Looks definitely more optimistic, a nice change from the gray routine. The color of the blouse is almost like the color of the pot flowers. :D

However, the cut of the shoes is like before:

There is a dresscode for pope visits:

Only catholic crowned head of states or their wifes have the right to wear white when meeting the pope !

So only Queen Sofia would have had the right to wear white ( the others are Paola of Belgium and MT of Luxemburg ).

This means: the outfit was inappropriate ( or correct me, if I'm at fault because they have eased rules )

Yes you are right tht only Catholoc queen are allowed wear white while visiting the pope in official state bussines. However, when it's other way there isn't a such protocol. Besides this wasn't a official state visit nor a papal visit but an apostelic trip.

The gray suit is classic. The white coat maybe is really warm and white looks great on her. The pink shoes go really well with the coat.

I think that matter is slightly different. The dress code concerns visits to Vaticano and is talking about the mantillas (lace covers of the head for the ladies) +same outfit. Only the catholic crowned queens - head of states are allowed to wear the white mantilla + outfit, all the other ladies (princesses, etc) the black lace.
But I do not think that the rule applies to the usual clothes, and out of Vaticano
For example, Queen Paola is dressed as per the protocol but IN VATICAN

The dress is very contemporary and it would look nice on a 20 something and definitely NOT combined with anything black...

Would have to agree with you. The dress itself is very pretty, but wearing this length is what makes Letizia look like a teen.

Way too short and I don't care for the booties with it.
Neither one of them look very happy. Don't they ever smile anymore?

Really people, once you say she should wear more colours and when she does, you say the dress is not appropriate. She really cannot win...

But no one said anything bad about the clours of the dress... we only think it's too short, but that has nothing to do with the colours. Besides, she's wearing lots of back here as well.

I like the dress, looks OK with the black cardi, perhaps the dress alone without the cardi would be better. The black coat has been recycled many times.

In the picture posted by lula, they were talking to people, looked serious and focused while talking. Perhaps they don't like playing to the cameras, they don't need to either.

Thank you for more pictures. I really like the dress. I think it looks good combined with black (the dress itself has some black stripes) and the shoes are a good choice here.

the dress is pretty but rather summer than winter, its too short and would look better on a teen going out rather than a princess on duty. does that sound familiar.

I agree that it's too short but it still looks beautiful. A little touch of summer can't harm during this time ;)

The short dress is still in fashion, many women in their 30s wore short dresses, nothing age inappropriate these days. Perhaps the short dresses are not traditional royal wears, neither are the low cut dresses, however many posters are already so used to seeing royals showing part of their breasts, I bet in another 5-10 years, short dresses are no big deal either .

She is the fashion princess, isn't she:flowers:

We see a soon to be Queen with shorter dresses and some breast exposure like the CP's. Things change as much as some hate it. :ROFLMAO:
I would sure hate to see them all dress like the late Queen Victoria.

If she is, I would advise her wearing more new clothes from different Spanish designers, not just Varela who always cut his clothes in the same way, whenever her in laws buys a Valentino or an Oscar de la Renta, she also buys one.

I love this dress. I like it matched with the black cardi, tights and booties. I think that only thin women look good in stripes.
But I agree with everybody else: the dress is too short. I don´t mind women in their 30´s wearing these short skirts, but she is a princess and she is working. I guess no many women at the event were wearing so short dresses.

It's a pretty dress and the colours are really nice. It's just too childish and summery. I'm not sure about matching it with a black cardigan, but the black tights and shoes are definitely too much. Her hair looks nice, though.

Love the dress - print & color is really pretty but a bit too short in general.
I dont agree that this is just a summer dress, the colors look warm, therefore I think it is suitable for this time of the year. At least she is not in black and grey which is the most common color for this time of year.
