Red Cross Ball, Monaco: 2005 - 2019, 2021 - 2024

The red cross gala is the most important event of the year and according all the reports of the newspapers even Hello, the gala of this year was a sucess.
There were not important singers of Usa, but are there still very important singers apart Lady Gaga ? we are in Europa, there were french actors, french singers , business men , personalities , some princely couple as Serge of Yougoslavia and her wife or an another couple who was at the same table of Prince Albert and princess Charlene
The Monegash red cross raised a lot of money and this is important.
There are a lot of reports on the red cross gala and I could publish them
If Caroline and her children were present to the red cross gala, all the readers of this tread would have said ' oh the gala is glamour, Caroline is so stunning and so but there were only Albert and Charlene, no matter.

Why Pierre and Beatrice chose this date for their wedding ? the date of the red cross gala was fixed since one year ago? Two events in a one day, it is too much.

Disappointing that there are so few galleries and no videos as yet of the Ball. Is that an indication that it is not as important/glamorous as in time gone by? P Charlene nevertheless looked elegant as always and happy to be at the side of "the Prince of my heart".

The only difference is that in the old days we saw Hollywood celebbies, mainly because of Princess Gracia's links with her former profession. Then the media forgot what it was all about: a fundrasing event for the Croix-Rouge Monegasque, no more, no less.

Now we no longer see famous Hollywood actors but that does not mean that the event is less succesful. Monte-Carlo is full with unbelievably rich people no one ever has heard of and they donate large sums for the benefit of the Red Cross.

That is it. I also disagree that the Red Cross Ball is "the most important event". The Fête Nationale, the Grand-Prix Formule 1, the Diamond League Championships (Athletics), the international Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, the Monaco Opera and Ballet Season, the Rallye de Monte-Carlo, the Monaco Yacht Week, the Monte-Carlo Open (tennis), etc. are all much bigger and more important events than the Red Cross Ball which is what it is: a ball for a select group of people and that was it.

Personally, I don't see a problem with the Red Cross Gala and the civil wedding on the same day. The Casiraghis and their friends have never attended and Caroline and Stephanie haven't always attended in recent years so if it fitted everyone's calendar, fine. Albert certainly didn't seem bothered when he spoke about the wedding plans.

I'm a Caroline fan having followed her for nearly 40 years but she isn't the future of Monaco, Albert, and the family he has formed with Charlene, is. It seems natural to me that they would take centre stage and I found the pictures showed a very glamorous, high end event. Would it have been nice to see some other members of the family? Yes, but they had other things on.

I agree with Duc et Pair - I don't think it's the most important event, rather I ser it as the end of the "season" before the summer holidays and a return to normal events in the autumn.

For me the big event is National Day, I love seeing all the different family members together.

:previous:Good post Florestane I love Monaco's National Day too. The Mass, the appearance of the entire beautiful family on the Balcony to the cheers of the Monagesques...is always fun to watch. This year will be very special because it is the first with the little Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.:p

I enjoy the entire Monte-Carlo Season immensely...the Rose Ball, the Grand Prix, the Red Cross. No poverty, homelessness, unemployment, political unrest...It all just seems like another world filled with beauty and unimaginable luxury and glamour. :whistling:

Red Cross Ball - July 25, 2015

I agree it's not the most important / well known event in Monaco - surely that must be the Grand Prix, but it is known as the principal society gala/ fund raising ball of the season and as such has attracted world class performers ( Sting this year) and a tombola with some amazing prizes. Grace enhanced its status and set an elegance in dress/ jewels that has persisted to some extent. It's sad, but I guess inevitable that some of its traditional sparkle seems to have gone.
On a not totally unrelated point, I haven't seen any pics of Charlene with the traditional red and white bouquet which is usually presented to the Royal princesses upon arrival - another tradition gone ?

(..)

In tribute to the victimes of the terrorist attack, there will be no opening of the bal, no dancing and no firework. There will be a minute of silence
the concert with Lana Del Rey is held
the raised money will go to the victimes.

Among the victimes thare were persons who worked in the Casino, children of persons who worked on Monaco

That's a lovely gesture to give the money raised this year to the victims families. Just having the dinner and concert part of the evening is very respectful. I wonder if Charlene might wear a black gown this year as well. I don't think she necessarily has to but it will be interesting to see. Very sad situation.

I like the simplicity of the backdrop for the entrance photos - stripped back to the red and white colours of the Red Cross ( and Monaco ) .
A pity there appeared to be no other members of the family in attendance this year.

The Prince, an overweight and bald man, really should burn that white tuxedo. It looks extremely poorly tailored, way too big and ir makes him looking like a serveur in a restaurant.

Monte-Carlo is full with overweight and bald men, but also with the best tailors. Order a new tailor-fit "Italian cut" tuxedo, preferrably black, Monseigneur...

The Bal de la Rose seems to be "terroir" of the Casiraghis as Princess Caroline is the chair of the Fondation Princesse Grace, the charity for which that ball is held.

The Croix-Rouge monégasque has the Prince as patron, so his attendance is logical.

This year after the terrible attack of Nice so near of Monaco , no dancing no Firework and the Red Cross Ball.
Allt the money will go to the Victims.
Prncess Charlène , a very sensititive Woman was more thinking to Nice than to the Red Cross bling bling.
What a wonderful Evening Dress . Bravo

Is there any difference with other years? That dress must have been ordered waaay before Quatorze Juillet and the Prince looks as usual. That the revenues go to the victims is thanks to the Croix-Rouge monégasque, the organisator of the event. Princess Charlène was the charmant spouse of the VIP-of-the-evening. That is all.

Yes I think there is a difference from other years. The terrible events in Nice were marked with a respectful silence, the absence of fireworks, dancing and flashy photo shoots. It would have been odd had all the ladies worn black once the decision was made to go ahead with the occasion . I am glad that the ball went ahead and that some good will come out of it in terms of the funds. I think they hit just the right balance between honouring the memory of those who lost their lives and striking a note of defiance in the face of those who want to destroy our way of life.

Stephanie has occasionally attended in the past but yes, I think it is seen as the preserve of the Sovereign Prince and his wife.

Totally agree about Albert and that white dinner jacket - personally, I always think black looks better, doubly so if you're overweight. I call it his sommelier outfit.

I think they got the balance right between remembering the victims of the Nice atrocity and honouring the fact that people had paid a lot of money to be there.

Thanks Elly C, It is what I wanted to say.

Prince Albert is an human person, not a snob person, He was near the people of Nice during all these tragic days, He was also present to the hommage to the persons who worked at the Casino and on Monaco and who are dead during this attack, he was also present to a ceremony for a child of a person who works at Monaco, this young girl who was 13 is also dead during this attack

Also what matter, P Albert is overheight or bald, he is great inside and I would add all the charities galas are meetings of VIP even in the netherlands court

Prince Albert is the president of the Red Cross Gala , he is also the copresident of the princess Grace foundation with her sister Princess Caroline but I think everybody has his territory, Caroline the bal de la rose, Albert and Charlene the red cross gala and Stéphanie has the fightAids gala and Albert and Charlene has also the princess Grace foundation awards gala in New York , this year, it will take place on october 24th in the presence of Prince Albert and princess Charlene

I don't mind Albert's white dinner jacket, but his trousers desperately need to be hemmed to a shorter length.

Well, personally I think it matters because he looks unkempt in the white jacket. A well tailored black jacket would look better especially when his wife is looking spectacular. And as to being "great inside" like everyone, he has his good and bad points.

I hope Charlene will be present at the PGA - you said the same about the Rose Ball and yet, there she wasn't.

It matters exactly because with a little effort the same overweight guy can look so much better, just wear a well-tailored (black) costume, a properly fitting well-cut pantalon and it will work miraculously for him.

When we can comment on the garderobe of Charlène, Caroline, Stéphanie and the others, we can give a comment too on the Prince looking like a sommelier in that horrible, formless, cheap-looking outfit. Is it from himself or did he rent it the 24h-à-louer-costumerie in Monte-Carlo?

Dof P Prince Rainier wore this tailor, and it is the fashion to wear a white jacket in the south of Europa,
criticing the phisic of a person is not polite, I would like to see your photo .
(..) you don't appréciat Monaco also you critic the prince sovereign.

White dinner jackets are also worn on northern Europe. I think they make everyone look like they should be waiting tables - JMO - including Prince Rainier, who did wear a black jacket more than Albert does.

From my point of view, I just prefer a black jacket as I think it looks better on everyone, regardless of weight.

Whatever the colour, he could get it better tailored.

By the way, in spite of it not being polite you still managed to criticise King WA and his daughters, who are still children.

Why was I coninced that the Red Cross gala is usually held in August? Charlene looked gorgeous; it's always fun and iteresting to see how she is dressed at these events and I hope she won' skip the Rose Ball anymore, which is another major event I love.
