Interesting timing. Just today it was announced the committee that has been working on formulating an official apology ('excuses' in Dutch) for the Belgian colonial past in Congo, Burundi and Rwanda will not receive a majority in parliament - due to pressure from 'the Palace' who ensured that two major parties do no longer support the proposal.

And this is not only happening on the day that the king meets the Foreign Affairs Minister from Congo but also on the day that the Dutch prime minister offered a sincere apology (excuses) for the Dutch colonial history, specifically slave trade and slavery. And announced that king Willem-Alexander will be present at the yearly Keti Koti-memorial on July 1st when they commemorate the abolotion of slavery 160 years ago (after which they had to endure another 10 years of 'obligated work', so they were only truly free on July 1, 1873 - so, that will be 150 years ago next July).
