I had seen this as well, and it is possible Mary may buy something like this. That said, I would hope she buys a better quality of tiara, perhaps with interchangeable stones that can add to the depleted Danish collection.
 
I doubt that Queen Margrethe or Prince Frederick will bid for these pieces. The Danish RF is not known to be rich.
 
The Main House will never buy Prince Knud's Heirloom .
It will be money for the 3 Rosenborg Comtesses who don't need grand jewels nowadays. But why the Auction so late ?

Its a pity this tiara is being offered for sale, I was so hoping the main line of the DRF would have acquired the tiara in a private purchase. It would have paired well with the sapphire and diamond demi-parure to make a married parure.

The turquoise could also be used when Mary wears her turquoise jewels to make another parure as well. This tiara would be a great acquisition, what a pity that it wasn't purchased by the Royal family as I can't see them bidding for it at auction. You never know though.
 
Never know that it has turquoise setting and surprisingly I like the turquoise version more than the cabochon sapphire version (as someone who isn't a big fans of turquoise).
 
Sotheby's December sale

The next Sotheby's jewelry auction has alot of interesting colored diamonds and other interesting stones. No items of royal provenance but some very unique and interesting pieces. Like this emerald ring made from a stone recovered from a Spanish galleon wreck in Florida, the catalog entry has the full story.

Amethyst Tiara

Not sure I can picture any of the current royals wearing this amethyst tiara, maybe CP Mary or her sister-in-law Princess Marie since amethyst is their birth stone? If the Danish royal family added an amethyst tiara to their collection then all the Scandinavian royal families would have an amethyst tiara.
What do you think, which royal family should add an amethyst tiara to their collection?

Oh I’d love to see that on Crown Princess Mary. I think it would fit her style.

What a find! I am sure Mary or Mathilde would both be able to use this tiara well.
 
Would make a nice tiara for one the tiara less Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven Princesses and not too expensive either.

What wonderful choices! I am drooling over all three not able to choose just one if I had to. It is always so helpful to have the pieces shown on a model
