Meghan Markle: Wedding Dress Suggestions and Musings

Agree that with her small chest and lovely collarbones, a boat neck style would really suit her. I'm not normally a fan of boat necks, but the jacket she wore to Wales today looked great on her.

I agree with this - although if a gown has some amazing architectural details that bring drama then okay. But I think a boatneck gown with 3/4 sleeves, a modified a-line skirt with a very dramatic train and some crystal/embroidery embellishment on the shoulders going partly down the sleeves would be pretty...

That gown one of the British designers drew - the one with beaded lined cutouts in creamy white? Ugh - let me find and link it - would be gorgeous...

Here it is (front): https://www.popsugar.com/fashion/photo-gallery/44440026/image/44440032/Design-Caroline-Castigliano

And back: https://www.popsugar.com/fashion/photo-gallery/44440026/image/44440031/Back-Dress

Of course, the back would need to be modified for modesty - but I really like this dress... It's hard to tell from the sketch though - but those sleeves aren't lace to me - they are a sheer net with beading and delicate embroidery.

I like this dress as well, especially the skirt. Pair it with a boat neck top and more dramatic veil and I think we have a real winner.

The issue with the boat neck style, is the shoulders. I see people fussing about a 'modest back' (a bit of back is not immodest IMO but okay) but forgetting that for the Anglican ceremony, her shoulders are meant to be covered. She doesn't have to have sleeves, but she is meant to have shoulders covered. Some of these show a lot more then the collar bone.

The satin ones which are sleeveless, but at least cover the top of her shoulders, seem the most plausible option for boat neck style.

I do hope if she has lace she does the opposite of Kate, and goes full lace. Not another 'lace sleeves/top dress. A vintage full lace covered dress would be a better option. But hoping none.

Apropos of nothing :flowers: I like this dress on principle. Very pretty, very airy. Nice back. Nice fit.

However, I am going to disagree about a boatneck collar. Not my cup-of-tea. I'd go with a square neck over the boatneck. I still think a sculptured neckline like Letizia's would suit her, with a gorgeous very delicate splay of diamonds in a necklace, matching a delicate tiara and earrings. No blusher, or cape, but a modest train and veil coming out from the back of her up-do hair.

Color scheme may be gold since that is her preference.

The designer of Meghan's wedding dress is rumored to be Stella McCartney.

Not sure how I feel about that, since I generally do not care for her clothes.

We are going to hear a lot of rumors about who the designer is. However regardless who she picks, they are going to create a design for her with her input.

It's too much like Kate's (lace on top smooth skirt). Just would need some adjustments!

Not sure if this has been posted already but I came across this article:

I've never heard of Inbal Dror before but it would be nice if she choice a more unknown designer. From what I can see of the sketch I quite like the potential dress (but I'm taking this article with a grain of salt since the wedding is still four months away and nothing official has been confirmed yet).

:previous: That’s been around for awhile. Anyone that talks won’t be chosen.

No one has mentioned organza. Here is a tulle and organza scoop A-line wedding dress.

Oooh I think that is pretty. Very pretty indeed! It would definitely look nice on Meghan. And I don't think it's similar to what Kate wore. The only similarity is the use of lace but it's styled very differently, and the neck line is completely different than Kate's too. I love the back detail and the lace pattern. The lace and organza
combination is quite lovely.

For Meghan, some changes could be made to the skirt. Kate wore long sleeves with a deep plunging V-neckline. I like the 3/4 length lace sleeves on this dress.

Been posted a while back. If the woman was actually being considered, she wouldn't leak the sketches. Her sketches look like costumes for some period piece. I couldn't even imagine a modern bride in something like them.

A more unknown designer would be great. But an Israeli designer??? Why? If she was going to break tradition and not use a British designer, I don't see her using anything but American/Canadian. It would be nice to see her use a designer who is little known, but a British designer. Would be a great way to enter into the royal family officially.

Organza has been suggested. Pretty dress but too similar to Kate's IMO.

I didn’t have time to go through the posts. This is quite a long thread. And as the article is from the Mirror, I took it with a pinch of salt. Just thought it was interesting.

I figured and I wouldn’t expect anyone to go through the entire thread ( we obviously talk a lot ). Just wanted to point out it’s nothing credible.

I'm not a fan of the capes and to me they look very fall-ish/winter.

Haha, it's interesting seeing all the wedding dress suggestions and to see what everyone has to say about them though!

We should make a probable list of wedding designers ( it will without doubt be British ! )

I love Ralph and Russo wedding dresses ! They are absolutely divine to say the least ! Their new collection being showcased is beautiful !

Do you guys think Meghan would pick Ralph and Russo or someone else since she wore their design for the engagement portraits .
Interestingly Ralph and Russo didn’t post the pic of Meghan wearing their dress for the portrait on Instagram since they do post , without fail for ALl celebs who don their dresses !

:previous: Depends. If she goes with one of the big named ones:

-Alexander McQueen (doubt she will use same as Kate)
-Philippa Lepley
-Ralph and Russo
-Vivienne Westwood
-Erdem
-Jenny Packham
-Bruce Oldfield
-Amanda Wakely
-Stella McCartney
-Suzanne Neville
-Temperly London
-Caroline Castigliano
-Ian Stuart
-Stewart Parvin
-Sassi Holford

To name a few. Not to mention going with a little known designer.

A few new ones for me. Ritva Westenius

I don't think it's likely she will use RR for a wedding dress after using them for something else connected to the engagement. She likes to spread those labels around so far.

I think they'd like to keep Meghan as a customer. If they used her for blatant advertising they'd never see her in their clothes again.

Yes seems true and also could be the reason why they aren’t advertising Meghan’s outfit was that they were / are in the running for the wedding dress !

Fingers crossed !
