Danish Royal Family, Current Events Part 6: June 2020 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I suspect Prince Christian is outgrowing his Tailors measurements too quickly. He does look like he will be tall like The Queen. The Queen in white looks young and fresh and beautiful. She also looks very proud of her young men.

Yes, I was informed by someone of a similar age to Christian that that’s how they wear them at the moment…….

The daughter of the girl, who Christian X took with him on his horse, is present as well - a nice touch.

----------------

Let's go through the story about Christian X and the girl again.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CQBKXcugc98/
Briefly: While crossing the border on his white (chalked) horse, Christian X, who was actually a very sensitive man behind his rough exterior, was presented with flowers. One was a girl who had been adopted by a priest and his wife. He took the girl along with him on his horse.
The elated king asked her if she wanted to go with him to Copenhagen. Panic!! The girl couldn't see her mother, she had already lost her real parents and she wasn't particular keen on being taken away from her new parents! But fortunately the girl was shortly after reunited with her mother and all was well.
Christian X kept sending cards to the family, wishing them well, for the rest of his reign - and today the daughter of that girl is present.

Reunion celebration on June 13th

[...] The carriage ride will take place in the same place as Christian 10. on 10 July 1920 rode over the old border on the white horse Malgré Tout accompanied by Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Knud on horseback and Queen Alexandrine and Princess Thyra in the carriage.

I like the fact that QM is wearing white as Queen Alexandrine and Princess (whose name I can't remember, sorry!) wore white in 1920. Knowing QM I'm sure it's no coincidence. Also, I think the hat is similar to the one Queen Alexandrine was wearing - QM probably hadn't thought about how windy it might be.

What lovely nods to history!

Count Ingolf and his wife are present as well at this the most official part of the reunification.

Interesting. Given they were not mentioned in the press release, were they present as private citizens? Or were the couple guests invited by the Queen?

I always wonder whether it is on the mind of Queen Margrethe II and her heirs when they visit Slesvig/Schleswig that their branch of the Danish royal dynasty owes its throne to the failed diplomatic endeavors and subsequent wars to keep Schleswig and Holstein united with the Danish crown. And now they are celebrating the centenary of a peaceful reunification with (a part of) Schleswig.

They would have been invited, because passing the border was for invited only. - The public did not have access - for Corona reasons seemingly.

Do you know why they were invited to this event? How often are the Count and Countess invited to public engagements of the Royal House?

Fairly often I'd say.
Especially for events in east and southern Jutland, to which they can drive in a relatively short time and be home again pretty soon. - It seems plausible to me that while Ingolf appreciate being invited to DRF events, his health and strength isn't good enough for long events too far away from home.

He was also seen fairly often in connection with events when Joachim resided at Schackenborg.
It's my impression that Joachim and Ingolf has a pretty close relationship, and while living at Schackenborg mingled in pretty much the same circles.

It is no secret - from interviews - that Ingolf was the one of the Rosenborgs who was most active in reaching out to the DRF-core. (Something that was not universally appreciated among all Rosenborgs.) And that he has managed to establish a good relationship with the DRF.
It adds another positive trait to his personality.
I also suspect that Ingolf is pretty relieved that he is a "mere" count. IMO not sharing the feeling of being insulted and usurped and unfairly treated let alone "cheated" of the crown.

Every few years the DRF, or more correctly QMII, hosts a concert for various segments of the society.
Last time was in 2019.

This year there will be another such concert. On 26th October at Fredensborg.
https://www.kongehuset.dk/nyheder/fredensborgkoncert-for-filmbranchen

This time it will be for people in connection the movie-industry.
Someone like the director Bille August, with whom QMII is currently working on a project with, is almost guaranteed to be seen.
But also some actors, even bigger names may be seen like Coster Waldau (being married to a Greenlander, there is an added connection, should he turn up) and Mads Mikkelsen - who has one or two fans here on TRF ;) - may turn up.
We shall see.

M&F are a certainty, I can't imagine otherwise. Benedikte is a likely too.
And because Isabella and Christian are now so old, perhaps we may see them as well? We can hope.

The Queen Ingrid's Honorary Scholarship will be awarded for the 10th and final time next year.

To mark this, Her Majesty the Queen, together with her sisters Her Royal Highness Princess Benedict and Her Majesty Queen Anne-Marie, have decided to use Amalienborg's four mansions for a televised party performance in ballet and music. The performance will be shown in a gala show on TV 2 on March 27, 2022.

Princess Benedikte as Chairwoman is quoted saying:

“Since this is the last time that the scholarship is awarded, my sisters and I have decided that the mansions at Amalienborg will form the framework for a unique festive event where we can pay tribute to scholarship recipients in music and dance. For a long time, Queen Ingrid had a vision that the knights' halls should be used for cultural events that the public could benefit from, and we are pleased that we can now realize our mother's wish

HM The Queen will hold a Government Dinner at Fredensborg Castle on 29 September 2021. In addition to the Queen, the Crown Prince Couple, the government, the Secretary of State and a few employees from the Court will also participate in the dinner. The most recent Government Dinner was held in 2017 and the aim is for a Government Dinner to be held in each election period.

Wonder where Frederik is on the 26th?

I wondered that too. Isn't the Army dinner something that Frederik would normally attend? There is nothing else listed on the calendar for him. His stint as Regent ends on the 25th.

Mary is wearing a mess uniform.
It's a good uniform, very feminine. - It is, I understand, optional whether female officers wish to wear a skirt or pants as their mess uniform.

I notice the generals flanking QMII and Mary were wearing gala uniforms.

The dog gets to come to the banquet, too? :)

Isn't Mary's outfit just a military jacket over an evening gown? The evening gown is presumably not military standard.

The dachshund is a sweet little thing. Does it have a name?

No, it's a mess jacket with a gown. But You can't just use any gown.
You will sometimes see Frederik in a mess uniform as well.
This is just a more feminine version.
- such a feminine variant had been requested for some time.

ETA - did a double take when seeing Mary get out of the curb side of the car! So used to seeing her exit from the left when arriving with Frederik!
