29 JANUARY 2004
Crown Prince Felipe's fiancée, Letizia Ortiz, seemed to be getting on swimmingly with her future mother-in-law during a night out in Madrid.

The former newsreader was accompanied by her husband-to-be and Queen Sofia when she stepped out for a new production of Tosca. The three were pictured smiling and laughing together as they arrived for the performance in the city's Royal Opera House.

Letizia, who used to present the main evening news programme on Spanish television, has become something of a national obsession since her engagement to the future king was announced. Already "Letty" confectionery has filled the shelves of Spanish shops and the 31-year-old's every movement is eagerly followed by the press.

The anticipation will reach its climax on May 22, when the happy couple make their vows in Madrid's spectacular Almudena Cathedral. By coincidence Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik will also marry his betrothed, Australian Mary Donaldson, just a few days earlier in Copenhagen. There will be more festivities for the Spanish couple as the celebrate Felipe's 36th birthday on Friday.

heheh thats good that Felipe stand on a step lower than the rest ;)

Hello!

Royals set sail for some nautical fun

The Spanish royals have been indulging in some friendly competition at the Queen's Cup boat race in Valencia. King Juan Carlos was photographed helping out aboard the Prada, which belongs to the fashion label of the same name, before setting sail with his own crew on the El Bribon.

His son, Crown Prince Felipe, was meanwhile pitching in on the CAM, which romped home in second place. The bearded royal received a warm embrace from his wife when he arrived back on dry land. Princess Letizia, who spent the afternoon in Valencia Yacht Club with her mother-in-law Queen Sofia, was clearly delighted at her husband's success.

And there quite a few other royal visitors taking part in the event. Princess Cristina, together with her cousin Alexia of Greece, was backing the Azur de Puig while King Harald of Norway took charge of the Fram XV.

The King and Queen of Sweden were also enjoying some nautical R&R, albeit of a less competitive variety. While the Spanish and Norwegian royals were battling it out in the waters off Valencia, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were relaxing on a motorboat off the coast of St Tropez.

Now that's off topic --

I'd just like to know what you think about this:
In my opinion Infanta Elena looks almost exactly like Queen Sofia, whereas Infanta Cristina takes after father; and Crown Prince Felipe...that's difficult but I'd say the shape of his face reveals a strong resemblance with his mother.
I wonder why is it so that in many cases the younger sister is more beautiful than the elder.

I've also noticed that Elena looks like her mother, although if you see pictures of Sofia when she was about 40 she looks much better then Elena looks now. And Cristina is (in my opinion) the better looking sister.

Everybody looks great in this picture. I love Cristina's outfit. Green soots Sophia relly well!!

Letizia looks really good.

The Spanish royal family seem to be very supportive of their athletes and athletic themselves. All of the members of the royal family were at the Olympics at some time or other. I think Sofia, Cristina, Inaki and Pilar were the only ones there the entire two weeks. Then the Queen and Elena were back for the Paralympics. During the summer the family is always out sailing and participating in regatas. Cristina and her family are often at handball games and Elena often participates in equestrian events.

Here are a few pictures, and a link to a video : http://www.informativos.telecinco.es/dn_16197.htm

Letizia looks very nice when her hair is styled like that; parted on the side and curled up on the ends. I wish she would do that all the time. The color purple looks nice on her. Actually, blue and purple tend to look nice on most people I think.

Oh well, here comes more pictures

From the Casa Real Website and from Getty Images. Seeger Press has a lot of pictures, you just have to search for "Nationalfeiertag Spanien". AAP image also have pictures, but they're similar to the ones already posted. The only from Seeger Press I'm posting is from Felipe and Letizia because I found it really cute. Hope you enjoy it.

My favorite thing about the Spanish Royal Family is that they seem like a family. The kids are around and sometimes they misbehave; there are genuine smiles and interaction. Anyone who follows this family knows they have problems and issues like every family, but at the end of the day they are so cleary and obviously a strong and united family.

That's also my opinion!
