On tuesday december 3rd the joined States General will convene in the Hall of Knights concerning the issue of appointing HM Queen Máxima as Regent in case of the death of HM The King.The government wishes for HM Queen Máxima to step in as a Regent in a ..God Forbid...worst case scenario due to the many services she rendered to the country and the wide support she enjoys by doing so.

Queen Máxima,in case of the above situation,will remain Regent until HRH The Princess of Orange turns 18 on december 7th 2021.In case she decides to remarry within that period,and without the Governments consent she still will remain the Regent for her daughter.In case something happens to both TM it will be HRH Prince Constantijn who will act as Regent.

The joined session will last aproximately 30 minutes.

Queen Maxima appointed as the country's regent by the Dutch Senate, 3rd December 2013

It has been approved that Queen Maxima of the Netherlands would act as the country's regent by the Dutch Senate and the House of Representatives.

Should the King die before Catharina-Amalia reaches adulthood, Maxima will act as regent for her daughter.

The parliament justified this saying that 'in the last eleven years has demonstrated many capabilities at the service of the Kingdom which have been met with broad support and acceptance'.

On the 21st Queen Máxima will receive the 'Deutscher Medienpreis', I wondered if anybody knew what the award is about? The German wikipedia article says that it is to honor people that are in public life. Queen Rania and Queen Silvia both got the award in 2002.
