King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit... - Swedish Press Agency _ Facebook
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia have broken their long corona isolation.
During their first official visits in eight months, the royal couple met doctors and researchers - and discussed the use of mouth guards, writes Dagens Nyheter.
- We must continue to hold on now, the king tells the newspaper.
During a visit to Karolinska University Hospital, Queen Silvia discusses the use of masks.
- I think many want to know why we are not recommended to wear them, because there are demands on them in so many other countries, she says, according to DN.
The Queen receives the answer that the mask according to the Public Health Agency's assessment does not provide sufficient protection, that on the contrary it is difficult to use.
- I do not think it seems that anyone can explain that so that you actually understand, the king says then and shakes his head, writes DN.
Among the stops were also Karolinska Institutet and the Swedish National Defence University. The royal couple also met Björn Ulvaeus and Jonas Abrahamsson, CEO of Swedavia, to discuss the impact of the corona crisis on the tourism and hospitality industry.
The royal couple has largely lived in quarantine at Stenhammar's castle outside Flen since February.
They have worked by phone and video link. Like many others over the age of 70, they have not met their grandchildren.
- A friendly neighbor has shopped for us. Otherwise, we have taken care of ourselves and tried to be careful, says Queen Silvia.
