The Countess likes pale blue outfits for her spring and summer engagements. At the celebrations of the coronation, the Countess teams a pale blue suit with black hat, gloves and leather heels.
The black leather heels are very distinctive and have become a firm favourite of the Countess.

That would be very interesting. I think there's been quite a transformation. I have to say I find the Countess very elegant and soignee on all occasions. But what really stands out--at least to me--is how genuinely happy she looks -- that makes her really shine!


With regard to comparisons to Diana, well, I don't think such comments are off-base. In the JRF forum, Queen Rania and Queen Noor are often compared.....and while Diana set the standard for elegance and appropriateness in her day, the Countess seems to be doing the same now. I agree with those who find her to be the most elegant of royals in the British Royal Family!

Do royals--and I can reel off a number of names from all royal families--have stylists like the "stars" of films and TV do? They often are transformed from looking just like the average girl to WOW. The Countess is one example.....Diana another......Queens Noor and Rania are others and if you watch the Swedish and Spanish royal women mature, they've all become quite stylish. And a lot of them also become much, much thinner. It's just interesting to watch the progression. The Countess was cute but used to wear rather dowdy clothing pre-marriage......now she's stunning. Love her hair too. It's really softened her looks and is very attractive!

Christmas Fashion Parade

The Countess wore a beautiful red suit and white scarf for the Royal's Christmas morning service. HRH complimented her outfit with cream hat and cream leather mid calf length boots.

Ya know Sophie is stylish, but she just does not have that natural elegance that othe rwomen do. when I see her dressed up it is like she has to work extra hard to keep up appearances and with that she has to wear stuff that is really noticeable (but in good taste and stylish though so it is totally ok). But if she wore something more plain than it would not look that great as it would look on a more naturally elegant lad. you know how some women could wear just about anything and just be so elegant, I don't see that with Sophie.
But I am totally not crtiticizing her. She is working well with what she has and it is great fashion.

Agreed--after I wrote my last post on this thread, I looked at photos of Lady Helen and she wears her clothes with a natural elegance and style. I do think Sophie is becoming more comfortable with her style--takes work to find one--and it shows. And, again, she just looks so radiant at times, that, more than anything, makes her shine. If you see earlier photos of her, she DID look like she was trying very hard to "work at it." She experimented with what can only be described as Diana's early, fluffy style for awhile, which did not suit her at all, but she is improving dramatically. My opinion.

What kind of budget does Sophie have to work with--realizing many of her outfits are bought at wholesale or deeply discounted prices or outright gifts from designers? When I read the memoir of Sarah Ferguson, and the expectations of having to sometimes change several times a day, these ladies have to have a lot of money in order to maintain appearances.....

The new pictures really show how elegant the Countess has become in her short time as a member of the British Royal family.
I think HRH dresses conservatively but manages to portray such a fine and regal elegance.

i have to compare sophie to diana because of who sophie change after her engagement & marrage into the royal family.
1 her hair was darker before her marrage-after marrage it was a light as diana
2 her style of clothing is like diana's style
3.her hair cut is the same as diana's hair cut or style
but she dresses great and i think she has more style than any other princess around. her and diana's style are the same. does anyone else think that diana and sophie style are the same?

Edward receives 149,000 pounds for his official life, and he and Sophie have to use that to meet all of their expenses, plus any money they might have from business revenues. She works with a very small budget and royal policy is to pay for clothes at their proper price, so Sophie wouldn't be getting free clothes or discounted clothes (if the designer talks about it, they could get in trouble with the press and public).

The similarities are amazing both in terms of their physical characteristics and their sense of fashion. If I had to find a difference between the two I would say that the late Princess looked more glamourous whilst the Countess is more conservative in her fashion choice.
