because I hope you didn't mean that you wish the Queen dies soon. Hoping for someone's death is pretty awful.

How scientific could the poll be if the question was "who is your favorite Royal?" Of course the Queen or the younger generation, especially Harry at the moment, will be chosen as a favorite.

The only thing that annoyed me was the misinformation they kept saying! It's like do your freaking research! There's no reason to say Charles Spencer is married to Sarah McCorkendale etc.

^^ Sarcasm?

no, honest curiosity. Do remember that US TV is not broadcast in the EU: I also would be interested to know as a Canadian how this wedding was watched/received in the US?:ermm:

That is why I watched BBC America! I didn't want to be throwing things at the TV.?
That is really bad--do you remember what channel you were watching/who said it?

30 million+ television views in the U.S. The numbers for internet streaming hasn't come in yet, but I'm sure that will also be high. The Royal Family Youtube channel had as of yesterday after the wedding over 25 million views, and it was only one of the many sites streaming. The international numbers have not come in yet.

I can’t wait for people to finally get it that he is the real deal ‘good, genuine, decent’. He gets knocked a great deal and I don’t think that is fair...

Do you ‘GET IT NOW’??

Scientific in this context means using a properly constructed random sample as opposed to a biased sample like voting on a website like this one. And the question you mentioned was not the only one iincluded in the polll. They also included net favorability score, I.e. the difference between the percentage of respondents who see a person favorably and unfavorably respectively, and the PoW’s Score was zero, which is the lowest among all royals whose favorability scores were reported. Camilla’s is probably negative, but ircwas not reported.

Here's a link to the poll, which was conducted in several countries, not just Britain:

https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default...nts/2018-05/royal_wedding_charts-may-2018.pdf

See page 8 for answers to the question "Which of the following members of the Royal Family, if any, do you like the most?"

Charles 8% (tied with Meghan but ahead of Princess Anne at 5%)
Camilla 2%

According to the survey, the Queen and the younger royals are the most popular.
