A Chair also has to know the subject of the meeting inside and out to keep the meeting going on an even keel. That not only takes skill, but also intelligence too.

Something tells me this hasn't so much to do w/the comments at the DM or other "papers", but a subtle way of the Palace answering back in it's own way regarding the mess that Hilary Martel's essay/comments produced IMO.

Subtle, but I'm afraid that might just go over some people's heads sadly. Still, it's a smart thing to do IMO and should have been happening sooner.

Didn't realize she had taken on a children's palliative care charity. Though her appearance will be item #1 covered, these difficult subjects will be given some daylight because of her.

Yup- she's done good work with it too. I was particularly impressed by her setting up a partnership between EACH and Hospice Malaysia, which she visited on her tour last year.

Not only that, but also staying in touch w/those children who have really touched her heart. When little Diamond, the little sweetie fighting cancer who rushed into her arms at Calgary Intl Airport during the Cdn Tour, had been blessed w/a Christmas Miracle of finding out that Cancer was in Remission, TRH sent out a statement saying how happy they were w/the news.

Apparently, they've stayed in contact w/Diamond and her Family too. That's only one story of many over the last two years too. Very impressive of her IMO.

Catherine is making a difference in people's lives, and that's very, very admirable. I'm happy to hear that she chaired a meeting that concerned a charity she wanted to work with. I can't to see what she does next in terms of new patronages, and as always, her way with people (especially children) is extremely touching and sincere.

I really happy to see catherine so healthy. that is the important thing, she really look fine.

I'm glad, but I hope she will also promote the arts!
The RF has always been patrons of the museums, the ballet, the opera...I think Kate should take on more of such patronages.

I know she has the National Gallery, but I think that's the only one.

I for one hope that she'll support causes that are not really touched by royals. Yes, the arts are important, but so are children's hospices, addiction, and many other issues. She can have a few patronages that deal with arts or course, but it would be nice to see her supporting something different.

Oh, wow, bring on the tissues!

Great article! A tea party with a real princess.... those kids will be in heaven!

Oh, absolutely! I can't wait for pictures :D.

:previous: The kids will appreciate it.

I work with young children, and I can say that getting to spend time with a 'cool' grown-up that's of a relative or teacher is a real treat. The kids that will spend time with Catherine will be on cloud nine.

I put this in current events but I think I'm wrong.........

anyway, this is a good video and shows how she has really grown into her role.

Her delivery in the video was fantastic- If she can get her public speaking up to that level, she'll be able to give some really special speeches.

And yes, in the last two years, Catherine has really grown into her role and she seems to really love it, which is important.

She is much more comfortable in speaking
I love hearing her speak

Excellent first video. She has definitely grown and gotten more comfortable in her role. I also think her public speaking is much better than when she first started.

To start with the positive: It's great she got involved with the Childrens' Hospice and good she made this video message.

But I must say I really don't like Kate's way of speaking, I definitely prefer seeing her to hearing her. Some words are over-accentuated, others almost swallowed, sometimes it sounds as if she is talking through her teeth. All in all her voice (not the colour, just the pronounciation) does not sound pleasant to my ears but very artificial and inhibited.
Is this the "aristocratic" way of speaking? Nervousness?
I am not a native English speaker, so it's interesting to read what others have to say about it.

I'm not a fan of thevoice and her words jumble (?) together, but a lot of people wait to hear the speech so messages get across. If you want to hear artificial watch videos for queen rania lol. Maby its the way theyr written and rehearse it but it sounds odd.

I'm a native British English speaker (as opposed to American) and she sounds fine to me. She's reading off an autocue - and she has little experience of that so it can sound a little stilted, but frankly most speeches sound like that. Only someone like Prince Charles who has over 40 years experience can be relaxed enough to ad lib! I think she's doing and sounding fine.

I think Catherine did a fine job in her first video message. I had been wondering when she would do it. The Queen, Charles, William and Harry are the ones that usually do video messages. Now Catherine has joined them in doing this and I think it's great.

I really enjoyed Catherines speech. She was very comfortable and has come a very long way when it comes to feeling relaxed. She really seems to have alot of compassion for children with cancer. Great charity.
