He was found out because he also stole a medal and put in on E-bay... (according to this article in Dutch).

Thank you Somebody for the article. The news about selling stolen items on Ebay and the court trial itself has been picked up. Adamo Canto, a catering assistant was jailed for eight months after a hearing at Southwark Crown Court according to the Metropolitan Police.

On a separate news, Lady Mary Colman has passed away on 2nd January 2021. She was The Queen's first cousin and the Extra Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy.

Biri has posted the news in the British Nobility thread (Post #1426). Thank you Biri for the detailed information in the post. I have also fixed the two links under sources. For some reason I could not access the link beforehand.

The Lady Mary Cecilia Colman, nee Bowes-Lyon died at her home on 2 January, 2021 exactly four weeks before her 89th birthday; she was maternal first cousin of Her Majesty the Queen, and wife of Sir Timothy Colman, KG, sometime Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk.

Lady Mary served as an Extra Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, from 1970.

She was born on 30 January 1932 as the second of four children and elder daughter of Captain the Honourable Michael Claude Hamilton Bowes Lyon (1893-1953), of The Royal Scots, and his wife Elizabeth Margaret, nee Cator (1899-1959), scion of that landed gentry family.

A niece of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and a first cousin of HM The Queen, her father was the eighth child and fifth son of the Sir Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, KG, KT, GCVO (1855-1944) & his wife Nina Cecilia, nee Cavendish-Bentinck (1862-1938).

The Honourable Michael Bowes Lyon was reported to have watched from the gallery of the House of Commons as the Abdication Bill was passed, thus witnessing the moment his sister became Queen Consort in 1936.

Mary Bowes Lyon, a childhood playmate of her cousins the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, was advanced to the rank of an Earl's daughter, in 1974, following the succession in 1972 of her brother, Fergus, as 17th Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne (1928-1987).

Mary Cecilia Bowes Lyon married on 10 November 1951 Timothy James Alan Colman (b. 19 September 1929) of Bixley Manor, Norwich, scion of the Norfolk mustard family, and descended maternally from the Adeane landed family.

Her husband was Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, 1978-2004, and chairman of the Eastern Counties Newspaper Group. He was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Garter in 1996.

She is survived by Sir Timothy and by three daughters Sarah (b.1953), Sabrina (b.1955) & Emma (b.1958) two sons James (b.1962) & Matthew (b.1966) and as well as ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Her eldest daughter, Sarah Troughton, is Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire.

Having the country's former top spy as Lord Chamberlain may be very useful to the Palace.

I bet they have a good old chat before her next PM comes calling:ROFLMAO:?

That would be totally unconstitutional. The only person with whom The Queen should be discussing State Secrets is the PM.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. He should be very useful. Between his knowledge and what she knows they could be a devastating pair. Because The Queen knows a great deal.

What a pair eh? A top notch spy and a top notch Bond girl knocking heads together and sharing secrets. Oh my! To be a fly on the wall for that conversation. Bet its the Bond girl that keeps the secrets the best. :D

Ha ha, if the Lord Chamberlain thought he knew about intrigue at MI5, he may find that's nothing compared to the Intrigue at The Palace. Especially between Her Majesties staff and Prince Charles's staff.

Indeed I was only joking, in these dark times the thought of the Queen and her new Lord Chamberlain trading secrets about the person about to be driven to "Kiss Hands" with her as they watch his/her car being driven down the mall made me chuckle. Between them they indeed would be a formidable pair, their knowledge of things unknown to the public would be immense. How funny that the Queen has another top aide who is a spy - at least they know about this one this time!

Not sure if this is the right place but Pandora's box may have been opened with accusations of bullying between royal aides/staffers and other members of the royal family

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ying-complaints-not-related-Harry-Meghan.html

From reading the article it seems solely focused upon the allegations of bullying allegedly done by the Duchess of Sussex. According the the article, it appears that other members of the BRF ie the Duchesses of Cornwall and Cambridge might be asked to share what they witnessed of the Duchess of Sussex allegedly bullying her own and their own staff.

Even the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall could be dragged into the fallout surrounding Meghan.
Kate's former aides are said to be preparing to claim she saw the Duchess of Sussex's 'challenging behaviour', the Mirror says.
It was previously reported the 39-year-old had stood up to defend her own employees when they were told off.
A former worker said: 'That was just one of a catalogue of instances where Meghan spoke out of turn to staff in front of others.
'These aren't isolated instances and plenty of people witnessed Meghan's challenging behaviour.'
It is now said both she and Prince Charles's wife Camilla could be called upon to help the probe into Meghan's alleged behaviour.

The article speaks primarily of the Duchess of Sussex but also indicates that there are other supposedly bullying among staff members themselves that could be exposed.

But the latest complainants are said to not have the Duchess in their sights, with their claims focused elsewhere in the Royal Household, the*Sun*reports.

Also Prince Andrew's antics towards his staff has been well published in the past and yet no inquiry was ever done by BP.

And if a "principal" such as the DoY has had a complaint of bullying filed against him, then like we're seeing with the DssoS it should be investigated. IMHO Jason Knauf's email to the head of BP's HR asked an excellent question in how would HR respond if a principal was being abusive to a staff member.

Andrew Parker Taken up Post as Lord Chamberlain of Royal Household

After being appointed, ex-MI5 chief Andrew Parker starts his post as the new Lord Chamberlain of the Royal Household. He becomes the first former member of the security services to become Lord Chamberlain. Her Majesty's Lord Chamberlain is usually held by aristocrat. Andrew Parker would succeed Earl Peel, the great-great grandson of the prime minister Sir Robert Peel who resigned last year after 14 years in the post. Lord Chamberlain is the most senior official of the Royal Household. The Telegraph has suggested that he had his work cut out for him.

Was Lord Geidt's appointment prompted by the PM's current imbroglio involving the refurbishment of his Downing Street flat ?

Was Lord Geidt's appointment prompted by the PM's current imbroglio involving the refurbishment of his Downing Street flat ?

Without going into UK politics, yes, it's related to the Prime Minister's controversy on the renovation of 10 Downing Street. In this BBC article on the upcoming Electoral Commission Investigation, it also mentioned Lord Geidt's appointment.
No 10 has also confirmed the appointment of a new independent adviser on ministers' interests.

Crossbench peer Lord Geidt will take up the role, unfilled for five months since the resignation of Sir Alex Allan in November 2020.

Sir Alex quit after Mr Johnson rejected his finding that Home Secretary Priti Patel had broken the ministerial code over bullying allegations.

Downing Street also confirmed Lord Geidt would carry out his own inquiry into the funding of the renovations and "advise the prime minister on any further registration of interests that may be needed".

However, the prime minister's spokesman later said Mr Johnson "remains the ultimate arbiter" of the ministerial code - setting out rules of conduct - and would decide whether to accept or reject any findings.

Unlike the Australian Electoral Commission The UK's Electoral Commission has previously been accused of not being politically non-partisan (mostly by Conservative politicians) and hence the "PM would decide whether to accept or reject any findings" quote.

Jason Knauf, CEO of The Royal Foundation, and former communications secretary, is stepping down at the end of the year.

The timing is remarkable after his emails about the bullying allegations came out not long ago and I seem to recall him also making some statements about the support about writing Meghan's letter to her dad recently accompanied by his explicit statement that he was not taking sides.

However, according to the press release, he is leaving because of an planned international relocation.
Knauf will remain in the role until the end of 2021 before 'a planned international relocation that has necessitated his decision to stand down.'

Former MI5 chief Baron Parker of Minsmere to run Her Majesty’s less secret service

Tatler (no paywall):
The Queen appoints former MI5 chief Baron Parker of Minsmere as new Lord Chamberlain

(...)

The Times reports that Baron Parker of Minsmere, a recent Director General of the renowned intelligence agency, is set to take over as the senior officer of the Royal Household in April. It will mark the first time in history that a member of the Security Service has been appointed to the non-executive, part time role, which has formerly been held by the likes of bankers, soldiers, politicians and members of the landed gentry (the outgoing Lord Chamberlain, Earl Peel, is a Yorkshire landowner).

The Dutch news reported today:
"British newspaper: Buckingham Palace had racist personnel policy"

Upon reading, it refers to an article in The Guardian that states that at least until the late 60s the policy was that colored immigrants or foreigners could not serve in certain administrative positions but only as servants. It also claims that the royal household is still exempt from rules regarding discrimination based on gender or race.

I just have to look at the mention of the 60s to think that Buckingham Palace wasn't much different than a lot of other places around the globe. The civil rights movements started to gain momentum in the 60s in the US but through the 60s, as it is still today, it was a volatile, sensitive issue. If we really *look* at history, we find that Prince Consort Albert was actually a prolific abolitionist back in 1840.

https://albert.rct.uk/collections/royal-archives/prince-alberts-official-papers/the-society-for-the

I find it unnecessary for anyone to report of the standings of any people or institutions as being "racist" over 50 years ago as if it's a discredit to them today as the world was much, much different then and cannot be compared to how Buckingham Palace runs its staff today.

A non-story for me and frankly, disgusts me.

why? its a part of history, that the Palace did not employ people of colour in anyting but domestic positions. Why is it disgusting to state this?

It's not the fact that they've stated it as it *is* fact and *is* part of history but the draw of the article is to allude that BP still operates that way and discriminates. They show absolutely no "credible source" that leads one to believe that discriminatory practices are still alive and well in the management of Buckingham Palace today.

Buckingham Palace was discriminatory and restrictive in its policies in the 1960s. Fact. Buckingham Palace's policies are "racist" today. Accusation. This sentence is what disgusts me. "It also claims that the royal household is still exempt from rules regarding discrimination based on gender or race."
