Not true, really… Apart from last year’s Nobel, when Queen Silvia wore her hair open for the first time, which actually resulted in a good overall look with the kind of medieval red Yuki gown, she has continued her elaborate style with fabulous hairdos.

I also liked the very glamorous red dress from the New York Mentor gala. Sleek, sparkling, with beautiful extras in the arm slits, the gathering of the fabric in the front and the short train. Quite a perfect for a less formal, ‘Manattan Gala’ gown:

As I said before I love the colour red on her.
The gown from the gala in New York looks really good on her.
She also wore it at the World Scout Meeting in Vienna in October. Here you can find some pictures:

I think three weeks to go and there will be the Noble Prize Ceremony!
What do you think? Which dress will the Queen choose? I can't think of any dress! She often wears a dress which she wore on galas in the last year.
I bet that she will not wear another Yuki-dress. She wore dresses of him(or is it a woman???) in 2006 and 2007. Because of this I think she will choose another designer.
 
I think there’s always extra fun and excitement surrounding speculation about the Bernadotte Ladies’ Nobel Award appearance -
- because no other Royal house has such one event which is THE most glamorous and most publicized of the year.
As for Queen Silvia, she’s most likely going to choose between her two most exquisite designers Jacques Zehnder and Yuki.
(Who is indeed a man and has actually stopped the design label ‘Yuki’ but now designs under his full name Gnyuki Torimaru:

Me neither but at least she covered her arms. It almost hurts to witness Silvia's inability to accept her age, hideous hairstyle, tacky dress & altered face make her only look desperate IMO.
 
What an unnecessarily rude comment.
As far as the altered face is concerned, I also wish she wouldn't go for Botox, but I actually have far more understanding why she would do it at her age than I have for Crown Princesses who are almost thirty years younger and already start with plastic surgery.
Queen Silvia, desperate? Hardly. Classy? For sure.
IMO, there's nothing tacky about the NY dress. That red sequined gown was worn to a Manhattan charity gala, not a Palace state banquet, and it fit the occasion just as nicely as it fit her still very good figure.

The iceblue from the state visit in Denmark and the orange from Austria where my favourites for last year.

I really hope that she won't wear a Yuki-dress this year. Okay, they really suits her but I am not a fan of these dresses.

No there isn’t, because Yuki is not really a "label".
Gnyuki Torimaru has his shop and atelier in London and that’s it.
He stopped to produce a collection or hold fashion shows long ago, and only designs one-of-a-kind gowns individually made for his clients – as exclusive (and expensive) as haute couture gets.
It’s the same with Jacques Zehnder, though his gowns must even be pricier due to the extensive beading done by hand. A dress like Queen Silvia’s worn in Austria with overall embroidery probably takes about 150 working hours to be made.

At first I thought that it is a real nice dress, because I didn't saw it in the whole, but when seeing it in the whole I think it doesn't suit her. Firstly it would be much better when her shoulders were capped of the dress. Secondly I really don't like the rose or what ever it should be on the skirt.
But that is only my oppinion. Maybe there are some who really like the dress. It is the same with the red one from the gala in New York. Some liked it, like me, and some didn't.

Because of Queen Silvia was wearing some new dresses in the last few month I think that she will not wear a new dress at the Nobelday. But who knows. I have to say that I definitely look forward to this event. It is the highlight of the year.
 
Difficult to tell about this new dress without a good full length view – the skirt seems to have some elaborate draping of fabric going on. In Brazil, Queen Silvia often tends to dress a bit more ‘Latin’ in style.
After last year’s surprise of all-new dresses for everyone at the Nobel ceremony, anything can happen I guess… always quite exciting.
 
1996 and 2000 have been my favorite gowns by far. I also am not a big fan of Yuki gowns, so I hope to see her in another Zehnder such as the Ice Blue or the raspberry one Boris posted for our viewing pleasure. I like these elegant gowns, I think they suit her exceptionally well. She looks better, in my opinion, in more classic ballgowns. It reminds me of how a young Queen Elizabeth dressed and I simply adore that style. It is timeless and will never look dated.

Yes it does look like that doesn't it? One must remember that not only was Sylvia one of the greatr beauties of the royals of her day, she also had charm and a winning smile that won the public over. I'ts a shame though that with all the corrections, her flashing smile is nonexsistent
 
she looks stunning, i love the dress, heair, tiara, everything, i wish i would look like her when i arrive to be her age! may be the neck you a little bit her age, but face is perfect! more pretty than victoria, i would say!
 
Maybe we could restrict discussion of whether Queen Silvia is 'desperate' or not in having had cosmetic surgery to the seperate topic about Royals with comparable 'enhancements', since that is where it belongs?
I absolutely loved this year's overall look on Queen Silvia, her most perfect appearance of the decade at the Nobel ceremony besides the one in 2001, IMO.
The Jacques Zehnder gown features exquisite embroidery in a quality rarely seen these days, which echoes both the pink of the topaz set and the flower motifs in the Connaught tiara. Shoes and (favorite) bag echo the gold in the gown's beading, and the finishing touch of long gloves actually made the dress look better than during the state visit to Denmark.
Bottom line is that she went for a style again that could only be worn by a Queen these days, and which only a handful of Royal ladies can pull off as successfully as she does.
That's what I really love about her 'grander' appearances like this year, as compared to the more adventurous (though most interesting, IMHO) Yuki styles.

i think its a great tradition she has not to wear a new dress for the nobel
 
so she use all this dresses in previous events before the nobel?
 
I loved Queen Silvia's Nobel gown this year. It was so elegant, and it looked absolutely beautiful on her.

This dress is Natan. He added sleeves for her and closed the front because on the runway there is a long split and you could see the models thighs. :)

I would very much like to see this dress in its original version! I wasn't able to find it on Natan’s own website, so could you please be so kind and post a link to the picture you’re describing?
 
Silvia looked nice. But thats about it. I'm from the camp which likes to see new dresses for the Nobel ceremony. The gloves were a nice touch, and when you look at the detail (embroidery) on the dress that is nice too. The colour is good, but I prefer those of her daughters, as they flattered them more.
 
I wouldn't say that 'nice, and that's about it' is really a fitting description for Queen Silvia's Nobel dress.
You hardly find this kind of exquisite embroidery with its three-dimensional quality anywhere anymore (it's actually an embroidered lace overlay on the whole bodice), the beading's pink touches are a perfect match with the pink topazes (and doubtlessly made with them in mind), the overall silhouette was great, and it's the kind of regal gown that can only be worn by a Queen these days.
All in all, one of my favorite Nobel dresses of Queen Silvia.
It's her custom not to wear new dresses for the ceremony (last year was the only exception), and I really couldn't care less if this gown by Jacques Zehnder was worn (only once!) before in Denmark.

Yes, the white Gnyuki Torimaru (formerly Yuki) gown worn by Queen Silvia at the Bicentannial dinner has been seen several times before.
It was first worn for the state visit to Japan in early 2006.
IMO it was a great to choose this dress with its Camelot-like flair to wear along with the medieval-looking golden chain, which is part of the Queen’s Finnish order. A very elegant overall appearance.
