Royalty of Malaysia current events part 3: April 2015 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Sultan Ibrahimof Johor was installed as the country's 17th King today, January 31, taking the oath of office in a ceremony at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur:

The previous sultan served exactly 5 years. In installing sultan Ibrahim Iskandar of Johor, they are following the established pattern that Johor follows after Pahang. In 2029 the current deputy (a position he has held since 2016 - so, it seems he is well respected among the sultans), Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak, is expected to ascend the throne.

I'll miss the Pahang royal couple. I thought they were the best regal couple Malaysia had that I can recall.

It is interesting how the fact that he has a Dutch son-in-law does not raise any interest in him in the Netherlands. I didn't read anywhere in the Dutch news that Malaysia has a new king (I don't think there is another country that changes king that often) nor that the new king is the father-in-law of the fellow Dutchman Dennis Verbaas.

Several years ago when they married and later had their first child, it did reach the Dutch news, including the notion that the sultan was slated to be king in a few years.

In December 2020, the Malaysian magazine "Nona" published an article with an interview part given by Che Puan Sofie Louise of Kelantan. In the interview, she talked about her past in Sweden:

I keep these words to this day as a talisman for myself."

[...]

Why was Fa-iz stripped of his position of crown prince a few weeks before his 50th birthday in favor of his younger brother Fahkry? Is this supposed to be a temporary position until the sultan's son is of age (which will take a while as he was born in 2021 - and I'm not sure whether he lives with his mother (who was divorced by his father a little over a month after his birth).

Fahkry had a very public and messy divorce about 15 years ago (his ex-wife accused him of physical and mental abuse) and didn't remarry - however, the sultan himself also has a rather bad track record in marriages.

The only explanation (that is not really an explanation) offered in this article is that it is in accordance with the sultan's authority to do so and that the new crown prince meets the requirements.

:previous: To clarify:

We don't know the real reason why Prince Muhammad Fa-iz was stripped of his title, but I think the Sultan had his good reasons (conflicts in politics? Different points of view?). Personally, I think that Prince Muhammad Fakhry will also keep the position of Crown Prince only temporarily: Sultan Muhammad V should sooner or later have a child with Sultanah Nur Diana.

The Sultan did not recognize the son of Oksana Voevodina (formerly Rihana Petra) as his own. In addition, the Laws of the Royal House of Kelantan are clear and would not allow Ismail Petra to ascend the throne in any case. I think the only heir of the new generation - if there is one - will be the eventual son of Sultanah Nur Diana.
