I'm reading the transcript from Meghan's last podcast with the ever-annoying USA Comedy Central TV host Trevor Noah. I'll return to post my opinion on the forum in a few minutes.
Re Trevor Noah, he's a comedian that was given the hosting opportunity to a big news show that mixes parody with real events. His height was during the Trump years, since the former president was the best thing that happened to comedy on TV. After that his true self as a left-wing celebrity, that can't even vote in the USA, started to come out more avoiding reporting anything bad on the new administration. While being critical of right-wing TV shows doing now what he did during the Trump years, basically twisting news around until the presenter's take on politics is the only one that matters.
That's her guest, for shorts. A funny guy that can't tolerate others' opinions. His bio, Born a Crime, about being born of a South African mother and a German father, is now in development for a movie with Mexican-Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o as his mother.
9:24 PM - still reading but tried to do a transcript trick I need to share!
When you open the podcast transcript page, hold the mouse over it and press Control and the F key (for find). That opens a window in your browser to do a word search. in this final podcast, Prince Harry is not mentioned by name not even once. But 'my husband' is there ten times. The brand name archetypes, which is to me how Archie's name was used for branding his mom's career, was used 16 times to dad Harry's zero.
The pronoun I', used as I'm or I'll, was there 71 times counting the guests. Part of me feels sorry for Harry, and another part doesn't.
Her other guest is Andy Cohen, the producer behind the Housewives TV show USA franchise. As a touch of irony Meghan introduces him before saying at the 8:56 mark:
My podcast about the labels and tropes that try to hold women back.
And in order to help us truly break out of these boxes for this, our final episode, I've enlisted some very thoughtful men in the effort men who've been behind some of the most successful movies and TV shows, but also who are part of cultural conversation in such an impactful way through their roles in media and also for some of them their roles as husbands and dads.
The sad part is the Housewives shows are the worst representation of women on TV since the show exploits, with their scripted help, every stereotype you can pack in one hour missing an MMA cage fight.
