The conductor seems to be Ton Koopman. He is the conductor of the Amsterdam Bach orchestra, which mainly focusses on Bach. The students played the Hohe Messe.

I believe princess Margriet once said that it took her years to start to like Bach, as at kindergarten she and her schoolmates were expected to lay down on a blanket after lunch and listen to Bach music.

The princess and Mr. van Vollenhoven will still attend the annual Stuyvesant ball (35th edition) and will a dance performance of the NDT.

Yes, the school of the princesses was a very progressive and idealistic type of school, set up with the money or Mrs Beatrice Boeke née Cadbury (from the chocolate indeed). The idea was that children should explore the world by themselves and that there was no enforced school goal. How really free and not-enforced that school program was, is open for debate.

In the television program Margriet 65, more than a princess she told: "Such a school where everything was different, and new, and therefore we learned absolutely nothing. Because everything had to be very creative, and especially no discipline, and more of that sort of things. In fact I was very happy when I was allowed to leave that school. It was so "forced idealistic". After lunch we had to lie on horse-hair blankets and then listen to Bach. That was an obligation."
