Princess Maria Laura of Belgium and William Isvy: 10 Sept 2022

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I don't think they have close relationships with Maria Laura. Her 'scene' is more the nobility of Continental Europe than the Scandinavian royals. Of course, among her close family members are, next to the Belgian royal family, the Luxembourgian royals (through her great-aunt Josephine Charlotte), some Liechtenstein royals (by extension of the previous) and the former royal families of Austria (her father) and Savoy (paternal grandmother), so there will still be plenty of royals left as well.

Giving that Nordic heads of State (King Harald V of Norway, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, President Sauli Niinistö of Finland, President Guðni Jóhannesson of Iceland with their respective spouses) are invited to Queen Margrethe's Golden Jubilee, does that mean that their children are also invited and no one of them is going to take part in Maria-Laura's wedding?

I have in mind of course Kings' children - children of Presidents are private persons and not obliged to participate in such occasions.

Don't think Maria Laura is close to the scandinavian Royals so i never expected them tomorrow. Probably some luxemburgian, Habsburg etc.

I am not sure if they were ever expected to come. I imagine the guest list of her brother Amedeo will be more in line with what we can expect for Pss M. Laura.

More or less the extended Family on both sides

There must be at the wedding in addition to the Belgian Royal Family, some members of the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg and the Princely Family of Liechtenstein and perhaps some members of non-reigning royal families, but only close guests of the bride's family.

The fourth picture.

Oh, yes, I have noticed it now. I was distracted by the guy in the centre. Wonder who that is.

Can this be an indication of the bride's gown having a train? Because if not, what would be the use of practicing with one?
Tomorrow we'll see it all.

Something to look forward to tomorrow. Can't wait!;)

Shouldn't have the civil ceremony already started?

I dont't know if they will close the Market Place for the Civil Wedding.
For the Cathedral , 500 persons , they will need many autocars and cars.
King Albert II and Queen Paola are not able to use the many steps. They will need a side door join the family inside .
King Juan Carlos used another side door for Queen Fabiola's Funerals as was directly in the Cathedral.

Funny pictures of the Preparation at the Cathedral.

I am looking forward this happy Wedding.

It seems that Delphine and her husband also attended. I did not see any photos of the children of the King and Queen (yet).

Does anyone know when and where the promised footage from the religious wedding will be made available?

Following the civil wedding, there was a reception for the guests in the Bozar.

The writer of the article speculates that the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom may have been one of the reasons why there was no balcony appearance, but the omission of any balcony appearance was already confirmed at the press conference in August.

All the Royal Civil Weddings are at the City Hall , except for King Baudouin and Fabiola at the Salle du Trone of the Brussels Royal Palace.

Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz were the first to marry civilly at the Brussels City Hall as the previous royal civil weddings held in Belgium occurred in the palace (it was mentioned in one of the pre-wedding press conferences).

It seems that Delphine and her husband also attended. I did not see any photos of the children of the King and Queen (yet).

At the pre-wedding press conferences it was said that the whole royal family, including Delphine, had been invited. In theory that should mean her children are present as well, but has anyone seen them in the photos?

William's brother (Jordan?) and Maria Laura's brother Joachim will be ushers:

Hervé Verhoosel has shared the flowergirls and pageboys:

Quoting the earlier annnouncements as the religious wedding is about to start:

Wim Dehandschutter:

? William’s only brother and Laura’s brother Joachim will be the “ushers”, they’ll welcome the guests.

? Princess Astrid: “Partly because of this, the marriage gets a family vibe, as the couple wishes.”

Hervé Verhoosel:

[Religious] Wedding of HRH Princess Maria-Laura of Belgium and Mr Willisam Isvy - Maid of Honour : Princess Luisa Flowers Girls and Page Boys : Anna Astrid and Maximilan d'Autriche Este, Maria-Thereza Droste zu Vischering von Nesselrode, Alvaro de Orleans-Borbon, Aurora and Eulalia Peters.

According to Dehandschutter via tweet, the wedding of Princess Maria-Laura and William Isvy on Saturday will still go as planned.

"A moment of prayer and reflection will be dedicated to HM Queen Elizabeth II during the religous celebration on Saturday afternoon", he added.

Wim Dehandschutter also wrote:

An important reason why the wedding of Belgian Princess Maria-Laura and William Isvy takes place despite the death of Queen Elizabeth: it is considered a private event, not a state occasion. “The couple were very moved by the announcement of her death.”

I am not sure an "excuse" is needed as I very much doubt that anyone would have suggested postponing the wedding of British Princess Eugenie of York if the King of the Belgians had died two days earlier. On the other hand, William Isvy is (French-)British and Princess Maria Laura has made her home in the UK for the last decade.

In any event, it is lovely of the royal couple to honor their uncle's fellow monarch.

Is Alvaro de Orleans Bourbon a son of Andrés de Orléans-Borbón y San Martino d'Agliè? The latter is a grandson of Queen Paola's sister M. Cristina. He lives/lived in London and married a Belgian lady, but I am not sure if they have a son.

Very interesting that the Belgian and Spanish royal families have such an unexpected link through a married-in consort and a cadet branch.

The princess looks absolutely elegant. I love her A-line 60's looking dress. And her hair is perfect.;)

Wim Dehandschutter's quotes family spokesman Hervé Verhoosel's communiqué about the wedding gown (please move to the fashion forum if appropriate).

Princess Laura has always understood and liked the style of Dame Vivienne Westwood.

For the religious ceremony at the cathedral, Princess Maria Laura will wear a Vivienne Westwood (made-to-order) silk cady floor length Cocotte – a gown with great historical influence. The corset and neckline are inspired by fashionable women of the 18th century and the fabric which sweeps across the shoulders, drapes, and falls from the hips, is reminiscent of ancient Greek statues. Princess Maria Laura's look was styled with a grand 4 metre silk-faille Diva train. The train (in an ivory Silk Faille) was created with an extra 4 metres of length, especially for Laura, to create the drama and presence required for the Cathedral.

William Isvy also looks stylish today.

Good, there's still hope Queen Paola will leave it to Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant.

I had hoped that Princess Maria Laura would follow the royal tradition by wearing the same wedding tiara as Queen Paola's other descendants' wives, but as Tilia C. noted in another thread, her grandmother, born Princess Margherita of Savoy-Aosta, died earlier this year, so this may have been a way to honor her.

So it's the Savoy-Aosta tiara, the tiara her mother has worn for decades, and heirloom from her paternal grandmother. I love this tribute to her paternal grandmother, but admit that i don't always like the strange outline of this tiara.

Hoping that's the reason why the art deco bandeau isn't used in this wedding.....:ninja:

To be fair only Mathilde and Elisabetta used that as wedding tiara so really hard to tell is it a royal tradition.

I like this gown itself but the train is so distracting, like it is tied to her waist randomly and the colour doesn't even match the gown, like they're two separate piece and put together at last minute.

I love the tiara being worn by ML today. It is gorgeous and elegant.

Is Olympia of Napoleon pregnant? She was struggling so much carrying the veil. Seems like she was in pain the whole time.

I didn't even recognize Princess Napoleon among the bridal attendants.

The older bridesmaids dresses are not a success imo.

ETA: I think Princess Napoleon is absolutely, definitely pregnant!;)

Does anybody know who is the man and the young woman with the hat next to Astrid? (I think it is picture 7 from the newspaper)
