The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales 2: Sep 2022 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Just a general question about how the Royal Foundation is funded. Is it through private donations or funded by the royals themselves or a combination of the 2? Would anyone be able to donate to HomewardUK?

It appears to be a combination of private funding and investments. It also appears that you can donate to a specific charity under the Foundation.

Has anyone watched Prince William's documentary on Homelessness? I think here in the USA it will be on the Disney+ channel.

Haven’t seen it yet but read that it was receiving mixed reviews.

Watched both episodes. I found it interesting, the first episode I found particularly emotional. The monarchy is in a safe place with William, he is a wonderful young man, carrying on his mother’s work. Using his position to try and make a difference.

From Cosmopolitan.

The critics' main issues are that the programme wasn't political enough, and the usual rubbish about how someone who has a lot of money and homes shouldn't be talking about homelessness. Only someone who *does* have a lot of money is going to be in a position to draw attention about the subject. The TV channels are not going to commission a documentary made by Joe Bloggs. And they know very well that members of the royal family can't talk about politics.

I find it interesting that the journalists reviewing the program are typically well aware that a senior member of the BRF cannot bring politics into the conversation but then criticize them for not doing so.

I give him a lot of credit taking on this initiative. Of course the "open up one of your castles" was going to be a response to this. Throwing money at a problem isn't always the answer. There has to be conversations about how to change things going forward. Some people are just a paycheck away from being in dire straits. I like that he has started the conversation. We are all aware this is an issue but it's good to see him bringing people together to at least try to do something.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Maryrose.
I have not had the opportunity to view it yet on Disney + but plan to do so this weekend.

What he is trying to look at , are the reasons people end up homeless. To stop the cycle was used quite a bit in the programme.
Yes we need more affordable housing, but the personal issues need to be addressed along with the home.
Not everybody who is on the street tonight will be rehoused, some will die first . If this project can stop some going on to the street then good luck to him.
I think people assume he is saying he is getting everybody off the street, that is not the aim, it would be good but it will not happen. His aim is different.

Prince William documentary receives criticism/mixed reviews.
Jan Moir has an article in today’s Mail, I am not particularly fond of her as a journalist but I think her article today is quite fair. I am not any good at links but it also strays on to other family members so I will not try and link.
