Everyone and everybody have voiced their opinion. Some saying that it was a planned PR stunt by Frederik (nonsense IMO). A few saying that it was perhaps a little over the top to appear on stage (merry or not) like an ordinary celeb. Few have any problems as such with it, because that's basically just Frederik being Frederik. i.e. folksy with the people. - And as one commentator points out; He has Mary as a contrast. Practically all are in agreement that this is something Frederik can do this while he is still a Crown Prince. And most are also in agreement that this will not damage Frederik's popularity, on the contrary in fact. Perhaps especially among the under 35ish. - But being ancient myself I don't feel I can comment on that. ? That I'll leave to those here on TRF in that age-range.

The prevailing consensus among the comments I have glanced on Instagram and so on, have been a mix of chuckles and bless him to "he will be the best king ever!" Very few have been negative.

It's most interesting in fact! And I doubt Frederik would have gotten away with prior to Mary. And had it been back in the 90's people would IMO again start talking about Joachim perhaps being better suited as king.
But Frederik has earned a lot of personal credits, especially in the past ten years.

I also think it’s worked very much in his favour that he’s been open with the Danes about who he is as a person, not just who he is as a royal. He’s given several lengthy interviews, many shorter ones, and he speaks relatively frequently and informally with reporters and regular people about a wide ranging set of topics, including various struggles he’s had and what he sees as his own weaknesses. So people can see he’s a multifaceted man with many good qualities but that he’s also not trying to pass himself off as perfect. There’s nowhere to go but down with perfection.

This is basically mainly about the sailing championships in Aarhus, but while there the BT journalist couldn't help ask into Frederik's stage appearance at the festival Thursday.
He declined to answer in a friendly, polite, quiet but no nonsense way, as is evident from the video.
He answered:
"I'd rather tell about how it is to be here (in Aarhus). Because this is where we are now. It's one of the biggest championships we have ever had in Denmark. A world championships for the Olympic class. And that's what we are here for now. So ask about that, or we walk (away)."

What's interesting however is the poll.
People are asked whether it was cool (fedt) he went on stage or whether it was embarrassing (pinligt).
You look at the figures yourself.

BT is a tabloid that is read by a fairly broad segment of the population, so I'll say the poll is a reasonable indication.

That was at Skagen, Polyesco. And their Australian friends sailed to Skagen to join them. The Handwerks also joined them there.

The whole party stayed at the summer cottage owned by the Skeel family, who were perhaps there as well.

The CP family appears to have spend almost a week at Skagen.

- It's not a large harbor and not really a marina, but a fishing-port taken over by small yachts and sailing boats during the summer months. And that odd mix is a part of the charm.
 
 
 
Isabella and Christian have both grown up so much over times we haven't seen photos of them. And yep, Isabella is looking like a typical pre-teen of the 2010s :D I wonder if she is now fitting into adult sizes as her dress reminds me of a summer dress I have myself from H&M.
 
Prince Christian and Princess Isabela are entering their teens. Christian is almost 14 years old.
When will we see Christian and Isabela more often at official events like Leonor and Sofia of Spain and the Princes of Belgium for example?

We've been seeing the Danish royals at more official events than the Belgians and certainly the Spanish imo. They for example were actively involved in the recent trip to the Faroer Islands (and previously to Greenland); in addition they attend several 'evening events' a year - and have done so from a rather young age.

Thing is that unlike Leonor, Sofia and Elisabeth, Christian and Isabella are still "just" grandchildren of the monarch. As such they aren't expected to participate in official events until they're 18.

That said, I think Mary and Frederik have found a nice balance in letting them be kids and at the same time slowly introducing them to their future. I think they're good at bringing them to various official engagements and their appearances in public will only increase the older they get.

I suppose you mean at more solemn or serious events?
So far the CP children have mainly taken part in the more light or child-friendly events, like unveiling things or celebrating someone or meeting the public.
And as Somebody and Archduchess Zelia pointed out they now have a lot of experience in that and as such feel pretty at ease in public and with being the center of attention. - Both at home and in relatively "foreign" places like Greenland and the Faeroe Islands (where the nature, language, culture and sometimes people are different) - and I hope soon Australia as well at a more official visit there soon.

I personally think that once Christian has been confirmed and supposedly has been taught about the church (depending how much he pays attention...?) we may see him attend services with his parents and especially Christian will, I believe, soon accompany his parents on more "adult" jobs. I.e. suits, serious stuff and loooong speeches.
Shortly followed around 16 or so by his first solo-event.
Isabella will follow closey behind I think. (There has to be a trained spare, just in case.) And around age 16 she can easily visit a kindergarten or two or a sports club on her own. - Or attend a sports event, lending support to Danish athletes. Perhaps especially her Holger. :D Also on her own.

It will be interesting though to see how big a role the twins will get. But we will gradually see more and more to all four children. Of course with added emphasis on Christian.
 
During the Faroer visit, Christian joined his father on one specific occasion. I remember several TRF-ers pointing out that it was a clear sign of Christian more formally growing into his role as the future crown prince and king of Denmark (before, he mainly attended activities with his siblings).

At least she is not suffering from the dreaded 'nomophobia', a condition officially recognized by the American Psychology Association that entails a fear of losing a cell phone!:bang:
 
Nomophobia? Never heard that one before, but it's logic come to think of it. :ermm:

"Again this year we have taken our four children on an adventure in Denmark with the Royal Ship Dannebrog. Today we tried our hand at blowing glass at the working workshop Backhaus-Brown & Glassmedjen, and then we also visited the carpentry workshop Egeværk. We were also past the polar scientist Knud Rasmussen's home. My husband could tell many stories about him to the children. It was a lovely day.

It's nice to see the children getting stuck in with Danish culture and lifestyle. It seems like an interesting workshop! I also noticed that Isabella and Josephine are starting to look more alike now.

True. But it's always nice that they share pictures of their day and activities. So far I haven't seen too many paparazzi or Instagram pics of the family; generally they are left alone (thankfully). :flowers:

Is it Christian jumping into the water?

And I see Frederik and his two sons, brought with them a lighter version of the wooden beam, the frogman aspirant-squads carry with them all the time when training around the corps-area.

Frogman aspirants wear red helmets until they have graduated - or much more likely - have left. So the red caps worn by Mary and the girls are appropriate.

thanks! Vincent and Christian are also wearing the red caps, only the qualified frogman Frederik is without, makes sense ;)

that is Christian jumping. In the Instagram stories on the DRF instagram we can see video clips of the kids jumping. We see Vincent, Christian and Isabella jumping. Josephine is in the water already
