Red Cross Ball, Monaco: 2005 - 2019, 2021 - 2024

Indeed Pricess Caroline not attending is a shame because she always bring a touch of class at the event. I've noticed that Charlene's been offered a bouquet this time, usually not so maybe it's a step to the officialisation of her relationship with Prince Albert and Princess Caroline wanted to let Charlene be the star of this year(My own opinion though)

I am absolutely sure... I do agree with you. But ... one problem : Princess Caroline is the First Lady in Monaco, more glamourous and more chic :ermm: I really miss Caroline of Monaco, you cannot understand me ....

I just dont want that Caroline will let a bit to Charlene to be a real Princess of Monaco ... :ermm:

sorry but Princess Caroline is unbeatable !!!!

I liked Princess Stephanie's dress. The print pattern looked like the flower bouquet that she was holding.

I think that Stephanie looked great. This is the perfect length of her hair, and her make-up was not overpowering. Also, she seemed relaxed. The affection between her and her brother is very obvious, and although Stephanie's warmth may make her less regal than Caroline (who has this more dignified but colder exterior), her appearance makes this event special.

I just want to comment though that what would have made her look more dramatic is if she wore jewelry appropriate for her stature. Either a really dramatic necklace or earrings would have made her look more stunning. It also would have deflected some of the attention on her wrinkles. Nonetheless, nice to see Stephanie there.

Charlene and Stephanie looked great. Caroline and her glamour is truly missed. I miss the old days of Rainier and Grace Red Cross Ball's now something seems lacking, ,well time goes on. I think the ball would take on a more enhanced tone if Albert and Charlene was married THEY would appear as more of a team! instead of BFF'S.

I stated this another thread Charlene is looking and getting the perks of being a princess w/o a engagement- How do u think this looks to other royals who is Rainier's peers whom he has earned the principlaties respect.

The glamour of Red Cross ball is fading. It has been like this for a while. :sad:Casiraghi Trio were hope for a fresh air. Caroline was also still bringing some class. But this year is disappointment. There were no Caroline and her children. Karl Lagerfeld did not appear. :ermm:

I agree that this year's Bal did not have the glamour it usually does, and it's probably due to the absence of PC and the Casiraghi Trio. They seemed to have inherited Grace Kelly's glamour. I thought both Charlene and Stephanie looked great, but I feel like I've seen Stephanie's dress before. Anybody want to take on the daunting task of figuring out if we've seen her in it before, or something similar?

And it does seem to appear that Charlene is getting all the benefits of being Princess Consort with none of the responsibilites. But if we were given the choice wouldn't we want the same?

Here's an additional gallery from abaca:

And I've felt there were less posed group pictures with
the guests, here are some with Emilio and Gloria Estefan
and one of Albert with Bonnie Mc Elveen Hunter, President
of the American Red Cross.

Thank you for these additions, queenofthelight and Radker :flowers:

I've found an interesting pic, Gareth Wittstock, the older one of
Charlene's two younger brothers attended the ball as well, here's
a picture of the two sibblings:

That's a very nice picture of Charlene and Gareth. Good looks seem to run in their genes as well. :)

I was glad to see Gloria Estefan, one of my favourite singers of all times, at the Ball. Does she attend it regularly? I don't seem to remember her from previous years.

Charlene looked beautiful in the red gown: the lower part of the dress was especially nice - I do like the mermaid style very much.
Stephanie looked wonderful (although I'd say that whatever she wore ;) ) - she looked glowing and happy.

Both ladies appeared to get along well, as for Prince Albert, he appeared to be extremely proud to be flanked between two gorgeous ladies.

One of my favourite pictures from the Ball is this one of Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie: it's nice to see that the siblings are still as close as ever. :)

Thank you to everyone who posted pictures and information: Red Cross Ball, along with the Rose Ball, is one of my favourite (royal) events of the year.

Yes I was a little surprised by the minimalist approach to jewellery taken by both Stephanie & Charlene, although I very much liked the look of Charlene's bracelet . I wonder if both ladies agreed to take a similarly understated approach. It's certainly a long way from some of the creations of previous years which perhaps is better suited to the current time, but don't you just miss some of those glorious jewelled hair adornments?

Yes,dear, I missed hair adornments,glamour and sophistication.:nonono:

I like Charlene and Princess Stephane's lovely gowns. And, I am disppointed that Princess Caroline did not attend the Monco Red Cross Ball this year. Hope she will attend next year!

some jewels would have been nice:whistling:

who are the designers of charlene & Stephanie?

In general terms I like floral dresses, but I dislike the floral dress of Stephanie and of course her hairstyle and make up.:nonono:

Because I dislike her hairstyle always and her make up,is not glamorous, not sophisticated

Do you hear yourself?!
Why does it have to be glamorous and sophisticated? Because Grace was that way?
Steph is what she is, she's Grace's little girl and exactly where she should be!
This is Monaco as it is now ... 2009 ...it's good this way. Times change.
The siblings are bringing on their legacy very well!

My opinion is that a princess has to be sophisticated always, in these times in 2009,and before, and in future times, forever.Sophistication and elegance last forever and she has a wonderful example in Grace to follow...

That's right, Zubiaur. A princess must be sophisticated, elegant, classy, well-groomed, well-spoken and respectable. Then, now and forever.

I agree with Artume, princesses have to be all these and more. They are not representing themselves, nor their families, but nearly always the state in question.

That's the essence of their working lives. Looking at the other forums, the European princesses seem to have an excellent grasp of what is expected of them.

Stephanie is different from other European princesses. Stephanie is Stephanie full stop. She is in that way, she wants to be as a normal person from always, this is not a news. She cannot change herself at 44 years old!!

No way would I think Princess Stephanie could be like her late mother Princess Grace
but she is okay in own little way.Prince Albert is looking pretty good in tux and Charlene
looks good in red in my opinion but two things I don't like the dress is too tight and the
strap could have been a little bigger this event is for a great cause charity.
I wished Princess Caroline could have attended I was looking forward to see what
she would have worn and then Charolette,Andrea, and Pierre did not attend either
what a bummer hopefully they will attend next year's ball.

Whatever the dresses, or how many family members attending or not -

The Bal de la Croix Rouge is here to stay.

Stephanie has a sense of style. Not everyone likes it, but if you pay attention to the way she puts an outfit together, she has a knack for it -Not in the same way as Caroline but in a more hip way. Royals like heads of state are expected and held to a higher set of standards. It comes with the job. Charlene just doesn't have it. I was taught growing up to be careful in what I chose to wear because sometimes the you wear the clothes and sometimes the clothes wear you. Charlene always looks like the clothes wear her. She doesn't appear comfortable in them. It's not her. Even with Armani's help she doesn't look natural in them. I thought the bodice of the red dress was too tight and vulgar. I thought her hair too severe. If you look at photos from four years ago, while the clothes then were still a disaster, she at least looked more comfortable in her own skin. She looks like a shadow of her former self. JMO

About Charlene I agrre with you, HIBOU , I see her face is different.

Let's stay on topic please. This is neither a fashion thread, nor
a thread about the qualities and features a princess should have.
The major point of views have already been mentioned, so the
Red Cross Ball itself should take the centre stage again.
