Hanan Baha Uddin Toukan
It is with the greatest sadness that we, Abir Muhaisen, and Haya and Ali Al Hussein, announce the passing of our beloved Grandmother, Hanan Baha Uddin Toukan.
Our ‘Tata Hanan’ was the most beautiful, gentle, graceful and pure-spirited, proud lady. She was humble, she loved and cared for people, most especially those who were poor or disadvantaged. She was also a proud Jordanian who was dignified, and elegant. She tried always to make her country, and her country of descent, Palestine, proud through her every word and action.
Our ‘Tata Hanan’ was a source of pride for her own family The Hashems, just as she was for her husband’s family, the Toukans. Together with our Grandfather, Baha Uddin Toukan, she brought up three wonderful children, our Uncle Alaa, our own Mother HM Queen Alia, and our Uncle Abdullah. We shall all miss Tata terribly, and we know that we share that with so many Jordanians who saw her as a mother and grandmother too.
Beautiful, kind and loving Tata, you cared for us, loved us, and stayed strong for us. We will miss you more than words can ever say. We take comfort only in knowing that you will be laid to rest next to our mother, HM Queen Alia, your own daughter who you lost so many years ago. We will bear the pain of your loss with the same grace and dignity that you have shown all these years.
If every prayer you said for us, every lesson you taught us, every kindness you showed us, every kiss you gave us was granted its own tear, we would never cease crying for the loss of you in our lives.
We love you and we pray for you. You will remain with us always.
