The Courtald Shell brooch was a firm favourite of the late QEII and lovely to see it worn at Royal Ascot this year.
I'm looking forward to seeing many more of the late Queen's favorites worn by Camilla, this one was such a lovely surprise.
It's great how Queen Consort Camilla is slowly, slowly showing us some of the royal stash and she's not a Christmas tree.

Of course, I have no idea as to who actually owns this brooch.
Camilla has worn her gorgeous pink topaz choker with the pink topaz earrings from the same set today in Ascot. I feel like we haven't seen the topaz for a very long period!

It is good to see the natural order of things has been restored, and Camilla has a choker on! ?
Is that her own jewelry?
Charles has always had an appreciation for fine jewellery as well as some more recent pieces. The only thing we really know is that he purchased the earrings and brooch at auction and, after quite some time had passed, Camilla wore them as a pearl choker and earring set.No confirmed source but it has been said that it's a gift from Charles. So probably yes.

Charles is also a visionary willing to take the time it would take to acquire the number of pearls required for five strands of the most lustrous and beautifully matched pearls. The attention to detail is amazing when you consider the differing sizes and colours of pearls in general and I am guessing that these are rather uncommon pearls.
So, he either already had them or, more likely, bided his time to achieve as near perfection as possible. Gifting them to Camilla would leave her as the owner of that set and all of the rest of her pearl chokers. I believe that would also include the gift of the late QEQM's gorgeous longer triple string of gorgeous pearls with a magnificent but subtle diamond clasp.
I think you are right, I seem to remember the brooch was too heavy to to stay up to one side and just didn't fulfill the dream. Perhaps seeing the LQM's three strand necklace worn that way they decided to default to an ordinary style choker. If so it was a great call because we have seen chokers a lot more than the longer strands. There is just something about seeing that clasp with those luscious pearls, it lifts the ensemble from ok to OKAY!!!The pink topaz was first seen on Camilla in around 2005 or 2006 at a reception at Windsor when attached as a clasp to the side of a much longer necklace of pearls, possibly three strings, but may have been more.
The necklace then resurfaced in its current form at the wedding of Peter Philips and Autumn, in May 2008. It has been used regularly since.
Yes it is the same. One of the reporters said on Twitter that it was one of the late Queen Elizabeth II.'s. But we have never seen her wearing it.For Day 3 at Ascot, I think the Queen is wearing the same brooch as what she wore to church on Christmas Day, 2022.

Great-granddaughter is correct.*great-great granddaughter, for the record
I was thinking the same thing about her wearing Alexandra’s bracelet. It’s somewhat nice to see a change from diamonds. the van cleef jewels, sapphires etc.Aside from being shocked that Camilla became Queen, I'm wondering what Queen Alexandra would have thought about her personal jewellery being worn by Mrs Keppel's great-granddaughter.
