Today the Royal Court announced the dates for the King and Queens visit to Thailand. They will visit between the 17-19 February, and the purpose of the visit is to thank the Thai King Bhumibol and the Thai nations for their sacrificing help to Swedish citizens during and after the tsunami.

In connection with the opening of the Jokkmokk Winter Maket, the Queen received a necklace called The Swedish Link. The necklace consists of the typical stones of the 25 Swedish provinces - from noth to south, shaped during billions of years, and part of what has made Sweden into what it is today.

The necklace is 100% genuine Swedish handicraft, designed and made in Sweden. If you go here, http://www.sverigelanken.se/Ramar/frameset index.htm, you can click on the different stones of the necklace and read about them (though in Swedish).

What a beautiful necklace. That´s cool that they made it for her. By the way, notice how bright the Queen´s pants are. I guess that was on purpose. In case, she gets lost. It will be easier to find her.

From HELLO!

King Carl Gustaf takes a wintry break in Verbier!

As a skiing veteran, Sweden's King Carl Gustaf relishes a challenge when he heads for the slopes. That's probably why the 58-year-old opted for the Swiss resort of Verbier when taking time out from royal duties in Stockholm.

The Scandinavian royal jetted into the Alpine destination this week to spend a few days on the piste. Having twice taken part in the Vasa Ski Race, Carl Gustaf knows a thing or two about tackling a tricky run. And Verbier is considered one of the best resorts for advanced-level skiers.

With over 400 kilometres of pistes it offers something for everyone, but it's difficult black runs are second to none. There's top-class tuition available for practiced skiers, while the nearby Mont Fort glacier means true afionados can take to the slopes all year round.

Small wonder then that the Duke and Duchess of York, along with their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, are regular visitors. Footie ace David Beckham likewise opted for Verbier when he treated wife Victoria to a birthday break last April.

Yes, first time for a gun. But we have seen her with a bow and arrow before though.

BILD has a sad story about queen Silvia´s brother Jörg (63). He suffers from cancer of the oesophagus. He has gotten a chemo therapy firstly and was operated yesterday in Munich. The oesophagus was removed completely and the stomach was moved upwards, so that he can still eat and drink.
According to BILD, Silvia has offered her brother to come to Stockholm and to be treated of the best swedish doctors, but he has refused, because in Stockholm he would be alone (Jörg lives with his 2 children and his wife in Berlin)
Silvia is all time informed about the condition of her brother. The court didn´t reveal, if Silvia will go to Germany to visit her brother:

is swedish canser care better then the one in germany?

how long did her mother live in sweden?

and how many relatives live in sweden?

Well I would say no. Espacially as the hospital in Munich where he is has a world leading research center for cancer diagnostics and treatment. I would say they are more or less equally in case you get ill.

But the sentence "beeing operated secretley.." is really trash. I also do not make a press announcement when I go to hospital. And he is not that famous.

Well when you are sent to Munich for cancer treatment its a sign that the medics think the cancer already has developed to a very dangerous state. The Charite in Berlin is also very good for cancer treatment, so beeing sent to Munich is not a good sign.

Well I think Silvia will visit him, but of course it won't made be public!

i took a look at the state visit made to and from Sweden

what is missing is state visit from and to Luxumbourg
as its a new grand duke and gran duchess
they did a state visit to denmark 2004 or was it 2003

there should be a return state visit to Jordan in a few years

is rthere anymore monachy that we can expect a state visit from or to

The only incoming State Visit to expect from foreign Royals right now is from Luxembourg really, as they have a new Grand Duke & Duchess;
from Saudi-Arabia (The Swedish Royal couple made a state visit to Saudi Arabia more than twenty years ago which was never returned);
from Liechtenstein, but for whatever reason, Liechtenstein, like Monaco, doesn't really participate in the Royal State visit circuit;
and from Thailand, but then the Thai King & Queen rarely travel anywhere abroad these days.
What I really hope for is another state visit to Britain! That would be magnificent.
The King made one before he got married (in 1974 I think), but as Queen Margrethe of Denmark made a state visit to Britain around the same time but a 2nd one a few years ago, the British tradition of only one State Visit per Reigning Monarch has already been interrupted.
So why not another one from Sweden to Great Britain? It would be a most fascinating and glittering event to watch...

Yesterday the King had a "day off" from office work and official business and representation - and he made well use of it by going to Säfsen in Dalarna where he spent the whole day testing and driving different cars on a slippery course, trying antispinn other techniques on cars - and also drove a rally car for a while. The visit was strictly inofficial, but one of the people working at the place the King visited said to the press that the King is very people-friendly, nice and humble person, and the visit was a big success.

On the first view I´ve meant you were refering on GrandDuchess´post on the kings trip to the slippery course.
Here it would have made also sense to take the children with him. Especially Madeleine ;)

Yes, all three "children" in GB on a state visit...that would be great, but it would be very unusual. And prince William also present would be even more unsual.

A slippery course? Sounds dangerous. Well, I´m sure he had a good time then.

So someone had to tell ;). hmm sounds as a automobile and speeding fan he had a nice day for grown up boys. Maybe he dislikes just dislikes photgraphers who sit in a hedge, so called hedge hogs. I know several big boys who really would enjoy testing some cars. At that times I think its worth beeing king.
