Anna von Koch from Svensk Damtidning interviewed count Björn and countess Sandra Bernadotte in Mainau a couple of months ago and now Damtidning has the interview on their paper magazine.
The main things from the interview:
Björn tells they appreciated that Victoria came to their wedding. She is open, friendly and easy-going. Björn and Sandra were at Victoria's and Daniel's wedding and Björn is impressed how great the wedding was. It was a great day and you could really feel that V and D love each other and are happy together. Björn thinks they are doing a great job and you can see how good they are at dealing with people. Björn and Sandra haven't seen Estelle yet, but she is so cute.
Sandra tells it was love at the first sight when they met at a university in Switzerland in the end of 2003. When Sandra saw that Björn Bernadotte lived in Mainau, she thought that he was a gardener there. The name Bernadotte hasn't a royal sound in Germany like it has in Sweden. Sandra thought that it was cool that a gardener wanted to study social pedagogy. She had no idea that Björn was a count living in a castle, she thought that Björn looked liked a knight from 1800's with his ponytail and dark old fashioned clothes. Björn prayed that he would get into the same group with Sandra when it was time for a team work. And they got into the same group. They worked together for six weeks and found out soon that they had great time together. Sandra says that Björn is calm, cool and considerate, and she herself is very impulsive. Björn says that his wife isn't very good in hiding her feelings.
Only at their first date Sandra understood that Björn really lived at the beautiful Mainau Castle. Björn told to Sandra that he had forgotten something at home and took her to his home. Sandra thought that they were going to a house at the town nearby. They sat at the castle kitchen for an hour and Björn persuaded Sandra to come up with him and meet his parents. Sandra was nervous just a couple of minutes, she soon found out that Björn's parents were very normal and nice.
The couple lives in the castle with their German spaniel Talia, 5. They like cooking and invite often friends to visit. They love to ski and hike at the Alps. Björn has a lot of work to do with sister Bettina at their shared ceo-duties of Mainau. Sandra has finally got her dream come true, she runs "Gardening for everyone, pro intergration" -program, which helps young people who have difficulties in preparing themselves to the working life. They get work experience and there is always people they can talk with if they feel insecure. There is now seven young people at the project which lasts eleven months. Sandra tells that sometimes the work is tough and challenging, but the youngsters give back so much. That is her baby and she would never want to work with anything else.
