Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani (R) and his wife, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned arrive to the FIFA headquarters on December 1, 2010 in Zurich to attend the Qatar's 2022 World Cup bid final presentation before the world football's ruling body executive committee. Australia, the United States, Qatar, Japan and South Korea are bidding for the 2022 football tournament. FIFA will vote on the host country on December 2, 2010.

i just heard the speech of Sheikha Mozah in the FIFA headquarters on TV very impressive.
 
Qatar yesterday offered FIFA a “historic opportunity” to bring football’s World Cup to the Middle East in 2022, building dialogue across the religious divide and promising huge commercial benefits.

Sheikha Mozah's speech is interesting & I do think that Qatar has a very high chance of winning. They did great hosting the Asian world cup in 2006 (if I remember correct).
Sheikh Mohammed (the Emir's son) also gave a speech but I am unable to locate anything on it.
 
i didn't hear the speech(I'll do it know thanks to youtube and who post it here) but my mother did and she was impressed by her speech.
I also think that Qatar have a big chance they can do it and do it well and as the Sheikha said it's time the ME receive that honor.

I am very happy to see the world cup in our part of the world :)
 
It was quite obvious that Qatar was going to win, Sheikha Mozah's speech was impressive & the ideas of the stadium that they had come up with was also very impressive & what would be a good example to many countries.

They all seemed very excited about the win, Sheikh Mohammed & Sheikha Hind (watched it on TV) both were in tears.

They were greeted upon arrival at Doha International Airport by HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and HH the Personal Representative of the Emir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and HH the Special Advisor to the Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani

They did participate in some of the Asian games event in 2006, but yes they don't participate with Sheikha Mozah at many or lets say most events.
 
The Sheikha seemed totally at ease during her FIFA speech-I think as always she wants the world to see the best Qatar has to offer and it was natural for her to speak to FIFA. Congratulations Qatar!
 
Qatari royal family member killed in car accident in Iraq

A member of Qatar's royal family was killed in a car accident while on hunting trip in Iraq' s western province of Anbar, a provincial police source said on Monday.
The accident took place on December 5th afternoon in a bumpy area near the village of al-Nukhaib, some 200 km southwest of Anbar's capital city of Ramadi, a source from the provincial operations command told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
"The victim, in his 20s, was identified as Khalifa bin Abdulla bin Hassan bin Ali al-Thani, according to his passport," the source said, adding Thani was speeding his sport utility vehicle (SUV) for a prey when his vehicle rolled over, critically wounding him.
He was taken to a hospital in Ramadi, but died of his wounds before arrival, the source said. - XinHua
