Indeed. However he attended several big Events as Crown Prince for example the dutch Inaugurations in 1980 and 2013. But for the Queen it is the first big Event among other royals, but then they are married only since 4 years.

If my memory serves me right, the current King of Thailand was not at the 2013 Dutch inauguration, his sister Mahachakri represented the Thai royal family.

The King and Queen of Thailand will also be present at the Coronation of King Charles III.

Interesting, I think it might be the first time since 1994 that a Thai monarch has traveled abroad officially, and that was only over the border to Laos, with the last long-haul official trip seemingly in 1967. (Vajiralongkorn has spent a lot of...private time in Germany since his accession, of course.)

On that picture one can see that every royal guest was escorted by an aide-de-camp of the Royal Household, the Dutch officer even holding the Thai Prince's belongings (apparently the own aide-de-camp was not nearby at that moment). With assigning an aide-de-camp to every royal, they never will "get lost" and do not need instructions or so: just follow your "escort".

On this unusal angled picture the Prince of Wales is seen giving his belongings to his own aide-de-camp while another aide-de-camp from the Dutch Royal Household "takes over".

It looks like healthy mix of old aristocracy, new peers, military guys and archbishops.
And I am glad that Francis Dymoke will have a role.

It's very ethnically diverse as well. Quite a bit more so than the general population actually. So The King has succeeded in his aim of having lots of visible representation from varied communities. This is a good idea.

The Anglican Primate of Ireland is also included. A lovely nod to our friends & relatives across the whole of Ireland. Reminds me of when the London Olympic torch relay included Dublin despite it being outside the UK.

Probably not the actual Stone of Jacob from Genesis but a good legend none the less. Whatever its origins it remains an enigma.

They don't any of them look very happy do they? Sending it down to the auld enemy the Sassenachs. :D

When the Scots are not looking we could switch it with a replica & send that one back to Edinburgh.;)

:previous:What a magnificent work of art that screen is. It, like so many other "little" details, actually have an incredibly prominent part to play in the Ceremony itself. We are in for an awesome occasion, with ancient stones and thrones, gold plate dishes to decorate the high altar, newly refurbished crowns and gowns and a bewildering number of minute details and we are in for a visual feast.

But central to all of this pageantry, is the music, and I am beside myself with anticipation, dying to hear the swell of the organ, trumpets and magnificent music with soloists, full choirs and an orchestra. All of these varied styles will pace us through the ceremony from start to finish and, if there is anything we can count on it is that the music will move us in a way that just pictures can't.

Of all the music Charles has arranged for functions, none is more important than that of the Coronation as is sets the stage for his reighn.

Like you I am looking forward to the music, I am not particularly musical but

the King does like music and will have had quite a hand in the preparation.
I am really looking forward to hearing the selection within the abbey.

I'm sorry to ask if it has been posted but is impossible to go through all previous posts. Do we have the daily schedule of the coronation ?
What about live coverage out of UK ?
Thanks

Calling all Aussies.

Update on TV schedules for next Saturday night:

Channel 9 - main channel as I expected is doing the Rugby League (magic round so a real big deal for the code and the Channel 9 network)

Channels 2, 7 and 10 are all doing the coronation as is UKTV, 9GEM (9GO has the Rugby Union), Sky News Australia and Sky News Extra, BBC News, CNN and MSNBC.

ABC (Channel 2) is covering from 4.30 p.m. until 11.00 p.m. with a half hour break at 7.00 p.m. for the News

Channel 7 is covering from 4.00 p.m. until 11.30 p.m. with a half hour break at 6.00 p.m. for the news

UKTV is starting at 4.30 p.m. and going through until midnight.

Channel 10 is starting at 4.30 p.m. going to the news at 5.00 p.m. and back at 6.00 p.m. until 11.30 p.m.

9GEM is starting at 7.00 p.m. and going through until 11.30 p.m.

Sky News Australia and Sky News Extra are both starting at 4.30 p.m. and continuing until 6.00 a.m. on Sunday morning (showing what after about 11.30 p.m. I have no idea as there isn't anything else on after the balcony appearance and I don't get the idea that Charles and Camilla will be making multiple balcony appearances.

BBC News is starting at 4.30 p.m. until midnight.

CNN is starting at 3.00 p.m. and continuing until 2.00 a.m.

MSNBC is starting at 7.00 p.m. until midnight.

We certainly will have a choice - personally I am recording the ABC, Channel 7 and the BBC. As I will be at a dinner-dance I will need to watch on Sunday.

As for the concert - no information about which, if any station is covering it in the TV Guide although UKTV has been advertising it.

These times are all EST.

It has started , the diehard royal fans have started to camp out on the Mall.

Just one or two but it has started.

I've just been to one of the stately homes doing live outdoor screenings, and tickets are sold out already (I didn't want a ticket - I'd rather watch on my own TV than try to see over a lot of other people's heads!). I think there's a lot more enthusiasm for the Coronation than the press are leading people to believe.

I agree, it has really ramped up in the last few days. The drip feeding of information is quite clever, just enough to keep the interest but not an overload.

Wow. That is dedication.

I have my DVR ready to go. Lol [emoji23] I plan to watch it live, but have to get up rather early. So, just in case….

I haven't seen the photos yet but I can well guess who it will be. There are around 6 or 7 of them and they turn up at everything. One is called John and he wears top to toe union Jacks.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if that was true.

Or maybe the Welsh have had it all along & we've both been duped.

Elements of the liturgy are being previewed on Twitter by some royal watcher (apparently someone has leaked it before the embargo).
Among other things, the Prince of Wales will be helping the King with the robe before the anointing.

Prayers in Welsh, Scots Gaelic & Irish.

Personal homage by the Archbishop of Canterbury & the Prince of Wales. Also the homage of the people. That's new isn't it? Pity they cut the homage by the senior peer of each degree. Medieval & picturesque.

No mention of any procession by members of the rf.

It is in pride of place in the pub and claims to be the genuine stone, but I think it is at the Giants Causeway.

You could be correct.

So the Irish have had it all along. We've all been taken in.:D

There is a theory that the students who stole the stone in the fifties did not return the original stone but returned a copy. One of them was connected to a stonemason who provided the replica. I have no idea if this is true or not but it is a talking point. Monarchs of Scotland have been crowned on that stone for hundreds of years so there is the emotional tie.
I love a good yarn .

But wouldn't it be fairly easy to identify if it were a copy or not? (For one thing, that would mean the one on display at the castle all this time would be.)

Information about the robes to be worn at the coronation:

https://www.royal.uk/news-and-activ...t-glimpse-at-their-majesties-coronation-robes

And the order of service:

https://www.churchofengland.org/coronation/liturgy

So, after all the pearl clutching and garment rending it seems the only major change from previous coronations is the homage of the peers is replaced by an invitation for everyone to pledge their allegiance if they wish and only the Prince of Wales making homage on behalf of the royal Dukes.

There are additions that make it more inclusive - the greeting of non-Christian faith leaders after the service has ended. I suspect it's the first time in several hundred years that a Roman Catholic Archbishop has participated in the service and, of course, the use of Welsh, Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic.

Interesting also that the Prime Minister, a Hindu, will give a reading from the New Testament after the discussion on here about non-Christian involvement in a Christian service.

I am sure experts could age the stone, I am not really sure, but maybe they wouldn't want it tested what if it turns about to be a replica..

It is probably a yarn , but the pub in Glasgow has plenty visitors buying drinks to look at the stone that they claim is the real deal. The history of the stone is that it was used as a throne to crown every monarch of Scotland until the end of the 13th Century . Then the English King took it down to England where it remained until 25 years ago when it was returned to Scotland.
We have given the King a wee lend of it for his coronation then it will be returned to Edinburgh Castle. The purists think it should be in Scone Palace in Perth as that is where all Scottish monarchs were crowned. That is another discussion .

I love history I love the continuity , that is why I do my family tree, where we came from, what had to take place to allow that to happen. fascinating.

I live in a very historical area of Scotland.
