Prince's concern for friends - life's work risks being crushed
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel's everyday life is affected by the corona crisis. The couple usually have a packed schedule - but in the spring they have had to change their entire program and work mostly from home from Haga Palace, where they isolate themselves with the family.
But on Wednesday, Daniel made an exception when he participated in a webcast about young enterprise and entrepreneurship - issues he is passionate about and has his own experience of having previously run gymnastics.
The prince appeared to be in good spirits, and was going strong as he joked with moderator Linda Nyberg.
But Daniel also got serious when the call came in on the tough financial challenges self-employed people face in the wake of the corona crisis. The prince tells that he has people in his vicinity with whom he suffers.
- I have a lot of friends who run companies, many are incredibly worried now and suffer hard, he says and continues:
- You can think of yourself, if you have run a company for many years and it has gone very well - all of a sudden the customers are not there. You may have five or ten percent of your sales, employees to pay salaries, rent of premises and other expenses. The money may be enough for a month. It is an incredible stress for many entrepreneurs right now, employees too.
Prince Daniel thinks the crisis came so unexpectedly - but he hopes that entrepreneurs have proven to be inventive in difficult times.
- It's been so fast. But entrepreneurs are an incredibly creative family. It is about solving problems and creating solutions for others. That's my hope, he says.
Earlier in the spring, Crown Princess Victoria wrote a letter sent to the health service in all regions to support staff in the care:
“I know that a letter like this doesn't change anything. But I still want you to know that we are many who think of you and who feel tremendous gratitude for what you do."
Prins Daniels oro över vännerna – livsverk riskerar att krossas
Yesterday our CEO, Jacob, sat down and discussed what it takes to become an entrepreneur. He was invited to @prinsdanielsfellowship, an organization that wants to inspire young people to enterprise and entrepreneurship.
