The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, 6 May 2023

Now that I'm seeing all the pictures on Twitter, I can't get over how fantastic Kate looks. I didn't expect anything different, but it's glorious. And I love Charlotte's outfit as well. Her first McQueen! (Hopefully the first of many.) Also, Louis got to wear pants! I read on Twitter that the plan is for him to leave the service for a bit so he doesn't get too restless.

From the sublime Anglican chanting, to this little circus now. Next!

Every politician in the Abbey has been reminded of their uselessness by the archbishop of Canterbury. I'm a fan!

The Ascension Choir singing the Psalm was just beautiful!

Justin enjoying himself.

Seriously would turn Anglican for that man.

Charlotte and Catherine look as if they stepped out of a painting. Stunning

Wow. I didn’t know that.

There were others - Pictish, Cumbric & Cornish. All lost to history although there is an attempted revival of Cornish (similar to Breton). The Anglo-Saxons are rather nouveau.;)

Who is the woman in green-blue next to Charles bearing the Cross? Couldn’t they plan to have her wear a formal long whitish day dress? Her actual outfit ruins the vibe a bit.

Penny Mordaunt. Politician.

It looks like she barely knows what’s going on, where she is. Haha. So relaxed. Anyway the State Diadem would have been a nice touch of regality, I miss something

what is that supposed to mean?

Penny Mourdant. Lord President of the Council (Privy).

Camilla is wearing the amazing Coronation Necklace, made from platinum, gold and silver, and holding 25 amazing diamonds with a central pear-shaped diamond drop.

It was made for Queen Victoria and worn by Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary and the Queen Mother at their Coronations.

I was blown away when I saw it at the Platinum Jubilee exhibition at Windsor Castle but no photos were allowed - so here’s a snap of the replica available in the Windsor Castle giftshop!IMG_1964.jpg

A Coronation definitely in tone with our modern world. Not everyone's cup of tea.

William looks emotional during the sermon as well.

I meant she looks very distracted somehow, that’s just my impression. Like she knows that her part is in like half an hour so she looks very relaxed and looks around. It was nothing negative, maybe my wording was a bit interpretable as a non-native English speaker.

I do like Gospel but I'm not convinced this was the right place for it. It seemed a little contrived. Not trying to be mean or critical. Just my instinctive reaction.

The only thing inevitable in life is change. But to be unaccepting of it is to be swallowed by it. You can’t stop the tide with a broomstick.

The choir singing in English, Welsh, Scots Gaelic and Irish Gaelic is sublime during the anointing.

Or eclectic and inclusive. Diverse. If only of different music.

Distracted is not the same as relaxed.

I thought the procession into the church was breathtaking. When “I Was Glad” began it sent a shiver down my spine. The King, Queen Consort and Waleses with all their attendants, simply beautiful.

Zadok the Priest. I'm going to faint!

Handel's Zadok the King from the coronation anthems of George III. A magnificent piece of music!
