Royal Family of Belgium - Current Events Part 9 (Jan 2019 - present)

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
So cute to see Queen Paola and Princess Claire wearing matching colours, King Albert seemed to be in excellent spirits! Lovely.

The youngest is the only one home, and she was up to the challenge!

I just saw in live the arrival of Pope François , Head of the State of the Vatican, in Belgium. Two persons one was the Nonce Apostolique welcomed him inside the airplane . Then the King an the Queen arrived and welcomed the Pope coming out of the airplane in his Wheelchair. He wanted to stand for the 2 national Hymnes . Very short presentations and the Pope went to the House of the Ambassador of the Vatican in Brussels and the tradition is that he will sleep in the Ambassador's personal Bed. He needs rest after this long Day.

I saw in live , The King spoke with emotion in our 3 languages, the Prime Minister about politic in the world in 2 languages.
The Pope spoke in Italian and I am waiting the debrieving during the news at 1 pm.
I will not write anymore on the Royal Forums because the highlight in Belgium goes about the catholic abusors in the past. Their Victims (15) will be received by the Pope this afternoon , each may speak 2 minutes because of the translations and it is not interesting for a Royal and Fashion Forum. Its place is on the Pope thread and not the on Royal family thread.

Delighted to see Paola and Albert in attendance as well, hoping to see Astrid and Lorenz on Sunday too.

Also, isn't great to see the Hussars in full force in Laeken? More often pls.

All of this, however, is clearly outshined by the King's speech, addressing the abuses commited by the church. The Belgians must be proud of their King.

A very good speech by King Philippe, indeed.
I imagined that Albert and Paola would be there to meet the Pope, here's two pictures of them today:

Again, Delphine gets it completely wrong clotheswise... Wearing a mini skirt and platform shoes for a Holy Mass with the Deputy of Jesus Christ on earth present is a choice for a woman, who will be 60 years old in less than 4 years I cannot understand! Obviously, she was never taught when and where to wear the appropriate attire....? Of course, I will never know, if our Lord or the Pope mind these things, but for me it´s such a lack of respect for this special occasion.

I don't think she hasn't been taught, she just doesn't care. She likes to make people talk by constantly presenting herself as a rebel. She doesn't realize that at her age is just ridiculous.

Well said! I think her oufit today was very disrecptful to the Church/Pope and the Royal Family. She should have some diginity.

:previous: I completely agree about Delphine. It's certainly a way to draw the attention to herself, as it's often the case. Her children were dressed more appropriately than her.
In any case, good to see the Royal Family there in numbers at this celebration. Albert and Paola, who are 90 and 87 now, look rather well. Nice to see Laurent's entire family as well

Same as the Congo issue when he went there.
Philippe doesn't seem to shy away from issues that are difficult and that's the mark of an exemplary man and a good king.

It was nice to see so many members of the RF present for the Papal Mass ,Delphine as usual was craving attention with her choice of outfit.

I'd guess he got his hair cut in St. Truiden (if he and Nicolas did join)
Yes, certainly. According to Laurent's latest interview last week, his sons did begin their military training in August in St. Truiden

That's wonderful to hear!
What a diligent crop of baby Coburgs! Laurent must be beside himself.
