Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Jewellery

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
An example which is no longer met

Gone are the days where diamonds truly were a girls best friend!!!!

Royals! They certainly aren't what they used to...:ohmy:

All of The Queen Mother's jewels were left to The Queen after her death. The crown pieces can only be worn by a reigning Queen or Queen Consort, but the others belong to The Queen's personal collection. She gave Camilla the Honeycomb diamond tiara and Queen Mary's Delhi Durbar tiara for her personal use.
Did QE actually give Camilla the tiara? I thought the Queen loaned it.

'Given' to Camilla for her personal use, but not Camilla's to keep.

They still belong to HM the Queen

I am very keen to have photos of the QM's ruby brooches. Please only the rubies.
She was given a gift, in Australlia, about 1972, of a stylised hibiscus brooch with Burmese rubies and diamonds.

I have read the description, but never seen a picture. If anyone has, I would be delighted to know and to see it.
She, of coarse, has the pair of R&D from Mrs. Greville.

The Hibiscus brooch is very pretty and obviously appreciated by the Queen who has worn is once or twice since her mother's death.

Second pic of post #11 of this thread: Strathmore Rose Tiara

(click the refresh button if and when the error message appears)

The two tiaras picutred are the honeycomb tiara, which was left to the Queen Mother by a wealthy friend, and the Indian tiara, which was created for Queen Victoria (with opals subsequently replaced by rubies). .
It is actually known as the "Oriental Tiara"

...After the death of Lady Greville, she inherited the Boucheron Diamond Honeycomb Tiara...
Where is this "Lady Greville" coming from - she was the Hon Mrs Ronald Greville.

Hello All--I'm having some trouble locating a photo of the emerald demi-parue left to the Queen Mum by Mrs. Greville--any one out there able to help?
Many thanks--

Andrew I think that may be it--and thank you!!! for posting it. That is an impressive necklace, isn't it?? I miss the Queen Mum!

I don't think that I've seen that before either Andrew. Thanks for posting it, it's a stunner.

.

Your welcome!:flowers:
It's a pity that there is no emerald tiara(except the Vladimir with emerald drops) in the collection. It would be a magnificent parure!
Do you think that there's a chance to see new tiaras created by future monarchs? Or they "have enough" and tiaras seem to go out of fashion:neutral:...

You know, the Delhi Durbar tiara used to have huge emeralds spikes on top! It was a stunner--but, I have to say, I like it better the way it is--it is a delicate looking piece and the emeralds just weighed it down!
I would also love to see another emerald tiara--I do love those cabochon drops on teh Vladmir!
I don't think we'll see any new tiaras in the BRF for a while--which is OK with me because there are SOOOO many we haven't seen in decades--those Royals are so insensitive to our needs!!!

.

We should send them a copy of the discussions on this board, maybe that will motivate them better!:ROFLMAO:

It's so odd that the Queen Mother had worn the pearl and diamond necklace of Queen Alexandra for decades, but never the Rundell tiara or the additional drops from the necklace. And actually it formed a parure.
Do you think that Camilla will wear some major jewellery from QAlexandra, given the fact that her ancestor was a "certain" lady?

Well, Queen Alexandra didn't seem to have a real problem with Alice Keppel because she called for Alice when the King was on his deathbed! Interesting, isn't it?
As for the Rundell--I don't have my reference sources handy right now but when Queen Alexandra died, Queen Mary and King George apparently met with the other children and divided up the jewels. THe Queen and King kept all pieces given in an official capacity, but I cannot for the life of me remember if they kept the Rundell--if they did not, then it passed onto some other child.

I have to say, I'd love to see Camilla in Queen Alexandra signature pieces.

Didn't the Queen attempt to get back any jewels that were given to Alice keppel??

I was under the impression that Queen Alexandra was not at all happy with the Alice keppel situation . Being tolerant and being excepting are two different things. I believe that Alice keppel was summoned to the King';s deathbed at the King's personal request and the Queen acquiesced. When the King finally passed away the Queen dismissed keppel from the room with disgust.
As a matter of fact I believe that the Queen would make comments to her ladies-in-waiting about Keppel especially if she was seen out and about

.

Guess it wouldnt be that appropiate to wear the Rundell tiara and the synthetic ruby necklace together, would it?

Wht is the Rundell tiara? I must have missed that one!

I think the Rundell would suit Camilla but her hair would need a little modification to make it work.

It does appear to have a wide circumfrence, and while a beautiful tiara, it looks like it sits uncomfortably on Queen Alexandra's head--but then again, she wore it often so maybe not.

Is it just me, or does it seem odd to anyone else that after about the 60's the Queen Mother only wore two tiaras? I would have thought she'd wear some others.....

.

I'm almost certain that QAlexandra was the last who wore the Rundell tiara, as she died in 1925, there are more than 83 years that it was not seen!

Thanks for that wonderful link Jcbcode, it's a wonderful tiara, I just never heard it called that before. The link provided a wonderful photo of the Dagmar necklace, so beautiful. Thanks again.

Hello to all---
I was over on the Royal Jewels of the World and Baxter discoverd a little known video and was able to freeze a frame and post both the pic and the video--it contains a tiara of the Queen Mother's that was is not known to many of us! It is a geometric tiara and the buzz is that it could be the mystery tiara of Princess Anne's!
Here is the link to the RJOTW; watch it now because it will disappear soon!
Royal Jewels of the World Message Board: Tiara misidentification?

I think it may very well be Anne's mystery tiara! Too bad we don't have a better picture of Anne wearing it. How does anyone know that blurry tiara didn't have a geometric pattern as stated on the RFOTW website? Personally I couldn't make out any details of Anne's tiara in the photo we have posted here at TRF.

Cat

After posting this I hopped over to Anne' Jewelry thread and did a split screen of the two images. I'm still not sure but there is one major point of difference in the two tiaras, at least that I can see.
