Prince and Princess Charles-Emmanuel of Bourbon-Parma attended the dinner of the friends of the Orsay museum at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris on October 8, 2012.

Prince Carlos Xavier featured in most Dutch newspapers today. In an interview on BNR radio he said that companies like Royal Oil/Shell need to change their policies in order to survive in the long run. The companies need to focus ore on renewable energy. The prince is (among other things) the chairman of 'the board of 'Nederland Krijgt Nieuwe Energie', which published a report about the matter.

Hello everyone, this is my first post and hope that someone has the following information concerning the Ducal House of Parma. I have read the Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg renounced his rights and that of his descendants to the Headship but does anyone have a line of succession to the Headship of the Ducal House. Thank you in advance.

Grand Duke Jean renounced the Bourbon-Parma titles for himself and his family in 1986.

After Duke Carlos Javiier, the current succession would be from among:
- Prince Jaime (b 1972) [brother]
- Prince Sixte (b 1940) [uncle, only brother of the late Duke Carlos Hugo; unmarried]
followed by the other male-line descendants of Duke Roberto I's 2nd marriage to Maria Antonia of Portugal:
- Prince Philippe (b 1949) [non-dynastic marriage]
- Prince Alain (b 1955) [non-dynastic marriage?]
- Prince Michel (b 1926)
- Prince Eric (b 1953)
- Prince Michel (b 1989)
- Prince Henri (b 1991)
- Prince Charles (-Emmanuel) (b 1961)
- Prince Amaury (b 1991)
- Prince Rémy (b 1942) [non-dynastic marriage?]
- Prince Jean (b 1961) [non-dynastic marriage?]

The situation is unclear without knowing which marriages were considered dynastic by Duke Carlos Hugo and which weren't, and if the current Duke, as Head of the Royal House, has any plans to retrospectively recognise some or all of the non-dynastic marriages.

It seems that Hans and Ank Gualtherie van Weezel, parents of the Duchess of Parma, also attended the mass.

According to royalty-online, the Duchess of Parma will continue to work fulltime for the NOS after the birth of her 2nd child in two months. Her daughter Luisa stayed at home in the Netherlands btw.

The host in Castello di Grazzano Visconti was Count Giammaria Visconti di Modrone, former vice chairman of Inter Milan. The host in Soragna was prinnce Diofebo VI Meli Lupi, who lives in the castle of Soragna.

The duke also handed out some orders in Italy, the order is said to date back to 313, the year of the conversion of emperor Constantine.

Did the Duchess finally converted to Catholicism?

No,and there's no need for that AD 2013.

The last to confer the Costatinian Order, the Order of St.Louis and the Military Order of Merit untill the late Prince Carlos Hugo revived it all,was Robert, the man with the 24 children..or something in that order over a 100 years ago.So there's consistency with a little pause..This weekend saw the annual gathering of the Knights of all three Orders.

A day later in Piacenza TRH also attended Mass and after the Duke again conferred Knighthoods to individuals.:)

No Duchess or Princess of Bourbon-Parme has EVER been not Catholic!

Well then, this is the first one...The hullabaloo about denominations is way way out of time,..an ancient menmade nuisance really....and certainly not that relevant any longer here in Europe. What does count,as I saw someone answering a simular question...Is that they ARE in church and DO listen to the Word. And I think that covers it,that is ok.

No,tenue de ville will do,and does nicely as we see....

The Laws of the House of Bourbon-Parma have always stated the Members of the Family are Catholic.

Well there is a first time for everything so now they have a Duchess who is not RC. Presumably the children of the Duke and Duchess are being raised RC so that should make traditionalists feel better.
After all the Dukes father made a big deal about equal marriages and declaring other BPs marriages unequal and not recognized (Henri of Luxembourg comes to mind) yet none of his own children seem too fussed about that and did not marry equally.

I believe the D&D's daughter was baptized Catholic with much fanfare in Italy last year, and I'll bet the new one will be too. So there you go.

Yes, Princess Luisa was baptized Catholic last year in Parma (although with not so much fanfare).

Btw, many of the decisions taken in the last years by both the late Duke Carlos Hugo and Duke Carlos Javier clearly show that the (family) rules can be and have been changed. Marriages to commoners are now considered as dinastically valid, and maybe also the marriages to non-Catholic.
As long as the Bourbon-Parmas are happy and comfortable with their own new rules...

Exactamente Mafan! And that is ALL that counts! They are very much aware this is 2013AD,not BC and its menmade hangups and hangovers over nothing.:flowers:

I suppose Prince Sixte Henri does not recognize the Duke of Parma's wife as Duchess of Parma.

Technically speaking, if it were BC, this whole Roman Catholic or Protestant issue wouldn't pose a problem, would it?:whistling:

Do you imagine that anyone is too fussed about who Sixte does or does not recognize? They seem to be able to carry on with their lives quite nicely without needing his approval.
