The laurel wreath tiara and waterfall brooch are stunning on queen Mathilde, not crazy abut her earrings.

With Mathilde, we never know if it is a piece she actually owns or a loan, as he seems to borrow jewelry quite often. Those big earrings, however, look the same she wore at the Danish state visit return event. They are actually nice, but I agree they are not a good match for the tiara and the brooch.

I actually think she looked lovely. Would it not be great if the Queen of the Belgians could actually own the jewellery she wears?

In this thread I see the first pictures of the young Duchess of Brabant wearing her wedding tiara and when I saw her yesterday as Queen of the Belgians , what a difference. We really have a royal Queen.

She is a naturally beautiful woman and very glamorous. She still needs a second "proper" diadem though as an alternative to the Nine Provinces tiara. The laurel wreath and the Wolfers are nice, but they are convertible necklaces that double down as tiaras when needed. And even if Mathilde had Queen Fabiola's Spanish tiara, it wouldn't do the trick as Mathilde, I guess, would not wear it as a coronet, but probably in the floral configuration on a frame and with the aquamarines (rather than the other unknown stones), so, again, not as a diadem "strictly speaking".

What I am trying to get at, I guess, is that Queen Mathilde needs Queen Paola's (actually Queen Élisabeth's) art deco tiara. It will be unfortunate if Queen Paola really leaves it to Princess Astrid, who doesn't need it as much as her sister-in-law.

If miracles happened, the Cartier Maison could also simply return Queen Elisabeth's diamond tiara to the Belgian Royal Family, or maybe they could reach some reasonable agreement for the Royal Family to buy it back or lease it.

She could have worn also the Leuchtenberg Fabergé tiara . Prince Charles Count of Flanders gave to his Sister Queen Marie José. She never wore it because she was to old. Her daughter Maria Gabriella sold it.

And, again, the Belgian Royal Family didn't bother to buy it back, even though it was a historic tiara.

Queen Mathilde looks stunning the jewels are all fantastic and worn so well.

I bet the Fabergé tiara was a little too pricey for Philippe and its purchase would make the entire Belgian population riot. Although it would be a lovely tiara to see on the head of the young future Queen.

For me it is one of my favorite tiaras. Very elegant and beautiful! And the bandeau too.

I actually love the tiara. I love these Grecian patterns in general, but this one in particular. The photo of Queen Astrid with this tiara has become so iconic that it is hard for me to see the tiara separate from that.

Queen Astrid is now an icoon , but changing a wedding present by adding arches 4 years later is unusual.

I think adding the arches was a good thing. The tiara was worn on the forehead first, but as fashion changed it needed to go on top of the head. To have loose diamonds floating above the head / bandeau must have been a strange sight so I am glad they changed it.

Considering the versatility of the piece it is a pity that they do not have some colored stones in their collection which they can put between the arches. Sapphires must look quite nice.

The laurel wreath is a bit of a bore. But everything put together, not at least this wonderful dress, is just amazing!

Mathilde matches her (very few) tiaras with the grandeur of the event, so no surprises here. A necklace would have been nice.

I’m still hopeful to see the Spanish floral tiara one day on her.

The second outing for the lovely Laurel Wreath Tiara this year if I'm not wrong?

Queen Mathilde Jewellery

She is wearing the collar very low, a small delicate necklace would have been perfect IMO.

The third time I think. The first time being in March for the state visit to Canada. And for Crown Prince Frederick’s birthday celebrations.

The Wolfers would’ve been a very nice necklace to this dress, but as
Maria-Olivia says it would’ve looked strange together with the collar of the order.

The laurel tiara is quite beautiful and appropriate for a visit to a Republic, imho. I'm glad that it's back on rotation, as it seemed to have been retired for a while after Philippe's accession.

I am so glad to see it in the rotation because Mathilde has somehow made this beautiful tiara look twice as big as it is and it suits her better than any other tiara. She gives it the gravitas for the occasion.

Yesterday at prince Charles of Wales 70th birthday banquet Queen Mathilde was wearing diamond pearl earrings from the late Queen Fabiola and some substantial diamond necklace. Might it be Wolfers tiara/necklace or another historic piece like the QF wedding gift diamond necklace or Queen Astrid diamond riviere?

Queen Mathilde should have worn these fine earrings on the official pictures !
