Yesterday, September 5, Queen Sonja met with the Youth Group of the Children's Cancer Association Oslo and Akershus to decorate the "Tree of hope" at the Palace Garden with "the names of children who have had childhood cancer or who are now in the middle of the battle are written. (..) Every September, trees are decorated all over the country to mark International Childhood Cancer Month. Queen Sonja is this year's patron for @nrktvaksjonen This year's TV campaign goes to the Norwegian Cancer Society, which will establish family houses at the university buildings in Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen and Oslo"

Princess Christina and Consul General Tord Magnuson welcomed the Queen of Norway to lunch at the Royal Palace.
The Queen has traveled to Stockholm to visit a new exhibition at Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde with works by the Norwegian artist Lars Hertervig (1830-1902) and the Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Hill (1849-1911).
The Queen of Sweden would have accompanied the Queen of Norway to the exhibition, but has unfortunately had to cancel her participation due to a private funeral within the Sommerlath family.

Queen Sonja attended the opening of the exhibition "Hertervig - Hill. Dream and Reality" at Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde in Stockholm. She was welcomed by Fredrik Wersäll, the Marshall of the Realm, who is the Chair of the Board of the Waldemarsudde Museum.

Queen Sonja as Patron of this year's charity TV campaign visited to patients at the Rikshospitalet:

As a patron of the TV action several times, I have seen how much we can accomplish together. This year, the TV campaign goes to the Children's Cancer Association, a cause that touches me deeply. When we now stand together for children with serious illness and their families, we show what real care means. Their strength and courage are an inspiration to us all, and through our support we can give hope in a difficult time, says H.M. This morning, November 12, King Harald and Queen Sonja received a delegation from the Easter Island and Chilean authorities on the occasion of the return of remains from the Kon-Tiki museum. Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl had removed thousands of artefacts during his expeditions in the 1950s.

Today Queen Sonja received a lovely piece of jewelry made of shells:
