This year it is 400 years since Gustav II Adolf granted city privileges to Norrtälje, this was signed on March 29, 1622.
- It is of course very fun and honoring that the royal couple comes and participates in the celebration of Norrtälje city. I look forward to showing our beautiful Norrtälje to them and how much has happened since the royal couple visited us 34 years ago, says Nils Matsson, chairman of the City Council.
During the visit, the King and Queen will see both old and new parts of the city, take part in history and current culture, and have the opportunity to meet elected representatives, business representatives and the city's residents.

King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia participated in the distribution of the Federation of Swedish Farmers' (LRF) gold medals and the Dairy Farmer of the Year award to Swedish dairy farmers at the Bernadotte Library at the Royal Palace.
In 1958, King Gustaf VI Adolf awarded LRF's gold medal for the first time to dairy farmers. The dividend has since been a royal tradition and today the King awarded medals to 50 dairy farmers from all over Sweden.
Director General of the Swedish Veterinary Institute Anna Lindberg and Chairman of LRF Palle Borgström spoke. Singer Hillevi Martinpelto and court organist Mary Ljungquist Hén provided the musical entertainment.

Kungaparet besöker Jämtland fredagen den 8 april _ Länsstyrelsen Jämtland

Discovery makes a documentary about the king's 50 years on the throne. Reporter Åsa Lindeborg interviewed governor Marita Ljung about the royal couple's visit.
- What does it mean for Jämtland that the king visits the county?
It is important to pay attention to and remember those who have made extra efforts in connection with the pandemic, the governor said.
- What does it mean for Jämtland that the king is the duke of this particular county?
It is of course extra honorable but I do not think we have any extra benefits because of it more than that the king may be a little extra very private in the county.
- How far in advance do you have to plan a visit like this and what are the preparations required?
It takes quite a long preparation, several months. Programs, participation, logistics, meals must be coordinated based on the court's wishes. Based on the wishes, we compose a program that interests and above all in a good way visualizes reality.
- Are you nervous about something going wrong?
We have planned very well and you can also be flexible if something unexpected happens. Nervous may not be the right word but a little expectant and tense maybe.

The royal couple meets ABBA - the secret trip to London
The royal couple are charging for an intense long weekend in London, and probably to meet one or more of the members of ABBA.
The royal couple will go in the end of May to the spectacular and very hyped "ABBAtar concert" in front of 3,000 supposedly jubilant spectators in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the court revealed when Svensk Damtidning was at the Royal Palace today. It promises both a great music experience and a nice nostalgia kick. And it will probably be very VIP-tight around them.
The royal couple has a lot on the agenda during their days in London. On Friday 27 May, they will go to a tuxedo dinner at the luxury hotel The Rosewood to celebrate the Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
The hope is that the planned audience with Queen Elizabeth can be completed: A royal super-summit, perhaps in the form of afternoon tea in her private apartment on Windsor.

It is interesting that the the reporter posed that question to the Governor, because last week with the renewal of the royal website, "Sveriges Konung, Hertig av Jämtland" was changed to simply "Sveriges Konung" in the listing of the King's names and titles, which suggests he is no longer Duke of Jämtland.

https://www.kungahuset.se/kungl.-huset/h.m.-konungen

I wonder if the reporter and governor are conscious of the change, and whether the King will make any remarks during the visit to clarify this issue.

Short video from the visit at Parkskolan
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited the county on Friday and stayed at Parkskolan in Östersund, among other places. There they met children who had fled the war-torn Ukraine.
- It is very exciting that they are here, says 11-year-old Victoria Chernikova.
And she was not the only one who thought so. In the corridor inside the School, crowds of schoolchildren had gathered to catch a glimpse of the royal couple before disappearing into the classroom where Victoria and her classmates were waiting.
- It is an honor that they come and visit, says teacher Iryna Ladnik-Hoppstadius.

The king and queen go to London to meet Queen Elizabeth. A meeting which, according to the court, now has the highest priority.
- It has been planned for a long time that the royal couple would visit Queen Elizabeth, and then also Prince Philip, but then came the pandemic and the visit had to be canceled. During this time, Prince Philip passed away and it is something that the king has expressed that he is very sorry for - this that he did not get the opportunity to meet Prince Philip as planned, says the director of the information department Margareta Thorgren.
But now the meeting with Queen Elizabeth will at least be over.
The official part of the royal couple's visit to England takes place on 26-27 May. And the hope is that queen Elizabeth will be able to receive the king and queen for an audience at Windsor Castle. Margareta Thorgren says that the meeting has informal character and if it goes as planned, it will be at afternoon tea.

I'm sure Daniel and Victoria would have loved to attend the ceremony, where their good friend Peter Forsberg got the medal.

Football players Caroline Seger and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were both missing during the ceremony.
- Caroline Seger and Zlatan Ibrahimovic unfortunately did not have the opportunity to attend today due to their matches. The medalists who do not have the opportunity to attend today are invited to come at a later time, the court writes to Svensk Damtidning.

The royal couple can't meet Queen Elizabeth as planned during their stay in London. The royal court reveals this to Svensk Damtidning.
An informal audience with Queen Elizabeth would have been one of the highlights of the royal couple's journey.
At the same time, it has always been mostly a hope. The British queen's health has been shaky.
Now the court comes with a sad message - Elizabeth is not well enough to receive the royal couple at Windsor Castle.
"For the sake of the Queen's health, no meeting during this trip in London", writes Margareta Thorgren in a text message.

The UK and Sweden have signed a co-operation agreement in life sciences, aimed at strengthening academic research and commercial collaboration as Britain seeks to deepen scientific ties with other nations after Brexit.
King Carl XVI Gustaf told the Financial Times that post-Brexit Britain faced a future of “endless bilateral agreements which will make life difficult — but we need each other in science. Our agreement ties together the really strong knot that already exists between scientists in Britain and Sweden, which we need to carry out R&D for the future of society.”

I do wish the Royal Court's communication team didn't have to always provide a running commentary on everything- their comments about 'hoping for a visit with QE2' have caused a stir among royal commentators- all simple for an unconfirmed visit by the Swedish Royal Press Secretary. It is a very odd way of doing things.

Nothing wrong in telling to the media that a meeting with queen Elizabeth and prince Philip had been planned for a long time. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, it was postponed, and planned again to be done now in May. The King spoke about this at his interview on his 75th birthday last year.
