The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh: Old Pictures and Videos

I wonder whether there is any film on YouTube of the Royal couple's Australasian 1954 tour? The numbers that turned out to meet them then were mind-blowing. I think about three quarters of the Australian population saw them at different locations on that tour. They were young, glamorous, and on the first official tour since the Coronation. It was to have taken place in 1952, but of course the King died so it was postponed.

Absolutely stunning footage of these two. Before there was a William and Catherine and Charles and Diana, Elizabeth and Philip was the ultimate royal couple who stunned the world in those days.

Loved The Queen's royal wave in those days. Very elegant and regal.

Amazing no sound footage of The Queen and Prince Philip doing a photo shoot at Balmoral in 1976-

That is indeed lovely. Especially with the voice-over ?

Interestingly, she was announced as 'The Princess Elisabeth' and not as 'The Duchess of Edinburgh' :flowers:

Thank you everyone for your kindness in sharing the pics. I’ve enjoyed each one.

Elizabeth II has a beautiful hairstyle. It is so often you see the Queen wear a crown or a tiara or a pretty hat.

I think the key to royal style for, women and men, is in the way one carry oneself. Grace, dignity and elegance goes a long way.

That is all I ever wanted from Royals I admire. Grace, Dignity and Elegance.

I found this cover of the Spanish magazine HOLA! of the golden wedding celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.

I would like to see more photos of this event and also want to know which royal families were present. I only know that the Spanish Royal Family was present.

Young Elizabeth II photo

Hello everyone

Sorry for creating separate thread instead of looking maybe for existing one.

A while ago, I have picked up bulk of random postcards and photos in car boot and one picture caught my attention.

To my surprise, it is young Elizabeth II with her mom. Photo is 6 x 9 cm.
I am not expert so I was wondering if anyone could be so kind tell me more about photo? Maybe it is some sort of reprint?

Thank you for you help.

Young Elizabeth II photo

It was taken in 1951 at Balmoral, I believe the original is in the National Portrait Gallery. The lady on the left is The Queens sister, Princess Margaret.

Thank you so much for your help :) Very interesting :) Shame that not original but still amazing :) I have google it and found same photo. Thank you :)

I don't know who the others are but I wonder if the location is one of the Scottish islands during Britannia's annual cruise.

If so I would imagine the sea would have been rather chilly for bathing:eek:

Thank you! Judging by their clothes es I think its on the day of Princess Anne’s 6th birthday during the tour of the western isles (1956).

Princess Margaret looks rather cheerful despite being bundled up & holding what looks like a heavy overcoat. The great British summer look:ROFLMAO:

And very sensible shoes!

Does anyone know who are the friends and the children The Queen and Prince Philip went to visit in this video?
I can only recognize Princess Margaret, Anne and Prince Charles.
:flowers:
I spotted Prince Philip's mother Princess Alice (Princess Andrew of Greece) & the other older lady looks like the Queen Mum's sister Mary (Lady Elphinstone) so perhaps some of the people are of that family. I thought one might be Mary's daughter (Margaret Rhodes) but I can't be sure.

Thank you! :flowers: I suppose you are right.
The other children in the video might be Marilyn Wills (daughter of Jean Elphinstone) and Annabel & Victoria Rhodes (daughters of Margaret Rhodes).
Both Marilyn and Annabel were bridesmais at Princess Margaret's wedding.

What I find amazing is that the Queen's hairstyle is basically the same today as it was back in 1934. I guess she found what suited her best and stuck with it. ?

It's mildly amazing to think she's never, ever had long hair. I suppose the closest was around when she got married, but it's debatable?

I can't get over Anne's truly Philip-passed platinum hair as a child, either.

It's a great idea. No embarrassing bad fashion photos to look back on! I've got some horrendous photos of my teenage self with huge Dynasty-type hair in the late '80s, and photos of my mum with a huge beehive hairstyle in the late '60s. Not to mention the clothes that seemed really cool at the time but don't now. The Queen's got it right!
