Students around the world joined PETA in urging Prince Rainier to end the use of animals in the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica]For years, animals have been trucked hundreds of miles over mountain passes to take part in the festival. They are forced to balance on balls, leap through burning hoops, twirl on their back legs, skate and ride bicycles. [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial,Helvetica]A PETA videotape shot secretly at the 1995 festival shows a trainer jabbing and hitting an elephant with a bullhook to make her sit upright on a stool; a frightened, whimpering muzzled bear being forced to perform a complicated gymnastics routine; and a trainer pulling a panther by the tail and hitting the animal with a stick. Our investigator saw elephants swaying neurotically in the small, dirty truck used to transport them and depressed bears biting bars and rocking in their small cages. At least one of the circuses has been charged with smuggling endangered species, including chimpanzees, gorillas, tigers and Asian elephants.[/FONT]

They were obviously still using animals in 2002 when Pauline was doing all that stuff with the elephants, and Camille too come to remember it.... But maybe it changed after the death of Prince Rainier. Other things changed too, like the whole image and colors of the circus. So maybe the animal policy changed too. Let's hope so!

BTW: Stephanie looks AMAZING! Better than I ever remember seeing her!

I don't see how she does it. I'd be WAY too scared, especially when the elephant goes up on its hind legs!

Great - Nice to see Stéph smiling ... (one virtual kiss )... our circus princess ... helping that the glamour of circus does not fade away. Circus has to be supported more than ever - I never will forget childhood, where I could laugh about the clowns and watch the amzing flying artist, jongleurs etc. and all the unknown animals from far far away.
Aah I should "rent" some kids and ....... but monaco is too far away.

Nice pictures! I think it's nice that Charlene showed up. Stephanie and Albert look good, although Charlene is too pale, kind of like she's been ill. Or maybe it's just the light.

Lately Charlene looks like she has had some work done on her face. Her nose does not look so sharp anymore, a much softer look. It just seems like Albert is determined to morph her into another Grace Kelley. Now her hair style and hair length are very similar to how Grace wore her hair.

Stéphanie looks really great ! But Charlene doesn't seem to be enjoying herself, she looks bored and not at ease , she might not be sharing their love of the circus and is attending only to please Pce Albert .

You have to remember they had the circus for years. And Charlene just start coming to the circus. So of course she is going to look bore she never went to the circus in SA. In pic six who is Albert staring at it don't look like Charlene. But she can look like she enjoying herself.

It appears to be Charlene he is looking at. She looks unhappy and he looks mad in that photo. I've noticed she doesn't seem to smile a lot lately. Thanks for all the photo's but wish there was more of Stephanie and Albert alone.

I thought that Stephanie and Albert looked happy and excited, although I thought Charlene could have done a better job of at least pretending she was somewhat interested in what was going on. She looked uncomfortable, ill at ease, and bored. I also think she looks different, thinner and paler, like she's been ill.
