The Duchess of Sussex's Maternity Fashion: October 2018 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It may come to something approximating that, Dman. This is only the beginning!

Apparently Megsies gumboots from this morning have nearly sold out. Wowski haha.

Umm, unless customers are in the market anyway for a pair of good gumboots for practical purposes, uh, why would they want to purchase them because Duchess 'Megsie' wore them? Ah, apparently everything the Markle Sparkle Duchess wears or touches is golden, including her husband... ;)

There's even a new children's book out about her beagle, Guy... 'ca-ching' goes the cash register, or rather click goes the paypal link.

.... I liked the white dress by Maggie Marilyn. It was perfect for the lively theatrical Wellington event.

I didn't mind the white tuxedo dress at all, except for a bit of tightness around the mid section I thought it was a fun thing to wear...

I too think the white tuxedo dress looks absolutely fine on Meghan. I especially love the Gillian Anderson (of X-Files fame) for Winser London Soft Wool Swing Coat that Meghan draped over her shoulders:

Meghan & Harry visit Courtenay Creative

There are no complaints from me at all by this point. :D Duchess Meghan has done herself, her husband, and her new family very proud on this royal tour down under. I see a very relaxed Duchess Meghan on this tour, feeling her oats and coming into her own in melding her 'Meghan-style vibe' freely and easily with royal sophistication, but absent of the stuffiness of royal strictures.

No one is perfect by any means. And Meghan doesn't try to be perfect. She's just finding a way to maintain expressing who she is, as naturally, gracefully, elegantly, as possible, often with a twist but also often in an understated, practical, matter-of-fact way. And with her clean lines and minimalist approach too.

As linked in Harry & Meghan South Pacific Tour Thread:

I'm glad to see Meghan wearing that iconic navy Antonio Berardi dress that she first wore to the May 2017 polo match! I love this dress! I mentioned it not too long ago in this thread hoping we might see it again. And lo and behold...

Probably, she had to have it taken out a bit in the midsection. ?

I love Meghan's makeup and her fucshia lip color, and the diamond hoop earrings (seen better in the above link). This is a gorgeous, iconic dress IMO. Thumbs up!

The Hello article says the earrings are delicate gold, but they look more diamond or silvery in the photos.

I like the navy dress, it’s interesting. I don’t like the cut out on the shoulders and I wish she’d have put her hair up...

I love the cut-out feature at the shoulders and underarms. I love every bit of styling about this dress, especially the asymmetrical cut-out hemline on the front and how the dress falls in folds. The zippered-back and styling on the back is to-die-for, but the front is just as pretty and unique with the sailor-suit inspired double-breasted buttons.

The below link shows front and back details. Of course, the dress is sold out. I would actually love to sew something like it instead anyway. ?

Antonio Berardi Navy Double Breasted Sleeveless Dress - Meghan Markle Dresses - Meghan's Fashion

This navy dress is everything I like about Meghan's style - except that I also like when she layers. I like that it has a geometric cut; I like her in sleeveless - she has great arms that don't necessarily look Athletic with a capital A. The Buttons and cut make it interesting. It's fluidity softens the overall look. And she looks good in navy.

And my gosh, I like that she can see beyond a neutral court shoe for dressy footwear.

I also am now believing that a number of pieces that she bought in the months since the wedding were purchased with a mind to (and hope for) becoming pregnant. Because they sure work with that.

And I want to put in a shameless plug for Muck products. I have been wearing Muck shoes for the majority of our ugly, lake effect, Nasty, cold winters for well over a decade now. They are non slip, waterproof and warm but not hot. They are a really stable platform for me to walk in our atrocious winters. And when we hit 20 below or over ten inches of snow, I swap out into my polar muck boots. They may be ugly, but they are my winter essentials!

Yes, I know, but it’s good the maternity fashion have changed.

There's some "fashionable" maternity wear that I wish would drop off the face of the earth and I'm sure Meghan wouldn't be caught anywhere in public wearing them. She'll definitely *not* go Hollywood and wear tight maternity clothes that serve to emphasize the "bump".

My favorite style of maternity clothing was the 70s look with a smock with an empire waist. Maybe with Meghan seeming to like going retro, we'll see her in some as the pregnancy progresses. ?

Whilst that might be true for some of her pieces, but I doubt that's the case for the Antonio Berardi dress. That was first worn in May 2017. Well before she's even engaged. Doubt Charles was picking up the cost of her work wardrobe yet. This is from her personal closet.

Now this is interesting to me Jacqui, that you think Charles is not paying for Meghan's clothing yet. I've been involved online in some pretty heated debates with people who believe that Meghan has been spending up to a million dollars of Charles's money on outfits, her hair and skin, jewellery etc since she married Harry. There's a war waging out there! Of course the DM is on the case as well. I think Charles may have paid for some of the outfits and accessories on this tour but not all.

I think Jacqui meant Charles didn't pay for the Antonio Berardi dress she wore to the polo match in 2017 and rewore today.

Nice to see the Baradi dress back. I liked it before and suitable now

Very pretty dress. I like the shoulder cuts outs. I'm less enthusiastic about the droopy hem, but I don't usually like those, so nothing new there. I think she looks great.

The things that are bought now, I have no doubt Charles is paying for. And it's reasonable as she is carrying out engagements on behalf of the royal family. And the cost of her wardrobe isn't unusual. Except when DM triples the cost to their heart's content just to boost numbers. Besides, the only person that should care about how much she's spending is Charles. If they've reached some kind of understanding, why is anyone else waging a war?

I also think some of the jewelry aren't necessarily bought with Duchy money. For example, I have doubts about Charles' money being spent on the Snowflake Snowstorm earrings. Those showed up precisely after the Mulroneys arrived before the wedding. Wouldn't surprise me if it's her own personal property, and she just wears them for engagements when it's fitting.

However anything that we've seen that she's already owned from before was obviously purchased by herself. She's not going to go out and buy another of the exact same thing just because she wants to wear it again.

I think anything work related Charles pays for...now the Tour I am not sure if that comes out of taxes (clothing worn on tour) or still privately paid. I'm sure she still buys her personal (at home or whatever) clothing. She and Harry are not destitute.

They get a certain budget from foreign office when it's at their request, beyond that, Charles pays for. I'm not sure if that's still the case when a foreign government (Aus & NZ) requests the visit. I know they pay for some costs related to the visit, but not necessarily clothing.

And yes, any clothing I'm talking about is related to her work wardrobe. Not when she goes to watch Harry play polo (unless it's a CC event).

Thanks. I wonder whether the Snowflake Snowstorm set was a wedding gift from someone in Canada. Perhaps the Mulroneys themselves. And yes, some people are actually calling for a revolution over Meghan' s wardrobe. You can explain again and again where the clothing budget comes from, but.....

Well it doesn't help with the media says she paid 18K for a dress when in reality it cost 6 or 7 K ...which isn't any different than the rest of them when it comes to clothing.

The Foreign Office will typicaly pay for the cost incurred in relation to an overseas tour (i.e. flights, hotels, transportation etc), but personal costs (costs of clothing, hair dressers etc) are privately met, i.e. by Prince Charles. Quite a lot of the on-the-ground costs are often covered by the host nation.

In the case of countries where HM is HoS, often the host governments may provide a plane for transportation (eg, the Royal Canadian Air Force usually provide a plane for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge or the PoW and the DoC when they visit).

:previous: Agreed the length is fine. It's the shape.

The tuxedo style calls for a fitted straight skirt. This bell shape makes her look boxy and doesn't work well at all.

I like the top half. And another NZ designer to the list.

An all black look to unveil a plaque.

I love the black dress. Very elegant and beautiful.

I just want to comment on the make up a bit. Her make up is usually on point, but I thought the a little bit more of pink color on the lip last night looked lovely.

The dress does show that necklace off perfectly. Such a beautiful stone. Not so keen on the back to dark colours though I know it's a nod to NZ.
