I don't think that the Diamond Jubilee balcony appearance, which I assume was Prince Charles pushing his "slimmed down monarchy" idea, went down very well. I think most people want to see the wider family there too. And I thought it was awful that Anne, Edward and Sophie were excluded when they do so much work.

It's not unreasonable to anticipate that Harry might be booed if he emerges on the balcony.

He wouldn’t be. Most people appreciate that with Harry it’s half a dozen of him and six of the media. Most people wouldn’t even notice really and be positively overjoyed to see the children.

The biggest threat is Andrew. As long as he isn’t there we are all good. The Queen and the little ones is what most people will be excited about. And they are doing an amazing job of having the five oldest great grandchildren make appearances at the moment. A united family. That is what they seem intent on showing…minus two. But that can’t be helped.

It's nice to see him participating in normal recreational activities and even better with an old and loyal friend. I hope they had a blast, Harry was always passionate about Polo and has played at a professional level when he was a lot younger. I remember him saying a very long time ago that if he weren't a Prince he'd love to be a professional polo player.

It sucks for Pearl on Netflix but Netflix is going through somethings. They pulled Netflix from Russia & lost 70,000 subscribers. Along with the fact that their bussiness model isn't the best and a lot of companies are pulling their content so it'll be on their own streaming platforms.

And when a company wants to cut, animatin is the first to go because it requires so much money and takes so long to make (my favorite anime show one piece, a REALLY good episode takes about 6 months to produce) & their creative director for animation was let go along with their staff, with shows like Michelle's being canceled, hopefully this will help Netflix get on the right track.

That being said, at least Pearl is an Archewell Production so it can get picked up by a service that has the money and resources, they still got the signing bonus & we still have Heart of Invictus to look forward too! As well Archetypes for Spotify.

People were working on it, posted their goodbyes on twitter and seemed to have liked the project so crossing my fingers that it'll get picked up.

And POLO Harry, it's Harry I always love to see. It's so good to see him with Nacho, like a brother from another mother. I thought he didn't live in the states but apparently, he has a home here?

Their team won and Meghan was there to support Harry.

And course the DF would omit the part that was he invited by Nacho to the team to play polo for charity, which was this opening event.

Either way, it's good to see him happy and playing.

Netflix is losing money these days and needs to cut back.
This is just the start of the cancellations.

Netflix has issues. Loads of people leased them their content and they are all taking it back, or giving it to a higher bidder. Everybody has q streaming service now. I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped it all to be honest. They need to downsize and specialise in what they seem to do well: making warming blanket dramas.

What happened here in the UK, and I assume in the US and elsewhere as well, was that a lot of people subscribed to Netflix during lockdown because cinemas, theatres, restaurants etc were closed, you couldn't even meet up with friends and family, and there wasn't much else to do other than watch TV. Now, other things are open again, and people are looking to save money because of the rising cost of living, so people are cancelling their subscriptions. It's not that anyone's done anything wrong, it's just circumstances.

It doesn’t seem that the Sussexes have much to offer in return for their reportedly high paychecks, though I do hope it works out for them.

Prince Edward’s experience trying to work outside the royal family did not go well and Edward and Sophie needed to be brought back in. I am concerned that the Sussexes will not be able to sustain their lifestyle on their own, without regularly monetizing what they are best known for — being former working royals. This was The Queen’s concern all along. It seems that at some point, unless they can start to produce marketably lucrative content, the paychecks will disappear and they will have to accept a lesser lifestyle. I do want them to succeed, quietly, so that this “divorce” from the working BRF will be permanent. Maybe once they are happier, familial ties can start to be restored.

Depending on talking about the royals is one of diminishing returns.

They’ll be fine. If they have to lower their standard of living so be it. They can have a smaller house. Gasp the children could go to state school. They don’t need so many staff. There is a high living crisis at the moment. They will never not have money and his family will probably offer help…but they are the furthest from this.

I really think you are 100% right.

Netflix just decimated their animation department so it's not surprising that this show, which was only in pre production and as of only a few months ago was still looking for key figures and wasn't unique, has been cancelled. Although it is obviously sad for Meghan. It would depend on the contract as to whether it could be shopped anywhere else but if they do have a large contract with Netflix that would probably preclude it from being offered anywhere else unless execs specifically agreed. - No network or streaming service wants to turn something down only for it to be a big hit elsewhere.

I'm sure they'll be fine, they're not going to starve, albeit I believe they'll have to think carefully about how they go forward this year when everyone is out and about. It will be interesting to see what they offer Netflix next out of their "percolating projects". Heart of Invictus, whilst extremely worthy and hopefully well worth a watch is basically what Harry did with the BBC previously. It appears they have shot a lot of footage in recent months so either that will be part of HOI or perhaps a different "docuseries". I would not be surprised to see something timed for Harry's memoirs.

The Sussex's have a lot to offer. They trend, they sell things out, people would love to work with them.

They got the high paychecks because it's them and people can see they have supporters who will buy. Their fans, have done multiple fund-raisers for charity's in their name. That means, there is a base that's willing to spend money and companies will notice that.

Also, Meghan's podcast teaser became the most shared as soon as it was released. It shows people are waiting.

When it comes to Netlfix, they already got the signing bonus. Netflix was ready to go ahead. This comes Netflix making bad choices and needed to slash and save money, animation, sadly, will always be one of the first to go because it cost money. The animation staff was cut a week ago so a few people knew this was coming if you pay attention to that type of stuff.

Edward, had never worked outside & had no experience outside of the RF so he didn't do as well. Sophie, worked in PR but I don't think she had a focus in business or entertainment. Edward might've been better off if he had a solid base and the people around him, worked in the area. She also got caught doing something the Sussex's haven't done.

Harry, had projects that while under the name of the RF while he worked on it, were separate. Invictus got a deal with Boeing this year. That's a lot of money coming in and Meghan, was apart of the industry in some way.

You are right about the contract, my hope is that they have the chance to shop it too other people. I believe, there were a few services interested but they went with Netflix in the end.

Despite it not being 'unique' there is interest and companies would notice that. Pearl, was trending, Meghan was one of the few or only people being talked about with the cancellation, article after article so *fingers crossed* that we get to see it one way or the other.

As for Heart of Invictus, was announced in 2021, with the focus being on the competitors road to getting to the games in the Netherlands and based on comments, it seemed like they've been filming in their perspective countries about the journey and the pandemic getting in the way.

Netflix is not currently losing money, but it has lost subscribers. Netflix execs are concerned that Netflix has hit a ceiling (at least for now) and are reviewing their business model.

We don't know how this will impact Harry and Meghan yet. However, for the time being, we will probably see Netflix signing fewer big money contracts with famous people who do not have a proven track record of creating successful content. That is not to say that Harry and Meghan can't be successful in the future, but they had no experience when the deal was signed.

If Netflix had it to do all over again, they probably wouldn't have signed the deal. Regardless, they have a binding contract and this is an opportunity for Harry and Meghan to prove they can do it.

Personally, I am skeptical because absent their royal ties, they aren't really talking about anything new and different. We know they are passionate about several causes but there are a lot of passionate celebrities. What sets Harry and Meghan apart is their relationship with the royal family.

It’s now an over saturated market where before Netflix was the only show in town. It happens. Meghan and Harry won’t starve if this part of their plan doesn’t work out. I mean the Obamas too seem to be being dropped by places now. I mean there are people with talent who are good at this stuff and the perhaps the heyday of everyone being able to make a to show and have a podcast is over. It’s turning into a slick operation.

Harry in his shirt! Girl-Dad, it's so cute.

I like that he thought about his travels and what he took from tours to be apart of this program. It seems like Travalyst is really starting to come into it's own and I can't wait to see what happens next from Google to Expedia Group to TripAdvisor and etc.

Also, love to here him speaking Māori ~

And the video, he has great comedic timing. People will have issue's but I'm down for actor Prince Harry.

(also, I can admit, I keep the water running while brushing my teeth.)

Just a post to say I wasn't impressed by this. Harry out jogging by "himself" in this advert after all the wailing about Security issues for himself, and Family as the reason he couldn't attend The Thanksgiving Services for Prince Philip. It seemed very tone deaf.
Good luck with Travalyst and eco sustainable - friendly travel also.
Gas, fuel, food, ect.... is soaring and according to Economists we are heading towards a Recession. Timing might be off on this venture, which already got sidelined due to Covid.

I wasn't impressed by the video but it wasn't aimed at my age group (I do turn off the water when I brush my teeth). We are facing serious challenges - but there are always serious challenges in the world. Despite COVID and the economy, people are traveling more now and environmental protection is not an issue that can wait until the perfect time.

I believe that Harry honestly cares about the environment. I just don't want to be lectured by people who live in huge homes and travel extensively. That criticism is not only aimed at Harry, I feel the same way about statements made by Charles and William.

Can I ask you, how it makes you feel lectured?

I see this a lot but I don't connect to it ( as in I don't feel lectured ), what part of it feels like a lecture to you?

I guess, I saw it more as him promoting what he learned from the Māori people when visiting, he felt inspired by them and the skit was just a skit.

How would they be able to promote things related to the environment without talking about it. Of course, they should also talk about what THEY'LL be doing so I guess, is there a way they'd be able to get the message across in your eyes without it being a lecture and more of them promoting something?

Having people rated feels wrong on so many levels. The customer is PAYING for his holiday and the service provider rates the customer, having taken the money? No.

If the customer doesn't want to be rated, surely the customer can just opt not to make use of the Travalyst service? :ermm:

I make use of eco-tour groups and cultural sustainable tours when travelling and none of them rate me as a customer (to my knowledge). To be honest the only platform that I use that does this is Airbnb and that is understandable. .
I just think that Travelyst is not doing anything new or better then the hundreds of its competitors out there. I have done a cultural experience of New Zealand with National Geographic and if I intended during something similar again would probably go with them again. These tours however are not for everyone - and I am sorry to say most of the people in my group were bored due to the intense amount of information that you get on these types of tours. It is a lecture series I was told. But I wanted to know more of the history, geography and culture of the region then just see the sites and do the regular tourist things. And sometimes there are trips when I want to do the other, no shame.
But this is a niche market - and it appeals to very few people. This type of advertisement does not in anyway hit that target. The travel industry has been hit hard and countries that need the tourism money have dropped their prices to appeal to the tourist. With the cost of living and inflation worldwide increasing - do you think any tourist will not choose to pay extra for sustainability and essentially virtue signaling peaks over better costs and experiences somewhere else.
I simply do not know how this business model can work. Maybe they need to get involve in youth travel incentives or tours - at this point honestly do not know.

What on earth was that weird video about? I don't understand it. Was it advertising eco-tours? I'm fine with eco-tours or educational talks about conservation issues. I've been a greenie since way back when Charles started talking to plants and I've attended plenty of conservation-themed lectures and guided tours. But I don't want the people I'm paying to provide my holiday entertainment to rate my conservation credentials. Is the notion of being "rated" supposed to induce people to buy their product? I find it bewildering.
