I agree. Just when you think that Letizia "gets it" she loses it completely.

It is a perfect outfit to travel in and she could just as easily have changed on board to travel but, as seems to happen too often, Letizia treats these formal occasions as almost a petty irritant.
 
Day 1 Visit to the San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission on November 13, 2013 in San Carlos, California.

I am glad Letizia left her leather jacket in the hotel and chose a very nice professional outfit instead. I'd say the US are quite formal when it comes to events like this (they have a lot more 'black tie' events than eg in Europe).

That's a much better look on Letizia,I hope while she's in California she might hand Cher back her leather jacket!

i think it's quite an acceptable outfit to board a plane for a 10 hour flight but still look fairly composed and elegant. i have nothing against it, especially as she's just using it for travel.

This suit reminds me very much of Letizia in the early years after her wedding. This styling suits her best and she looks a polished princess.

I didn't mind the leather jacket for the farewell ceremony as its only a brief part before boarding a trans-Atlantic flight.

So far she has been looking good on this trip - she does always reserve her best outfits for overseas travel
 
Very nice indeed, perfect for the occasion, elegant and smart.
 
I have mixed reviews about the outfit Letizia wore when she was departing for the USA; if the departure was private/casual with just Felipe and Letizia, then I can understand why she wore the leather jacket. However, they were on an official farewell, I think a business suit or dress would've been better. Although I did like the rest of the outfit.

Day 1's outfit is nice, the colours go well with each other and I like her hair like this. It was also appropriate for an official visit.

I love Day 2's outfit, it's elegant, professional and appropriate. That shade of pink really suits Letizia. :)

Gorgeous pink suit. The pockets on the hips and belted jacket add a little weight to her which is so flattering, unlike the skintight black pants which accentuates her thin frame.
the skirt length is also flattering, making her appear taller.
 
I concur with the above posts - another great look from Letizia. She looks quite elegant and I hope the rest of her outfits during her trip to North America will be like this.
 
Another great look on Letizia! Love the black and white pairing. I'm not a fan of this hair-do, but that's just nitpicking. I still don't care for the way she rolls up the sleeves on her jackets though. Pretty shoes.

Agree on all points. That suit was elegant and flattering to her figure...perfect!:whistling:
 
EVERYTHING is stunning about this look! I cannot find fault in anything. She has out-done herself in this outfit. Kudos to Varela, as well...
