We can expect a new picture of Archie on May 6th, their spokespeople kindly tell us.

but there is no need to do this. They are private people, now. They are responsible for themselves and do not have any public obligations any more. Aand Archie, they want to protect him. They want to preserve his privacy and so they are under no obligation to share pictures of him with the rest of the world.

All valid points. Whilst it would not be ununusual to release such a picture of the son of a royal, following the decision of H&M to step back, I think it will take some time to settle on how much they will disclose of their family going forward.

IMo, it really is up to H&M. I struggle to see how this is consistent withh all the secrecry around Archie'snbirth and christening, but it really is for H&M to define how much of their lives they want to share with the public. The public to whom they no longer owe anything, as we are regularly reminded, but the very same public who may be required for their "caring" brand. So lets see.

indeed. But they did the same thing last year when he was born. Didn't want to show him off but then they were releasing pictures.

You are right but I would be very happy to see him now. He must have changed a lot since Christmas !

Archie is the best way to create the interest now that they desperately need to stay relevant = to earn money.

We'll see how the privacy plays out anyway, Archie is supposed to be private but remains the grandson of a monarch, it's easy to protect or hide away a toddler but it will be impossible once he gets older.

Not sure what you mean by this. Did we not get an interview with the new family? Did we not get christening pictures? A year in review picture? How was that them not wanting to show him? The only thing was they wanted to do it differently, and they did. You might not have liked it but nowhere did they claim they never wanted to show him.

We really that surprised we will get a new picture? They never claimed they were going to hide the child. We have seen carefully selected images of him. I’m sure if Invictus Games were happening next month we would have seen him there. Also on the balcony of Trooping. Overall they have keep his privacy but sharing a picture of him on his first birthday was likely always to happen.

And clearly some still had that expectation hence they asking their spokesperson. Also we have no idea what agreements are in place per this transition. This very well could have been part of the package.

Princess Anne children have seemed to manage this just fine, they are both private citizens and we rarely see their children (usually only during trooping or the very rare paparazzi picture- and usually the Cambridge’s or Anna are there with them).
These two could have absolutely managed it, if they would just sit down and shut up at this point. This way people may actually think they truly are looking for privacy and a quiet life, even with living in LA.

I don't see that its impossible. If they live a private life as private citizens, its quite possible.

I agree with this sentiment. My god, these people are exhausting. It’s not necessary to release a statement everytime they plan to do something - just DO it. Of course, they want the extra attention the statement will bring
:ermm:....despite their claims to want a more private life.

They didn’t release a statement. The Telegraph asked them and they replied with 6 words.

well I'm no fan of what I see is going on, but then they are just in the middle of making their bed - so give them some time to adjust - but then, this is my sentiment for them, from the start; sometimes one wishes for them to just go in bed and sleep in it.

Or maybe it's the american natur of Meg to allways be on the change, improve or what ever.

You mean the Times....and, it is not clear at all that they were just responding to a question, IMO. If I thought they were, I wouldn’t have said what I said. Clearly we have different interpretations.

Doesn’t matter. It’s the same issue when the telegraph reported about the new foundation name, they could have said: no comment.

Journalist: Hey Harry and Meghan, now that you are private citizens and no longer have to adhere to royal expeditions, will you be posting pictures of your very private citizen child?

H&M: No comment.

See, so easy!
Eventually the papers would stop asking and they will have the privacy they want, or claim they want.

You think they just sent a random message to that one paper saying “You can expect to see him.” It is clear they were asked, but agree to disagree.

If you don’t want to see images of them then ignore them. It’s quite easy. Not seeing the issue of them posting a picture of their child on his birthday like millions of people do everyday.

All I'm gonna say here is that a picture of Archie would be a hell of a way to start their new instagram account.

yep - I hope I live to see an interview with Archie and/or other siblings about any of this one day. There take on it might to interesting.

There was no need to issue a statement and for the other side, if answering a question they could have politely declined to answer. Either way it’s out there and by their own actions it’s things like this that make me think they have a hunger for attention.

Sadly, imo, it will be inevitable that Archie will become part of the meal ticket.

Like Grace and Rainier fed up their children to promote Monaco.

Archie will inevitably have conflicting emotions growing up. Part and parcel. He got one thing. He could have had another.

I don’t care if I run across a photo of Archie or not - it’s not important enough for me to go out of my way to avoid it - but IMO, it’s odd of H and M to be publishing a photo of Archie when they claim to desire privacy for him.....and themselves.

I actually don’t see what the big issue is with announcing that they are releasing a photo for Archie’s birthday. Releasing one or two photographs isn’t “feeding him to the public” at all. I’ve been very critical of H&M and their actions and motivations, but I don’t think this is something that warrants critiquing.

I was questioning if that is what they will do.

So far they have pretty much been like the Cambridges and releasing photos.

But he isn't a royal baby and I would question whether it is warranted. He isn't the Cambridge children.

This beggars belief....they want privacy but do this?

(.....) If they wanted to share a picture with the world for his birthday, they could have done so without announcing it in advance.

They didn't announce it though. I literally only saw this on here. Not some worldwide announcement to the global press. It seems to me that particular paper reached out and asked. They answered.

One can have opinion on whether they should have said no comment or ignored the question, but they didn't. That is not the same as announcing.

Harry and Meghan have sent a message of sympathy to the family of a desperately ill girl who died during the lockdown. Harry had met her before. Her family say the message of support 'means the world to them.'

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...thy-message-family-girl-18-died-lockdown.html

Something so small but likely meant so much to the family in such a hard time. I can't imagine losing their child during this time, even if she was so ill before. Harry reaching out to them and remembering meeting them so much, would have been special to them.

Not to mention that it's a well known fact that there's a lot "fake" accounts out there. Especially for well known public figure or celebrity, it's an open secret that amongs their social media followers, there's significant amount of internet trolls and bot accounts (some stans even openly declare to encourage their fellow to create as many account as possible to "support" their star).

I think that is an excellent point with regards the fake accounts, or at least double accounts, to both support and criticise a royal or celebrity.

So when is Archie's birthday? And if they've shut down their own media and are no longer cooperating with the press who are they going to "release" the picture to?

Archie's birthday? May 6th.

There's always a possibility that they'll start their new Instagram with this picture. Or just give it to the press, though that option seems very unlikely, they still like some publications. They still have their website up and running, could use that.

Harry has recorded a special message to mark the 75th anniversary of Thomas the Tank Engine!! Featuring cartoon versions of the Queen and Prince Charles in the 1950s.

And article by our beloved Mail:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...Harry-records-message-Thomas-Tank-Engine.html

This sentence stuck out for me:
"It is not yet clear if the Queen sanctioned her image being used in the cartoon or if she even knew about the episode. Buckingham Palace will not comment on the footage."

Honestly - what a question! As if Harry would do something if the queen wasn't allowing it. (.....)

And this here:
"
It is not clear whether Harry recorded the episode before he and Meghan made the announcement about their move to America, on January 8."

As if they had uninvited Harry after that announcement...
