I also think that Hamdan and Rashid look very much alike. I always presume that the cuter one is Hamdan.. hehe. It is hard to be on either side of the fence. When our school was going on camping my sister was sick. Her teacher came to me and said "Oh, you are here. I thought you were sick today".

I have to agree, Jassim is VERY cute! I also find him more exotic and handsome than Hamzah and Ali. Have you ever been to Qatar or the UAE? Where can you find a spontaneous glimpse of all these drop-dead Sheikhs? As for Sheikh Hamdan and Rashid, da best catch would be Go-dolphin (Nad al-Sheba?), wot say Silver Charm?

It is an old Bedouin tradition not to publicize pictures of Sheikhas (their wives and teenage daughters). The emiratis have been good at preserving and adhering to that. You are not supposed to ask Arabs about their wives or daughters either (at least if you are a male).

But there are always exceptions. Sheikha Lubna, head of Tejari.com, has managed to carve a niche of her own. I have seen many pictures of her. I think this will change with time. Dubai is quite liberal. But Bahrain, Kuwait and, Qatar seem to lead the competition. I realized it when you told me about Sheikh Jassems mother being interviewed on the television.

Thank you for the info about Sheikh Hamdan, Silver Charm! :flower:

I had no clue he was into horses I must admit. As you mentioned, Sheikh Mo and his boys always outshine everyone. But I have seen a picture or two of Sheikh Hamdan and his sons. They must be into horses as well! Did you live there for a long time?

All of the Maktoums are into horsies and they babble on and on about how it's Arab tradition. I think there is a quote from Shk Mo about how it's in his blood since he's an Arab and from the desert and all. But a good friend of mine who rides endurance (sometimes even beats the sheikhs) will tell you all this is a bunch of hype because there weren't horses in the UAE until the 70's. It could be the 60's but I'm pretty sure it was the 70's. Of course horses were in the Arabian desert years and years ago since the stallion and mare that originated today's thoroughbred are descendants of gifts from the Sultan of Oman to the King of France in 1700's-could be 1800's. (Okay, I was never much for dates.)

Okay, long story short... Shk Hamdan's kids are into endurance also.

Also there was a photo exhibition in Dubai a couple of years ago with old photos of the sheikhs. One of the photos was Shk Mo's wedding to Shka Hind where there was some sort of horsie festival tied into the whole celebration. The photo was of Shk Mo jumping from one galloping horse to another. I just can't wait to see what he cooks up for his new bride!

I know, VERY beautiful eyes. They must be Mama's.

Nice smile too.

Give the guy a break. He's got a job to do & he does it well. Helping us analyse Shk Rashid vs Shk Hamdan's muscle build is not his priority.
Oh come on, he could at least delegate the responsibility for updating the pictures. I thought he was a humanitarian after all. :winkiss:

Just check out endurance websites for hunky photos of sheikhs sweating.

Mmmmm....I wonder what Sheikh Hazza's been up to lately???

Hi Everyone ;)
Lala, thanks for the link to the pic of Sheikh Mo's daughter. I couldn't tell them apart - Rashid and Hamdan in a couple of pictures I saw of them, especially from the side. I keep hearing Hamdan is the cuter one though.
I haven't been to the UAE.... Why are the rulers in the UAE called Emir or Prince and not King? Bahrain, etc. they use the title King.
I have one question for you... I was looking up pics on Sheikh Jass on that same site, but there were none - only some older guy kept popping up. Then this picture came up

http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/CF...1842&print=true
It says:
Caption:
DOHA, QATAR: Sheikh Jassem bin Hamad Al-Thani, head of Qatar club holds up the Crown Prince Cup of the Qatar winners' trophy after the match against al-Sadd at the al-Rayan Stadium in Doha 01 May 2004.

But that looks nothing like the Jassim  I've seen in pictures and on some television clips. It has to be an error. Hope adorable Jassim didn't morph into that! :p

There are also lots of pictures - well more than I've ever seen - of Tamim, a couple of him in Paris and in a suit. He's really tall, do you think he's over 6 Feet?

Silver Charm, I've heard and read about the great job Sheikh Mo is doing - but this isn't about his job, it's about determining which of his sons is the hottest and to do so, we need pictures, lots of pictures  ! Hehehehe     , just kidding... Now what makes you think that we want the updated pics of Hamdan and Rashid, just to compare their muscle builds :p ? Okay, well maybe just to compare them once in a while..... ahem  But seriously, it would be kinda nice to see some recent pictures of the Princes on his site. Perhaps it is like every father, they still see their grown children as little - maybe he likes those better.

Yeah Sheikh M is said to be a Humanitarian........ I'm sure it wouldn't be the first request to add new pictures of his sons :innocent: :p ;) .

Bibi :flower:

They are Emirs because they rule Emirates. Simple enough. Emir is actually Arabic for Prince and Emira for Princess. Atleast according to all the translators I used it is.

Bahrain only recently became a Kingdom. Just a few years ago, in fact. Before he was just another Emir.

Thanks for the response. Emirates = Emir, yeah simple, just wondered why they're not just called King as well, but, are there any wives using the title Emira, I've only heard the wives called Sheikha. So then it's probably just a matter of time before the other UAE become Kingdoms as well? :flower:

Thanks,
Bibi :flower:

The leaders are called 'Sheikh' which is translated into 'leader of the faithful'.

The president of the Emirates and all the crown princes are called Sheikhs not president or crown prince. Their titles usually begin with His Highness or something to that effect. 'Emirati' is the term used to identify natural born citizens of the UAE. Sheikha is a wife or daughter of a sheikh.

For example the President of the UAE (a born Emirati from Al Ain, Abu Dhabi) is called His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nayhan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He is referred to as Sheikh Zayed.

The UAE royals are styled as Excellency except for the Emirs and the Crown Prince. It is also this way in Qatar where only the Crown Prince (and former) are rightly styled as Highness. The decree stating the Crown Prince actually included elevating him to the style but didn't remove the style from his brother thus allowing him to retain his rank.

The rulers of an Emirate will always be listed properly under international protocal as HH The Emir of Whatever. The same as Prince Albert is HSH The Hereditary Prince of Monaco, Marquis de Baux and Infante don Felipe is HRH The Prince of Asturias.

I think the HExcellency title can also be given to plebes, in the UAE. Said Harib and Mohammed Al Abbar are two examples that I know of.

WELCOME BACK, Layla!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the clarification of the meaning of 'sheikh'. I was under the impression that the word had religious orgins and has been recently politicized. Many thanks for the clarification-again.

Yippee, you're back!!!!!

Welcome back hon!

We have missed you temendously! We are a stronger team now. :flower:

Bibi, yes I saw the picture of :D I wanted to spare you from a possible heart-attack.. hehe. It MUST be someone else. Looks more like Tamim, perhaps it is one his two elder brothers. Thank you for the additional pictures!

Well, ya....then I will just have to go to say...hmmm....Qatar to play with little birdie-don't you think???? :p

A falcon... ahem... I wouldn't mind some lessons from a certain Qatari ex heir apparent on how to train one  .

Since he's the ex-heir apparent maybe he needs a little spending money...And if so I would be willing to pay for lessons......Of course, I'm very interested in falconing and would be devout to my...ahem..uhhh...studies....
;)

Layla, thanks for the links! The uniform picture is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonder where we can find some more of those pictures. :innocent:

Hmmmm....does anyone know where I can find a falcon?
LOL! Exactly my feelings.

Thank you silver and La la for the warm welcome.

QueenB: my pleasure dear, and yes Prince J is HOT! They say a uniform makes a man sexier, but in this case I think it's the man who has made the uniform hot.

Here's another one:

Sheikh uffff Jassim

Enjoy

Oh my, does Sheikh Hamad have three wives? Well, I hope these rulers' boys don't turn out to be like their Babajis and Nanajis in this particular area.

Sheikha Moza is the third wife of the Sheikh (I think).

Here's another of Sheikh Jassim with Queen Elizabeth

I know the UAE Sheikhas don't have their photographs taken, but how about their counterparts, the Bahraini, Kuwaiti and Qatari Sheikhas?

Is that Hashim of Jordan??...what on earth is wrong with his hair on the left side of the pic??it looks like it's been smudged/blurred with photoshop???
why??,is he losing hair??
I just noticed the hairstyle. Maybe he was having a bad hair day. Looks more like Ali to me than Hashim.

he does resemble a lot to Ali,
His right side of the hair/left side of the pic has been smudged with some program/paint shop pro/ I know that feature.
i can't understand why?? ,they also did that with the pic of Rym and her dress when it was too short.
This is hilarious...someone who works at Petra is either too childish or is on drugs.
WTF?? are they doing

Thank you for links, Layla. Sheikh Jassem's mother is GORGEOUS! She is obviously a hard-working woman like Sheikha Fatima.

Hi Everyone,

Layla thank you so much for the Jassim pictures! I love the picture of him with Q. Elizabeth, he's so cute! Now I know Jass got all the looks in the Family. He sure did make that uniform... Breathless :flower: ... I've seen a couple of guys from Hash to Ali to Hamzah in their Sandhurst uniforms, Jass is my favorite.
I think that's Hashim, didn't Ali shave his head again and Ali's huskier and he's got a lot of hair on his chest, I'm pretty sure that's Hash - BTW, I hate when Ali shaves his head. Hash is taller, longer. But Jassim's bro, ahem, no comment. I doubt he's older than Jass, because he has that 'baby fat' look in his face - looks kind of young. :innocent: Don't know where that smudge came from - ahem looks like someone at Petra was kissing the picture ;) . hehehehe. :woot: Maybe they wanted to give Hash more hair, give him a wilder look :p .
Sheikha Moza - I agree she's beautiful :flower: - is Emir H's 2nd Wife, she's Jass and Tamim's Mom.... I think she has 2 girls and 2 boys. But she is the most visible of his wives. She was photographed, actually filmed for the first time not too long ago, breaking tradition of the wives and daughters not being photographed. She works so hard for Women's rights and to promote causes related to Women and Education - I think since the mid 90's. She's really smart.
I hope the sons aren't like that either  and are for marrying just one Woman  .

Bibi
