I agree with this - although if a gown has some amazing architectural details that bring drama then okay. But I think a boatneck gown with 3/4 sleeves, a modified a-line skirt with a very dramatic train and some crystal/embroidery embellishment on the shoulders going partly down the sleeves would be pretty...
That gown one of the British designers drew - the one with beaded lined cutouts in creamy white? Ugh - let me find and link it - would be gorgeous...

Of course, the back would need to be modified for modesty - but I really like this dress... It's hard to tell from the sketch though - but those sleeves aren't lace to me - they are a sheer net with beading and delicate embroidery.
