:previous: I just watched a clip on the news about the awards delivering. What a lovely, heart-warming speech by Queen Letizia!

She referred Queen Sofia as "my mother-in-law" adding "I think that word never sounded better!" and told her at the end that would be hard following her path.

Queen Sofia, on her turn, also dedicated some words to Letizia: "now you will continue the job I've put so much illusion into. I wish yo all the best".

Article from ABC, with a video:

But doesn't "me lo has puesto muy dificil" mean "you made it very diffucult for me"? What was that in reference to?:ermm:

Maybe something like it's hard to step into Sofia's shoes after her good work for Unicef?
Sweet photos :)

:previous: Yes, that's exactly the meaning, something like: "You leaved a work that will be hard to emulate"

How i compare with you my mother-in-low?

Queen Sofia is a hard act to follow but I'm sure we''ll be saying the same thing about Letizia in a few decades!

It must of been moving event. It was nice of Letitia of said what she did and I am sure it would be difficult for her to step into her shoes but she will do good and add new things on the way, who knows. The picture where great and both ladies look happy and proud.

Yes it is and also the setting inside the Palacio Real being used more and more by Felipe VI is very refreshing!

In this case, it only makes sense using it. The signing of the Accesion Teatry to the EC was at the Hall of Columns of the Royal Palace ;)

It is so nice to see them everytime they "work" together! :)

So stupid. Two outfits perfect for the event. They do not know what to write anymore. Anyway very important we see the two Queens in joint events. It is rare up to this non-existent in other royal families.

I still don't get it. Two Kings, two Queens and a whole lot of confusion. My congratulations to Queen Beatrix who knew, when you abdicate as Queen and hand the royal torch to your heir, that's it, no more Queen, just a wonderful Princess Beatrix.

In Spain and Belgium, you have two Kings and their Queens and, to my way of thinking, confusion. If you are of an older age group your loyalty is going to be to your King, your Queen, and certainly not the younger set and as long as 'your' King lives 'The King' does not have the loyalty of his countrymen and women behind his reign.

So you have divided loyalties in a divided Royal House. For me, IMHO, there should only ever be one exception and that is a Dowager Consort.

The difference is that according to Dutch law a abdicated monarch reverts to her/his old status after leaving office and remember how Maxima isn't really a queen "just" Queen Maxima, Princess of The Netherlands.
