I agree it's all a bit sad, and I suspect that these stories are mostly fabricated by reporters and editors whose main aim is to sell more magazines.
I also feel there is little point in speculating whether PA and CW are in a "real" relationship or not. Like most twosomes, they are somewhere on a spectrum ranging from "totally not interested" to "deeply in love", and that changes frequently or not, according to circumstances, events, availability etc.
In theory, both are free agents, and at present this seems to suit either or both.
PA travels a lot in order to promote the Principality, his environmental charity, and other interests.
CW seems to have carved out a life of her own, seemingly revolving around the Armani clan, modelling, travelling, self-promotion, and benefitting from the contacts she has built up through PA. All these are perfectly legitimate, and they would stand her in good stead if her life with/for PA were ever come to an end.
The two seem to rub along together quite well, almost like an old couple, in a comfortable relationship. If there are occasional signs of boredom on CW's face, well, how would you feel if you had to attend a myriad of events? They can't all be scintillating or deeply interesting. PA of course has been taught from babyhood how to flash a winning smile, but CW may still feel a bit out of her depth on occasions.
So, please, let's not be so judgemental about their lives or actions, and let's cut CW some slack. She's doing her level best. And perhaps she is exactly what PA needs to do his job and run his life - someone substantially younger, and not well educated, but willing to put up with having no real status.
Not many people seem to care whether an actor or popstar couple are married or not, or how many times. Seen from a wider perspective, it should not matter whether the ruler of a micro-state smaller than Central Park chooses to marry or not. He could even be congratulated for not having taken the plunge, in view of the messy conjugal lives of his sisters.
