Amazing news!! Unbelievable to think she's not even 19 and she's starting her international solo journey!

White this is not her first official event outside Spain it's the first time she'll be going solo.

What great news, Leonor will be coming to my country on her first official trip. I hope to be in Lisbon on that day.

Princess Leonor continues in Jaca. She has been seen walking through the streets of the municipality of Huesca.

The press releases from the Presidency of the Republic of Portugal and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain on the visit of the Princess of Asturias to Portugal:
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, will accompany Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias on a visit to Portugal on 12 July, her first official trip abroad. Princess Leonor will be received at the Belém Palace by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The schedule for this visit, undertaken at the express invitation of President Rebelo de Sousa, will have a particular focus on environmental protection and ocean conservation, priority issues for Portugal and Spain.

Minister Albares, together with his Portuguese counterpart, Paulo Rangel, will participate in the various institutional meetings to take place in Lisbon during the official visit.

The choice of Portugal as the destination for Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias' first official trip abroad reflects and strengthens the bonds of fraternity and close ties that unite the two countries.

Its a very positive indication for the future Monarch to be carrying out a Solo Official foreign visit at 18 Years old.

Are we even sure its Leonor?
It's very likely it's her. She's been photographed more times in Jaca. Apparently she and her fellow cadets are still training before graduation at the military school of Candanchu (where they were seen skiing this winter as part of their mountain military training)
Jaca is the biggest local town and the local festival is taking place this week.

Poor Leonor trying to enjoy herself and personally I'm against this sort of online intrusion!

I am very impressed that Leonor will be making her first solo visit abroad.
Like An Ard Ri, I'm disappointed that Leonor and her friends are being followed during their time off from studies.

Portugal is a neighboring country and President Rebelo de Sousa has a close relationship with King Felipe and Queen Letizia.

According to information, the visit will last one day, the Princess of Asturias will be received by the President of Portugal, she will attend an event focused on environmental protection and ocean conservation and she will meet with Spanish students at the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon.

It's a short trip, but a good start to her international visits. From January to June 2025, the princess will undergo training on the Navy's Juan Sebastián Elcano Training Ship. The ship crosses the Atlantic and visits ports in several countries where there are usually institutional activities, so as happened with her father, she is expected to be received by authorities in those countries. This visit is a good way to prepare for that.

Great news! Portugal is a great choice for the first official trip abroad! I will be in Lisbon, though I will be in the Hospital, so I won't be able to see the Princess.

Btw, it will be a busy week for Leonor since she has The Princess of Girona awards on July 10th (and the events related to it) and two days later the official trip. I bet that after that busy week she'll have her deserved vacations ;)

As Lula has said, Portugal and Spain have very strong ties and Portugal's President De Sousa's close relationship with Felipe and Letizia, makes Portugal the perfect country for her debut internationally without her parents.

I still can't believe that not that long ago, I was in Royal Forums looking of pictures of Leonor as a toddler.

I have to say her greeting and down to earth personality reminds me of queen Sofia's, who always greets, smiles, hug and touches like if she knew the person all her life. From the moment Leonor gets out of the car she is smiling next to the president. This is a big moment for her.

Will she be speaking Portuguese to the President and throughout her time there?

She will probably understand it, though I am not sure she speaks it. In practice many manage in 'Portañol' but I imagine the president may be able to speak Spanish, as many Portuguese do.

I still need to get used to those official departure ceremonies - in this case for only a one day visit. It seems a 'thing' in both Spain and Japan. Which other monarchies do (still do) departure ceremonies?

They played "Anchors Aweigh" for Leonor...?

I realize the Portuguese President knows her and is a family friend, but he sincerely appears extremely fond of her. The effect of today was something like Leonor going on a very elaborate visit to see an older relative.

The Spanish Royal Family has always had a very good relationship with the Presidents of Portugal, and the family is closely linked to the country because the Count and Countess of Barcelona lived there for many years (infanta Margarita has a house in the country). Portugal was also the first destination of the new King Felipe.
