I had been curious to see the Princes' credentials at the Olympics, but they were always turned inside out. Today I finally managed to catch a glimpse.

Princess Eléonore goes by "Princess Eléonore of Belgium" but Prince Gabriël uses the same name he's know for at the KMS: "Gabriel de Saxe-Cobourg"

I hope all is well. It sounds as if this visit to Belgium wasn't planned in advance.

Queen Silvia has according to the Swedish Royal Court for ”family reasons” decided to leave the Olympic Games and travel to Belgium to see her eldest brother Ralf, who is her last remaining sibling…. It really does not sound like it was a planned trip.

Ralf Sommerlath is 95 years old so it may not be good news :(

Who is staying until Sunday and who is coming for the Closing Event ?
Prince Albert will surely stay in Paris until the closing event, he hasn't missed a single day so far.

In the official Swedish calendar of events King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia are listed to attend until August 11, though Queen Silvia has already left Paris, see above.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are listed to attend until August 10, so it seems they won't attend the closing ceremony the day after.

Nor further information from other royal houses (yet).

Here are some photos of Haakon and Mette-Marit today:

I'm watching the men's 400m hurdles, where the reigning champion is Norwegian, and they panned to show Mette Marit applauding him from the box.

Editing to add - the Norwegian took the silver...

How lovely that the Belgian siblings were attending side-by-side with their (first) cousin (once removed), i.e. grand duke Henri.

A lovely post by King Harald and Queen Sonja this morning:

The Royal Couple are also eagerly following what is happening in Paris. Not a moment is missed! 👏🏼👏🏼🇳🇴

King Frederik and Crown Prince Christian will attend the Gold medal match of men's handball to cheer on the Danish team on August 11th. Wonderful!!

Prince Albert II of Monaco meets with the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luis Montenegro, at the Paris Olympic Games.

Three gold medals to Norway today, Haakon and Mette-Marit was present for the gold medal of the handball women and Jakob Ingebrigtsen on 5000 meter. Yesterday Haakon met weight lifter Solfrid Koanda who also took a somewhat supprising gold in 81 kg class today. The prime minister was also there this weekend. They certainly arrived at the right time after a rather bad start to the olympics.

Later today they will watch the mens bronze match in beach volley

King Carl Gustaf congratulated David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig of their gold at beach volleyball after a fantastic performance:
Sweden's fourth gold pleased King Carl Gustaf. He was impressed by the Swedes' effort in the final.
- It's great fun. Fantastic. It's been a long time since we had this flow. We have hit the medal target with flying colors as I understand it and we should be proud of that. The boys were very talented. A little shakey at the beginning of the tournament, but then it's been smooth sailing all the way. They were actually very, very good. They just whipped these guys around a little bit.
The king was seen dancing with the dance the crowd does with their arms when the players block a shot.
- It's fun. Everyone had fun. There is a wonderful cohesion in the audience. They got everyone up to speed.
After Sarah Sjöström's gold in swimming, the king said there were two queens on stage at the ceremony. Now the relevant question is how many kings are there in place at the Eiffel Tower?
- There are many in here right now. Everyone feels like kings, for a day. It's fun, laughs the king.
