HH The Emir:The Syrian People Will Not Backtrack on Their Demands
Doha, September 05 (QNA) -
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al Thani said on Sunday that after the popular protests in Syria which entered a fifth month, it has become clear now that the "killing continued almost daily unabated and that the Syrian people will not backtrack on their demands". In an interview relayed by Aljazeera television channel, HH said that the question now is "how to emerge from the deadlocked situation in Syria?".

Doha Launches its Request to Host the 2020 Olympic Games
Doha, August 26 (QNA) -
HH the Heir Apparent and Chairman of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani today announced the official launch of the Doha bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games and games of persons with special needs. Following the confirmation which Qatar Olympic Committee received from President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge on the flexibility of the date for the organizing of the Olympic Games 2020, HH the Heir Apparent said “in light of the decision taken by President Rogge and the executive office of the International Olympic Committee, I am pleased to officially announce the Doha bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games and games of persons with special needs."
HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said "this decision seems appropriate for the dream represented in the Middle East hosting of the Olympic Games at this time'

HH Heir Apparent Issues Decision increasing Salaries and Pensions
Doha, September 06 (QNA) -
HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued an Emiri decision No. 50 of 2011 on the increase of basic salary, social allowance and pensions for employees and retirees of Qatari civilians and military personnel, working in the state. Under the decision, His Highness ordered an increase of 60% on basic salary and 60% on social allowance for state civilian employees and 120% on basic salary and 120% on social allowance to military persons of officer ranks and 50% on basic salary and 50% on social allowance for military persons of other ranks, working in the military bodies.
HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent ordered the decision to be effective from September 1.
